  1. Crikey, that was a ball game!
  2. This
  3. Lamb chops at Cardiff Tesco found to contain 25% farmer DNA.
  4. Gutted for the Seahawks. Still, the Superbowl is a mickey-mouse cup, we can concentrate on the league now etc. etc... :-D
  5. Pleased to see (my) Seahawks getting some exposure/recognition for hitting a great patch of form at the business end of the regular season. Not sure how we'll do in the play-offs, likely playing all games on the road. A few sloppy defeats earlier in the season (Lions, 'phins, Cards) have cost us the NFC West to the 49ers (unless the 49ers somehow manage to lose to the Cardinals) Pete Carroll is ex-USC, although the Seahawks is his third NFL head-honcho job so he has got some previous. His coaching "style" is not to my taste but he's getting the job done this season, particularly with some excellent work in the draft (helped by GM John Schneider, ex-Packers) Should be an entertaining end to the season, I'm backing the Falcons to go all the way although I still have lingering doubts about Matt Ryan handling the pressure of the big games.
  6. Leaves the door open for a sequel.
  7. Seahawks for me. Started following the NFL in '86 (when the Bears were reigning SB champs) I was about 9 years old then. My parents randomly bought me a Seahawks replica jersey - the classic 80's blue "uniform" with the Seahawks logo in the sleeves... #28 Curt Warner (THE Curt Warner, not the "pretend" Kurt Warner who QB'd the Cardinals to Superbowl victory years later!) That forged my bond with the Seahawks, during the Dave Kreig, Steve Largent era and I've stuck with them ever since... they're the kind of organisation I like - middle-of-the-road underdogs that (very) occasionally flirt with the big time, occasionally plummet to the lower reaches (most of the 90's!) Stayed up to watch the Seahawks-Packers game on Monday night and still trying to get my head around that game!?
  8. DOH! The Ravens looked good (albeit against a mediocre Bengals outfit) and seem to be developing an offence to match their defence.
  9. Feeling cautiously optimistic that the Seahawks will manage a winning season for the first time in the Pete Carroll era. A top 10 defence/defense and an interesting quarterback competition between rookie Russell Wilson and free-agent acquisition Matt Flynn should help. If Marshawn Lynch and Robert Turbin can stay healthy then that's the running game sorted. 4-0 record during pre-season is encouraging too. As for the big prize, I see it being a shoot-out between the usual suspects: Packers, Patriots, Giants and Steelers... but I hope for a surprise package to mix things up! Looking forward to it!
  10. TBF, if you replaced her head in the first photo with Bradley Wiggins' it would look like a nude Wiggo on a bike!
  11. A world wide hero... first man on the moon, yet incredibly grounded and down-to-earth. R.I.P.
  12. You can just about see her cleat in the first photo!
  13. As mentioned in post #2, I've had first-hand experience of this on TWO occassions at this place... they've clearly got something against "baldies" (whether the hair-loss is natural, self-administered or otherwise unavoidable!) On both occassions when it happened to me, they stopped me between the entrance and the bar and said "you won't get served in here". When I questioned why, the response was "We don't need to give a reason". Seems this is standard practice for them. The second time it happened, I was meeting up with a group of friends for a birthday meal and was the last to arrive, so the rest of them (about 15 people) all got up and left
  14. I've been turned away from that place twice in the past, purely for having a shaved head - they were happy to take my money off me when I still had hair! Glad to see the ***ts have dropped a bollock and are getting some stick for it!
  15. 12 down, 1 up. Bog-standard plusnet tariff through a BT line.
  16. Agree with this. Been to the US twice in the last 12 months and hired cars through Alamo both times - absolutely no problems whatsoever. The first trip, we booked an "economy" class vehicle. They offered us a Nissan Cube, but it had no parcel shelf in the boot. We asked if they could provide a parcel shelf as we'd be touring around for a couple of weeks with luggage in the boot which we didn't want to be visible. They didn't have the parcel shelf so upgraded us to a Chevrolet Impala (2 classes higher) for no extra charge. The second trip, we booked a "standard" class vehicle. They offered us a Chevrolet Impala but the passenger seat was soaking wet (it's been ****ing down in Boston during the last couple of weeks) They had no other vehicles in that class so upgraded us to an SUV for no extra charge - we got a brand new Hyundai Santa Fe fresh out of the factory! So basically, if you can find something (genuine!) to complain about with the car they offer you, there's a decent chance of a free upgrade
  17. Sainsbury's... little and often.
  18. His contribution to forum lols was also significant... http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?26289-Connolly
  19. Beaver Dyke (also in York)
  20. Or Starbucks!
  21. I see no mention of Peter Madsen or Jim Brennan, they must be languishing in the reserves...
  22. I think it should be made a public holiday in England... for the purely selfish reason that it's also my birthday
  23. It's so we can have Lee Sharp in the starting XI
  24. I'll be there, been every year since '99 with my old pals from Liverpool Uni. I've somehow managed to back the winner 5 times in the last 12 years, despite knowing bugger-all about horse racing! My tip for this year is... back the winner!
