  1. Agent has to throw things like this out, to see if they will bite. Looking at PL, who is most likely to sign him apart from us. Arsenal or Liverpool - only if they sell Suarez and if they do that, then it might be to Arsenal, and that would mean him living up north.
  2. Do you think that if we had signed RL for say £10m-15m then he would be looked at in a different light? The closest player to him is Carroll who has cost a combined £50m (as opposed RL's £1.5m). While there is the "big" club thing, I also wonder whether the fee isn't also taken into account.
  3. Basingstoke - 1 hour to London, 45 mins from Marchwood. But....these guys are rich enough to employ drivers, so does it really matter if it is 1 hour or 2 hours?
  4. Liverpool don't sign players over 30.
  5. Hopefully this is the start of a beautiful season for him. Confidence booster. Can only be good for us. Really happy for him. I was so pleased that he did well last season, and this is right up there for someone who has done things the hard way.
  6. the refusal to change things and always play it "safe". that is why England are so boring to watch.
  7. Not sure what is more depressing....the utter ****e on the pitch or the inane and utter ****e that comes out of the mouths of the ITV commentators
  8. Time to bring on a striker who can actually score goals, or just flog on with the typical dross we have been served up for the past 10-15 years?
  9. Are you surprised? I'm only watching it to see if Rickie comes on. If he doesn't or only does for 10-15 minutes, I'll be well ****ed off. However, as there are 8 Man Utd players, I imagine he said to Moyes that he would go easy on some of them.
  10. We're a very very average side.
  11. Strange that the Jocks would boo their own (proper) anthem.
  12. Took my 6yo last season a couple of times. He loves footie, loves playing it, SRL is his favourite, but he got bored sitting through it.
  13. Strewth fella. Next you'll be saying that VB is good.
  14. Ah, sorry Minty. I read your post but not the quote part!!! Anyway it was a little rhetorical. While it is a parody of the RSPCA and animal abuse, where does it parody child abuse? I really can't see that bit, unless it is the kid at the end pulling faces having eaten it. Is it the pixilating? I wonder how many of those who complain are members or donors to the hugely political and quite powerful aforementioned "charity"?
  15. It's Friday afternoon and I am being a bit slow, but what actually are people complaining about?
  16. Wes - a question.....would you consider a move from Roma to Saints as a step up?
  17. **** him/them. The problem with all these prima donnas is that they all think that these big clubs are going to come in for them. How many big clubs are there? Say 4 in Spain, 5 in England, 5 in Italy, 3 in Germany, 2 in France and say 2 out East. So that's 21 clubs. How many players per position are these clubs wanting on their books? 2? So that's 40 or so places, and the whole world to fill it. At least half those teams are already happy with what they have, so that's 20 spots gone. I know that this is overly simplistic, but just trying to show that all these players hanging out for a move to a "big" club might get a nasty shock.Their arrogance thinks that Real or Barca should be knocking on their doors, but if that was the case, then they would already have been signed up. Arsenal might well be the one, but they are targeting Suarez. So who else is wanting to sign Osvaldo? Personally, if this is his attitude (and you never know what is true and what isn't), then I would prefer to look elsewhere for someone who does actually WANT to play for us. I suppose that is why Championship strikers can go for a fair bit. They WANT to make that step up, they know the English game and they are therefore somewhat a more known quantity. Question is, is there anyone good enough in the lower leagues? Look at RL and his rise - while foreign players are more exotic, are they all always the better option?
  18. Reaction by MP is good to see. Looks like he's a pretty good man manager.
  19. Interesting make up of the squad - out-players only..... Arsenal x3 Chelsea x2 Everton x2 Liverpool x2 Man City x1 Man Utd x8 Saints x1 Spurs x2
  20. How true do you think the "rumors" were/are that Celtic are interested in him? If true (yes, I know, some of these rumors have to be accompanied by a very big IF) then surely he would be good enough for PL. I know people like to diss Celtic, but they aren't going to sign rubbish.
  21. BS wants to fight for his place. I like that. Much better than all these foreigners we are being linked with who don't want to come here.
  22. As things stand, we have Lambert, Jrod, Mayuka, Isgrove, Guly and Sharp. That is unless Lee is still on the books, although I thought he had gone. Looking at that, I feel sorry for BS.
  23. Not the worst, but not hugely exciting but I guess good if you are into minimalism.
  24. Took the bird (now the Mrs) to 3 games when I lived in London. Chelsea 3-0 SFC [16 Sept 1995] QPR 3-0 SFC [30 Mar 1996] Wimbledon 3-1 SFC (at Selhurst Park) [23 Sept 1996] After that I wasn't going to take her any more and she didn't want to go either! Trying to get my 10yo daughter to go to a game but she has taken her mother's opinion of football on board.
  25. Don't hate any club. What I don't like is the attitude that certain clubs have that they have a right to be where they are or higher (at someone else's expense). Liverpool seem to be a prize example, as they think that their natural habitat is Nº1 when in reality they haven't been anywhere near for decades. I also don't like the way that money has ruined football, and therefore I like to see those that spend the most fail. That really is Man City and Chelsea who have spent way way beyond their incomes. To a lesser extent, the same can be levelled at us. However, the net spend from our relegation to L1 until the start of last season was something like £17m, which really isn't very much. We have spent another net £16m or so (presuming we got something back for Forren) this season, which I presume can be covered by TV payments, so we live within our means and don't rack up £100m annual debts. I do worry about the amount we spend and hope we don't do a Pompey. I have faith in the Chairman to temper those worries. Anyway, I hanker for the 1970s/1980s where we and most other teams could compete to win the 1st Div. Others that I find spend far too much for their turnover in order to gain a competitive advantage are the likes of Leicester, Birmingham, West Ham, QPR, etec etc. I do find it risible how the papers were intimating how foolish they thought we were by cashing in Bale's sell on clause for Forecast and upfront payment, but I look at it that we tried to do the right thing financially. Anyway, I ramble. The press (inc Sky, BT, talksport, etc etc) have made me dislike ManU, Man C, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool and Spurs as it seems that these are the only teams involved in PL.
