  1. Shame, Deppo's humour was a cut above the vast majority on here. Hypo's "ginger" post is also far more unsuitable than the vast majority of Deppo's posts... unprovoked personal insult, no place for that on here.
  2. "I just went to the shop and brought some new clothes" is a personal 'favourite' of mine...
  3. Went to Dubrovnik about 7 or 8 years ago, lovely place. The whole "Dalmation Coast" is beautiful coastline. Gets hot though, we went in September and even then it was still blazing during the day. As Benji mentioned above, Dubrovnik old town is beautiful - despite being heavily shelled during the balkan conflict, it's still in fantastic condition for a medieval city. There are no motor vehicles allowed inside the walled town, which makes it very pleasent to stroll around. You can also walk around the city walls and get fantastic views of the coastline or looking down into the city. The hotel we stayed in was average, and the food was a bit ropey (they didn't cater for vegetarians very well, as my missus found out to her cost) I got the feeling that the tourism/hospitality industry was still in a period of recovery following the conflict, but this aspect may have improved a lot since then. I can't comment on whether or not it would be a good "family holiday" destination, but you and the missus would probably love it. It's certainly somewhere I'd consider going back to and would recommend to others without hesitation. P.S. There's a small island just off the coast by Dubrovnik (I think it's called Lokrum?) which can be reached by boat. It includes a beautiful nature reserve and nudist beach!
  4. 34E bl00dy marvellous
  5. I'm sure Cortese could remember who he ate lunch and discussed these topics with on Tuesday.
  6. Potentially, Michael Owen could be the best footballer at the club, if he wasn't always in the treatment room.
  7. Good, but not this good...
  8. Don't know really. There are plenty of clubs to choose from near where I grew up, although no footy team in my home (rugby league) town, but none of them struck a chord with me. I'm naturally drawn to support the underdog, so Saints obviously appealed in the late 80's when I started following football, which fortunately coincided with a certain channel-islander breaking into the first team... A classic moment was being labelled a "glory-hunter" by some of my Man Utd supporting pals following the 3-1 and 6-3 drubbings at The Dell
  9. Cheshire born, bred 'n butter, but now living in the West Mids. The Saints are loved far and away beyond Southampton!
  10. Like it had every Saturday afternoon at the Dell?
  11. In fact, as (probably) the only Widnes born'n'bred member of this forum, I think a few more :) :) are in order!
  12. +1
  13. Harry McKracken... that really does sound like a porn star!

  19. I agree with the comment that the BBC shouldn't be spending licence-payers' money on securing the broadcast rights to the Superbowl... they should leave it to Channel 4 or at least recruit the Channel 4 NFL production team. Gary Imlach and Mike Carlson were the perfect double-act for NFL coverage in the UK - encyclopaedic knowledge of the game and quick, intelligent humour. BBC's Jake Humphrey? 'kin ell!
  20. Exactly, it's an integral part of the sport, doesn't bother me in the slightest. It's as much a part of the game as the long pauses at the end of each over and between each ball of an over are in test cricket. Also, it gives the broadcasters a chance to analyse each play and review the action that just happened. In practically every play, all 22 players on the field influence how the play develops and trying to take it all in "real-time" is a challenge for the spectator.
  21. The NASA Apollo moon missions. Saw an episode of Mastermind back in the 90's where this was one of the subjects and I got every question correct, even better than the contestant on the telly!
  22. Smells a bit fishy to me.
  23. Get in the Seahawks! One of the best rushing TDs I've ever seen! Don't think we'll make it through the next round tho
  24. Close, Widnes. My parents are from St. Helens though, so maybe I've got Saints blood in me afterall
