  1. and no doubt somewhat cheaper and better atmosphere????
  2. Been reading this thread: http://downatthemac.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=56527 Refreshing to read and I hope that they win the playoffs (although it would be nice to see B'mouth come up as they are southerners)
  3. Hated Le Pousin. Hasn't Aitken moved to Mudeford replacing Gary Rhodes? I also hear from lots of people that Limewood is definitely a place to give a miss on the food front. Best might be Le Gavroche. L'Ormeau at Cancale (France) The Cliff in Barbados when I first went but don't like any more. Prefer The Tides as it is just as good if not better, has less chins in it and is cheaper, as well as having that idyllic beach location. Casa Marcelo in Santiago de Compostela. No menu - you get given what the chef decides. Most is OK but one or two dishes a little too strange. But generally all these flash restaurants leave me hungry. I splashed out £320 for me and the Mrs at Aubergine and I came out still hungry, as did The Vineyard at Stockcross. I like going to Chewton Glen for lunch as they have a £20/25 menu and it is just round the corner from me. To be honest I prefer good bistro food or my mother's cooking (which is damn good). Haven't been to the Fat Duck or the Manoir (yet!). But my favourite restaurant was (haven't been for years) was Le Bistro de Sommelier in Bordeaux. Food was mediocre but set menu at 96ff but it had a superb wine list that was cheap and more than made up for the quality of the food. It also had a fun crowd.
  4. I am sure that could be the plan. Well at least maybe indirectly. To get promoted they would need a squad of players, and to do that Chin has to dip into his pocket, which certainly isn't part of the plan.
  5. Not that I really care what the man does, but he is somewhat more interesting than most characters in the game. I was wondering whether he is trying to get himself sacked from Real. His behaviour vs. Barcelona recently has been a bit bizarre and I read that Ramon Calderon says that the club has been damaged. Coupled to that, when Jose was interviewed at the Spuds game, he was emphasising that he was contracted to Real blah blah blah and that when that finished he would want to come back to England. A bit strange to say that you want to return to England when you are being employed by the biggest club (or one of them) in the world. Not the best way to endear yourself to your employers as I would have thought that you might want to work towards extending your contract. I then went on to think that a lot of Arsenal supporters are growing restless with the lack of silverware. Wenger, while he must rate as one of the best managers around, has made some errors with his squad. Everyone is thinking Mourinho would replace Ferguson or go back to Chelsea, but I have never heard any connection/rumour/what ever with Arsenal.
  6. Yes, I am. Go all that way, would be useful to take him alive, not that he would see the light of day. Saying he's dead means that they can torture him as much as they like.
  7. Isn't it time to change the rules a bit and say that if you finish within x amount of points of 2nd you automatically go up? I realise that the money men like the play offs but potentially Bournemouth could finish 18 points behind Huddersfield and get promoted? 18 points is a huge difference and takes the mickey out of having a competition running over 46 games.
  8. http://www.villadesorangers.com/uk/index.php Took the Mrs here a few years ago. Very nice but kind of expensive!
  9. Nothing Conservative about the government. Conservatives used to have some cajones but now all we have is some homogenised Blair clone.
  10. Something nice and light!! Reflections on the Revolution In Europe (Can Europe be the same with different people in it?) by Christopher Caldwell
  11. So of the 9.... one is not going to play but just collect £1.9m a year for doing nothing (good work if you can get it). one is a sh*t goalkeeper one is 37 and about to finish his career one is about 57 (surprised they didn't mention him and his age). I think Herman needs to have a chat with Kanu to see what the secret of eternal youth is. ......and they get rid of youngsters cos they aren't of Championship quality. Well that is ironic as the Pompey certainly don't seem to be of Championship quality either. It will be interesting to see what happens. Chin isn't going to put any more money in. What happens if the Ruskies don't get the club? Does it fold? If they do, presumably this would be post season's end - would a fourth team be promoted? Would that be the losers of the play-off? And what happens if the Russians do take over. Someone said that their liabilities (inc Chin) would be £50m. And that is for a cr*p stadium with a cr*p group of players (I am not sure "squad" is applicable). They would need to find say 12 players to make up a squad of 20 (presuming ben Haim isn't included) and that would mean buying a fair few players. I am never sure of the rules about loanees - is it 5 can play or be named in the match day squad? You would have to be desperate to sign their as a full time player, unless you had a damn good contract. Anyway, say there would be a need to buy 7 players and ave 5 loans. What will that be - £10m or so? Interesting times ahead.
  12. Used e2save once. This is part of Carphone Warehouse so should be OK.
  13. I think I pay about £90 for annual world-wide for me, the Mrs and 3 kids. So £38 each for 5 days does sound a bit steep.
  14. Cos AFAIK Poopey's owners haven't taken North Korea for a ride. Nor the head of MI5/6. Nor the ex England manager. Nor done over a bank.

  16. Time to see if the FL have any cojones or bend over and take it from this group of lovely Russians. This is the bank that has it's HQ above a music shop in suburbia isn't it? Exactly. Given the state of the club, you either have to be a complete fool or a fraudster to buy it. There is no compelling business reason for buying it at all. None. And if you really want to buy a club there are others that make SO much more financial sense. What I find amusing are the clubs they have been linked to. Presuming that these guys are bona fide investors.....! B'mouth apparently was other people (agents) trying to cause trouble. Rangers, now that was something they put a bid in for or tried to. A bit of going from the sublime to the ridiculous isn't it? If you are ambitious enough to try and buy Rangers (with £30m odd of debt) why then settle for Poopey? Who would be better to buy for a similar amount? Far too many to mention.... Reading for one. The Geordies might be too expensive. Bolon, Wolves, WBA, Wigan (although I am sure Whelan wouldn't sell to anyone). Maybe Fulham. Most of the nPC. Complete fools tend not to last too long as they run out of money pretty quickly, so that leaves the alternative. That is unless you are so attached to the club (usually when you are born and bred in the area and supported all your life) that you realise that you are losing money but don't ind it in some sort of altruistic gesture.
  17. I hear a lot of people complaining about an awful lot, actually that should be most of the cuts, but that is all they do. Complain, whinge, *****. Why not try and be more constructive and offer some remedy to the problems that we have. The Health Service costs £100 billion a year, is good in some places and really bad in others. Bad in too many areas. Things need to change.
  18. skid-mark
  19. I had no idea what you were all on about.....but this explains all http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AjFIzWjT5I4&feature=fvwrel Just imagine Rebecca Black and Justin Bieber getting together...............! She admits to "Bieber fever"!!
  20. I was in Milton Keynes the other day and was doing a spot of 10 pin bowling and there was a kids party singing this...... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S3dPXxPGbmM Yup - they were all fat ****ers as well
  21. But the law still states that if your car is unroadworthy, then you are breaking the law regardless of whether you have a current MOT. As we seem to be taking more traffic police off the roads, then I guess that in hindsight it might be a bad thing in practice, although good in theory. The other thing to take into account is that modern cars are designed so much better than old ones. Another thing...as more manufacturers are offering 5 year warranties (and some 7 or 10 year ones), then in order to keep your warranty (which I imagine nearly 100% of people do) you have to have it serviced properly/regularly. While there is no compunction to get any repair done, I imagine most people would. Whatever happens, I still think that cars 10+ years old should be MOT'd annually.
  22. My car is now 11 years old. It has failed once, and I did actually spot it the day before the test, as there was a small oil leak.
  23. Good idea. Have a MOT at 3yo, 5yo, 7yo and 9yo and then every year after that for cars 10 years and older.
  24.  Kanu 35!!!! Maybe 53 would be more accurate!
