Re: Dundee Quote: The SFL board said in a statement: "We are of the opinion that lessons are not being learned. Clubs have to realise that they can't treat their HMRC tax obligations as something akin to a credit card." Taking this on board and comparing with Pompey...................!!!!!

If you are looking at attendance figures, it might also be worth taking in to account the recent trend. Are Poopey increasing their average haul?

I am a bit further to the West towards X'church and everyone seems to support Everton for some reason.

yup wrong thread - didn't see t'other one.

As mentioned on the knife and fork thread (didn't see this one) 'haitch' is the way the Welsh say it.
-
Haitch is the Welsh way of saying aitch which seems to have taken over for some reason.

Took the Mrs to Bruges (aka Venice of the North) for a w/end. Lovely place, expensive, and easy to get to. What you can apparently do (not sure how long it takes) is go by canal from Bruges to Amsterdam. Went to Brussels last year for the day. Dirty, graffiti everywhere, and pretty much like every other big town.

I got one of these Sainsbury's vouchers last night. However the closest petrol station to be is 11.5 miles away and as I never go that way, it would be 23 miles to fill up. As my car does 38mpg ish but probably less than that, I would estimate it would be 2 litres worth, or about the same amount (or most of it) I would save on a full tank, without taking into account my time and cost per mile to drive there. I'll leave the voucher in the car in case I happen to be passing a Sainsbury's petrol station in the next 2 weeks but I somehow think that it won't get used.

On the IOW today and practically ran out. Got to a garage near Freshwater and they were charging 129.9 for diesel

....and would the club be paying rent to play at Fratton?
-
So to add to their wage bill and other outgoings (everyone seems to have forgotten about player trading) is the interest charge on the £17m or what ever it is Chin lent them. If it is being charges at 28% (according to some) then that is a nice tidy £4.76m in interest payments alone. However, I can't believe that it would be that much but still a couple of mill +.
-
£15m + 12.8% employers NI contribution = £16.92m. Now I am never sure whether these wages are nett or gross of tax and employees NI. I suspect that some might have their tax "paid" for them so I wouldn't be surprised if the £16.92m was actually closer to £20m.

Very clever these 5p off a litre. So you spend £50, probably a lot of people will stretch that far to get the discount voucher when they weren't intending to. Then half the time you have to search for a Sainsbury's petrol station and then when you fill up and put 50 litres in at a price of £60, they give you £2.50 back. So a minimum of £110 and you get £2.50 back - hmmmmm doesn't sound overly generous. It of course attracts people in to the store and obviously Sainsbury's have worked out that people buy things they don't really want/need so that they qualify for the cheaper fuel.

Does Anyone Else Want to Hit Jack Whitehall with a Spanner?
angelman replied to Lighthouse's topic in The Muppet Show
No idea who Jack Whitehall is. So the answer has to be 'no'. Don't have Sky any more and even when I did, I never watched Sky 1. -
11 x £10k x 52 = £5,720,000 9 x £10k x 52 + 2 x £20k x52 = £6,760,000 So the answer to your question is £1,040,000 ETA - then you need to add NI contributions to that so the figure would be higher.

I've ****ged a black girl. Does that make me racist?

Look on the bright side. Now that it has been stolen you can go and buy yourself a new one with a nice new zip.

The Spending Review (tackling the Socialists debt mountain)
angelman replied to dune's topic in The Lounge
I would love to have 10 kids paid for by you lot. Unfortunately I have stopped at 3 as I don#t want the expense of more (and the Mrs had enough of me on top of her). AS for the BBC article saying the top 1% pay 24% of the income tax, I am glad they wrote this. I paid a nasty tax bill this year and got ****ed off mightily when Cameron and Osborne keep on going on about those with the broadest shoulders paying up for everyone else. I feel that I already pay my fair share thank you very much and I don't need some shyster politician telling me I need to pay even more. -

whoever is to blame, we are all ****ed and am afraid as it is going to affect us all and as we are very NIMBYish when it comes to this, we are all going to complain. -
The Spending Review (tackling the Socialists debt mountain)
angelman replied to dune's topic in The Lounge
If the MPs say it, then it has to be true. Not sure quite what your point is about blaming someone else when I get burgled. As I own my house, I can't blame the person I pay rent to; and as I know who burgled me last time, I know who to blame. -
The Spending Review (tackling the Socialists debt mountain)

Possibly, but they didn't have to. They could have let them go to the wall and stood around and watched the whole house of cards come crashing down. Or maybe if the bankers had had the proper controls in place, rather than being allowed free reign (thanks to Gordon), we might not had that particular mess. Nice to see HSBC run properly. Lloyds was run properly before they took on a huge amount of toxic debt that didn't show up in due diligence (I wonder why!?). But as I said, the budget deficit is not the fault of the banks. What ever things they have done wrong, the cuts are there to "pay" for Labour's excesses/ People always seem to point to the bankers for all the ills of the world. I would say that I am not a banker, have never been one and am not related to one. But it seems that there is a certain amount of chipiness amongst people for the amount of money that they earn. Rather than people whinging that someone earns more than you, why not go out and do the banker's job and earn that amount? And why should bankers be criticised when PL footballers on £220k a week aren't? -

Sure...it was the bankers who employed 860,000 more public sector workers. It was the bankers who ran up huge debts by over spending. And what bankers are you referring too? All of them? Investment ones? High Street ones? etc etc? Surprised that no one seems to have blamed Maggie for the problems we have. Oh - and the Government taking a stake in the banks have made quite a tidy profit if you take their current book value -
and it comes full circle to when they went up for their first liquidation hearing and were told that they were trading insolvently. They should have been closed down then and there, but no, the judiciary let things drag on, incurring huge court costs on the country (HMRC and the courts time) etc etc, and for what? To be warned that the will be insolvent in 2 weeks time unless some money mysteriously appears. As they have the best fans in the world ™, surely the 250,000 odd that they surely must have, can dip into their pocket and produce a fiver every month to keep the club running????

vs Hmmm with a fake 'tach and some glasses, hmmmmm. Maybe the photo was taken a while back at a toga party.
