Problem with Option 1 is the squad. They have 3 senior players, and how many others? They are showing 5 on their www http://www.portsmouthfc.co.uk/first-team.aspx of which they are hoping to shift 3 of them. So let's say that they have 2 players. They will need to sign another, say, 15 players in the next 2 weeks or maybe 2.5 weeks if they surrender their participation of the Capital One Cup. I am not sure how easy that is going to be. On the one hand, their will be journey men who are desperate and youngsters who are wanting a break, but on the other hand, would you sign for them if you thought that you might not get paid? That is, if FL let you sign players. So, as far as I can see things, the way it is going to work....off load 3 players earning the most, then Chin will step in, pay of the FCers to keep FL happy and start to get in 15 players. There will be some loan players (never remember how many can play at any one time - is it 5?), freebies, etc etc. Problem with freebies is that they often get a better wage as there is no transfer fee. Not sure whether there is a signing on fee. Judging by the response from some of the trialists, things aren't going to be that easy. If I am honest, if they manage to assemble a squad and make the first league game, I will be impressed, although I suspect that they will. But every day that this intransigence carries on, is a day less to get a squad together.

Not sure Option 3 is a goer. They may have the matching of Chin and his offer, but paying football creditors in full will be somewhat of a stumbling block, given that they will have £200k to cover millions.

Isn't getting the players off the books a bit of a red herring. Well maybe no for the PST, but for Chin. Looking at the FL's demands.... Point 1 is done and dusted. Point 4 is not insurmountable. But points 2 and 3 might cost the new owners a serious, serious wedge of cash. Does anyone know what the figure (point 2 and 3) would be and whether they (point 3) are all deferring/compromising?

Do they really believe Chin is going to dig deeply into his pocket !!!!!!!??? I know that he is prob their only chance but.......

I think I have a soft spot for Victoria Pendleton, although she could have a wee bit more up front.

I am now waiting for Becks to curl a burning football about 50m to get the thing finished. I don't want to carry on being negative, but the bird announcing the countries is doing my head in.

Nice touch to have Tim WWW inventor there.

Real classy to have Frankie "When I want to Cum". Real classy!

I'm English not British. That should keep Giggs, Bellendy and Salmond happy.

remember if you go for an LED then there is little room for speakers and the sound is pretty bad. LCDs are a bit bigger and have better (although still not always great) sound. I just bought my self a 37" Panasonic with HD Freeview. Apparently they are the best in poor signal areas. Taken me 2-3 weeks of fiddling to get the picture how I like it but still not sure it is as good as the Samsung that I also have. I like Samsung TVs so would look at one of those.

Buct, mine curled even before it started. The BBC really know how to really make it even more cringeworthy than it already is.

If Chainrai has vetoed the PP underwriting the wages, then Gordon Taylor and the PFA is doing a woeful job in protecting it's members from character assassination.
-
If that is the case, then good. I have faith in Cortese in being able to run the club on a sound-ish footing. If it means that we are uncompetitive in the PL but have balanced books, then so be it. All fans want their chairman to splash the cash, without really thinking about the consequences, and i think we all know exactly how things can end.
-
Didn't know Chainrai had vetoed that. Thanks pedg.

I think that they are in the real world, and are tacitly supporting what TBH is saying. I actually think TBH has come out rather well in the past day, saying that TB has made these demands/requests, but has not actually put any substance behind it and that he (TBH) is already £2.5m down. I think it totally fair for him to also turn round to TB to tell him to drop his fees if he is going to get others to drop their wages.

No, Phil, not sure what you mean

Poopey SOS letter..... Has this been written to match the (supposed) intellect of football players, or did the person who wrote it not understand the basic rules of grammar?

I feel rather sorry for these highly paid players (which is strange as I never feel sorry for them as they get paid far too much). They seem to be being made the fall guys when really they are just pawns in this saga.

12-1 that this thread get's closed??

Brilliant stage today and looking forward to tomorrow's. Really not sure what got me into the TdF. I remember popping round my dad's gaff 2 years ago and seeing him watching it and thinking how sad. Last year I had an epiphany. Maybe it was Mark Cavendish's sprints that did it, maybe it was the camera work going through France. Whatever it is, I seem to be hooked. Some of the ****ing clowns watching there need a damn good slap. A few days ago the tacks. Today Voeckler and others hitting out at those getting too close. Why do those idiots run alongside the cyclists?
