  1. Her uncle used to be the janitor on Tony Hart's "Take Hart".
  2. Bottom row on the left looks like Wayne Bridge.
  3. A classic kit, the only Saints shirt that I've got both home and away versions of... reminds me of the beginning of Matty's golden era. :prayer:
  4. I'm 100% in favour of making St. Geroge's Day a national holiday in England... not for patriotic reasons, just because it's my birthday so I'd never have to work on my birthday again! Whoop! It's also Lee Major's birthday today (6 Million Dollar Man, The Fall Guy) so happy birthday Mr Majors!
  5. He looks a lot younger in that video. Is this the Swiss version of "You Bet!"?
  6. Still unsure about the Corolla? Maybe this will help you make your mind up...
  7. I just got a little bit of sick in my mouth reading that article.
  8. Heard a very good interview on Radio 2 last year during the MP expenses scandal, some bloke giving very honest observations about the expenses revelations and how politicians should respond to restore the public's faith in politics. I assumed it was a journalist or political observer but at the end of the interview it turned out it was Nick Clegg who had been speaking... he went up a lot in my estimation, I didn't know a great deal about him before then.
  9. Currently got a '55' plate Corolla "Colour Collection" (1.6 VVTi petrol, alloys, air-con, climate control) Had it a couple of years and no problems at all so far. If I had to make 1 complaint, it's maybe a little "thirsty" for urban driving but does fine on the open road. My previous car was a '99 Corolla 1.3 petrol which I had from new, owned it for about 9 years and the only thing I recall going wrong with it was the switch in the boot which controls the "boot open" lamp on the dash board - cheap and simple to fix though. One thing I noticed about the newer Corolla is the "sturdiness" of the thing. The old Corolla was a bit light-weight, but the current one is built like a tank - the doors feel nice and solid and make a very satisfying "clunk" sound when they close, comparable to a German vehicle in that respect Until I have a bad experience with one, I expect I'll continue to buy Toyotas (the wife has a Yaris which we've also been very pleased with) Like others have said, they are often perceived as "boring cars", but I think that's unfair on the latest Corolla, a very smart looking hatch back IMHO. Still, to me, a car is an appliance so as long as it works and doesn't cost me a lot, I'm happy with that!
  10. Couple of other things I just remembered... Security is very tight, a bit like airport security - walk-thru metal detectors, put metal objects in clear plastic bags etc. - so be careful not to take anything "dodgy" in with you. There are usually police with sniffer dogs patrolling inside. I once got frisked by 4 armed police (sub-machine guns, bullet-proof vests, the works!) Fortunately, they stopped short of a full cavity search! I had the last laugh though, won over £100 on the big race later that afternoon! :supz: Weather wise, it can get very windy at the race course, even in and around the "stadium" sections. If it's sunny, it can be a great day, but if it clouds over and the wind picks up, it's worth having a jacket with you... forgive me for soundling like a parent!
  11. I go every year - meet up with my old uni flatmates there because we studied at Liverpool Uni. In the last 12 years, I've backed the winner of "the nash" on 4 occassions (including 3 years in a row) despite knowing very little about horse racing. I only place 1 or 2 bets on the big race and it's the only horse racing I bet on all year... what a mug's game! As for tips for the day, we always go in the Tattersalls which is decent and not too expensive. Get to Aintree early and walk the course, you can take photos right up next to the famous parts of the course (Beechers, Canal Turn, Melling Road etc.) The parade ground is worth a visit too, if you can get into that bit from the County Stand. Interesting to see the horses wandering round before the race - if you see one of them take a big dump, then they're worth a flutter! There are often long queues for the lavs, particularly inbetween races, so be prepared for a long wait (or go during the less important races!) Same at the bars. I'm sure you'll have a cracking time!
  12. Could we have a poll please? - I booed NC because I don't like him - I booed NC because he didn't wave when he was on the big screen - I booed Lord Mawhinney's appearance on the pitch (which just happened to be as NC appeared on the big screen) - I booed Carlisle fans for ending the Mexican wave - I booed for none of the above reasons - I didn't boo That should just about clear things up once and for all!
  13. "I is angry"? What's wrong with "I am angry"?... is this yet another bastardisation of a perfectly innocent word?
  14. Doesn't Garry Monk play for Swansea City?
  15. Exactly what I thought too... just couldn't quite figure out what the major design flaw was going to be!?
  16. How on earth is the ex-husband supposed to keep his eyes on the road while she's doing that!?
  17. That's Tony Pulis behind you... come to scout a few Huddersfield players.
  18. Mario Licka... what a missus!
  19. I've been with Plus.net for over 3 years and they've been very good. Very quick turnaround from placing an order to having broadband up-and-running. Technical support has been first class on the few occassions I've needed to use it. I've recommended Plus.net to family members - they've also been pleased with their service. Can't say much more than that really... they've been fine for me and I have no intention of taking my custom elsewhere for the forseeable future.
  20. lettuce

    Stoke City?

This. It's the same reason Beats went to Sheff United and KJ went to Sunderland. Once a player wears red & white stripes, they never want to wear anything else! Seabourne from Exeter is another... and haven't we had the occassional player from PSV or Ajax in the late 90's early 00's? See.. conclusive proof!
  21. I like the fact that our current badge is kind of shaped like an anchor... a nod to the maritime influence in the local area... ... but that round badge is v nice!
  22. I like the badge as it is. So what if it's not been around "that" long in the grand scheme of things? So what if it looks a bit "amateurish"? The main thing is that it is instantly recognisable as Saints, and that, for me, is the most important factor. There are other clubs that have quite "amateurish" looking badges but they're an integral part of the club's identity... Wolves, Sheff Weds, Nottingham Forest are all instantly recognisable but could have been designed by a primary school pupil! I don't want to sound like a party pooper, but 125 seems like a fairly arbitrary anniversary to make a big fuss over... was such a big deal made over the 100th anniversary? (I was only 7 at the time and hadn't started following football so don't know how that occassion was marked)
  23. Julia Bradbury looks like Anthony Kiedis (Red Hot Chili Peppers) in drag... ...so it's a no from me
  24. I wonder if FlyBe will rename that "Matt Le Tissier" plane once they've severed their ties with Southampton? Hope not.
