It's very easy for Birch - ask Chin to deposit £20m (or whatever) into an ESCROW account for the future payments to run the club. Of course give back IF a buyer comes along etc. That way it would be plain to see where his intentions lie and given his past track record of not really having the clubs interests at heart, would be an appropriate course of action. But, if he does come back, do you think he will honour his comments about paying sub £2500 people? Or did CSI do that?

I imagine that he would lose the land as well as the 317m or whatever it is.

so what happens we a "proper owner" can't be found?

Did Warnock call NA a f***ing something at the end of the game. He was saying it to someone but who? Ref?

I think Shilton was the best keeper we ever had, by a long way.
-
I think you'll find that it isn't interest free. I seem to recall rather a high repayment figure of something akin to 17% (or have I got 17 on the brain!!?)

Does anyone else get the feeling that the FA/FL have lost control?

I doubt Brian Howe has anywhere near the money himself, so he would have to find a group of backers equally passionate about Poopey who would be happy to spunk £50m+ down the pan to buy the club and then a further £10m next year, and then probably another £50m to rebuild the club. If they existed I suspect that they would already have appeared. Sad to say, but PFC is IMO far too toxic.

Last Wimpey I had was at Ronhams and that made McDonald's look like a Michelin starred restaurant.

Surely Pompey should be kicked out now if there is a chance that they can't compete their fixtures. Why should some teams have to go through with a meaningless game, what with risking injuries etc, whilst others don't? They either can make the end of the season or can't. What is all this "might"??

McD smells like **** and tastes like ****. If push comes to shove, a cheeseburger. Whopper is the way forward.
-
I can't understand Poopey's thinking here. They are trying to stay in nPC. Surely for them, it would be so much better to drop a division. All those wasters on huge wages, would then leave and they could try and get things back on track. As it is, I can only think that they are doing this to try and attract a buyer. Does it really make that much difference whether they are in L1 or nPC?
-
I agree. What they fail to take on board is that when they declare themselves bankrupt, it impacts on many other people who have lost out. There seems to be little care about their circumstances. That it is the tax man making the biggest noise seems to make it OK, as no one really likes him. But what about all those others?
-
Could HMRC retrospectively hit clubs for full payment if they are successful in overturning the Football Creditor's Rule? I would want to make damn sure that they couldn't before thinking about a community buy out.
-
Ken - think you are right that deferring wages until May just adds to the secured debt, and will make it more expensive for a new buyer

New RFA Tankers To Be Built In South Korea

I know....can't understand how we can export Japanese cars to Japan. Britain has a bigger manufacturing sector (as % of GDP) than France but it does fall short of Germany. There is a general impression that we are crap at manufacturing, which we aren't, but we could be so much better. As for BoP, we are heavily in deficit with EU countries but in surplus (or near surplus depending on the year) with the rest of the world. -

I am presuming that these contracts are awarded having been put out to tender. it would be interesting to see how accurate the "quotes" are and how much over spend there is. But it is crazy. Our ship building industry is almost dead, and doing this is another nail in the coffin as well as screwing our Balance of Payments. I wrote to my MP (Desmond Swayne) about Bombardier, and he wrote back some piffle. He's a cock, and seems little point writing to him over this as no doubt will get the same piffle. He failed to mention the wider affects that this sort of things have, service industries, high streets, etc etc, when the money that could have been earned isn't and therefore isn't spent in the shops. They are all cocks, and I reckon that there must be a lot of vested interests somewhere. -
So Reading don't think that they will get paid by Poopey so choose to get the money in themselves and then give them their cut afterwards.
-
Ginge, yes it does seem that there is a recurring theme here that it is vital that the players get paid and screw everyone else (inc HMRC). The sooner the Football Creditors Rule is overhauled the better.

How about, ummmm, Plymouth?

Fine time to raise the £17m debenture question. As has been mentioned before, what was he doing while undertaking due diligence? Maybe he did question it and put it in his report to CSI, but why would anyone proceed if there was a question about it?
-
IF (maybe a big IF) there is documentation that Tesco would be prepared to pay £20m, then that would back up the validity of £17m. I would imagine that there is something there to confirm said value of the charge. If there is no documentation anywhere, then I don't think Chin has a leg to stand on. I am not sure that he is a fool, so I would imagine that he is fairly confident. There is an exception to every rule, but a fool and his money are soon parted.
-
Chin lends PFC £17m and takes security in the form of the ground, thus valuing the ground at £17m. As Weston states, the market value might write this down - is that the situation? What then happens, if it does transpire that Tesco's has offered £20m for the site? IF that is the case, then surely that is the market value and the £17m is, for Chin, safe and not to be downgraded.

think the rules say you have to turn up with 14 players. wonder what would happen if they deliberately got sent off or "injured" so that they didn't have the required number?
-
But obviously not HMRC or any other clubs who are owed money.
