  1. Although I wouldn't wish any club to fold, Pompey are far too smug, so it would be great to shut them up. As said before it is only their PL status that is saving them, we folded with about 10% the debts they have and are strugling to find a buyer despite our assets, Pompey have nothing to really sell in terms of assets and all their players ould have to go due to their wages being too high, so unless you find someone who needs their head examining I doubt if they went into Admin they would be saved. Has anyone else noticed the paralles between us two: Good cup run and gaining a European stint one season with a manager loved by the fans, then the next season a succession of managers and a low - mid table finish. I'm tempted to put money on them going down next year then folding

    OS

Most of the stuff in the Echo is speculation, so until there is something concrete I doubt the OS will put anything. The bids are also meant to be secret and private so I guess they have been told not to put anything, it is stupid though because you would expect something. I only check the OS as its my home page, I doubt I would look at it unless I saw something on here or the Echo first
  3. I thought that when we went into admin that shares became worthless, so it could be that talks are just over the club and SLH will desolve entirely? I have no real knowledge of business so this is probably completely wrong
  4. very sad news, RIP Condolences to all that knew him
  5. It's my birthday as well! its not a good day for Saints so hopefully this year will be different!
  6. I don't think we will hear anything until it has already happened, everything is being kept a closely guarded secret, which only Fry and the bidders know about, so most of the people just working at SMS will know nothing either, which is where most of the rumours seem to come from.
  7. Something will happen soon with bids having to be in by last night, if there was any press confrence that is likely all that will have been said
  8. I think we should recieve it because Brum have gone up this season, therefore it is the teams they have played that should benefit. But my gut feeling is that because the payment would be FOR next season it is next seasons teams that will benefit Does anyone know if we get parachute payments for going down to L1 at all, or is it whishful thinking?
  9. I usually go with Mcgoaless, but yours is good too to be fair he was in the top 20 or 15 CCC goal scorers this year, joint with about 5 others on 12 goals (I think). I would prefer John but if either wanted to stay on a low wage I wouldn't say no
  10. I swear that the money that went into Coventry last year was meant to go into Saints instead, but the investor pulled out at the last minute due to the fighting on the board, trouble caused by Lowe and Wilde calling an EGM
  11. I'm just looking forward to the future, although I did miss out on Saints greatest (and arguably footballs greatest) times Saints have always seemed to rise and fall, hopefully we will now see a rapid rise, but the right decisions need to be made now, as to who takes over the club who manages us etc.
  12. I think Gillett deserves a continued run in the first team, he has come on loads this year in my opinion and it showed committment to play against Burnley even though he wasn't fully fit. I agree though any new manager will come in and want to replace a large part of the team. Although there is a thread about today's echo elsewhere, after reading it I think we really need a manager with lots of English contacts, who can get either cheap loans in or free transfers to act as a spine to this team.
  13. Best Goal: Robertson at home to Norwich. Best Game: Reading Away Best chant: Although it wasn't Saints, Charlton V Norwich yesterday on the Championship, with Stand up if your going down, apparently everyone in the ground stood up, (we dont get many funny chants in the family end of SMS)
  14. I think they said he texted in, saying he was with family at the moment, but would talk to them later in the week, I didnt hear it, but thats what I was told happened
  15. I just saw the whole report (all 30 seconds of it) and they just say that they understand that Le Tis is in talks with a someone representing someone else, I can't remember where the Gurnsey based property developer was in the chain =p but it also said it is understood Le Tis would be offered a place on the board. It also didn't state that Le Tis would be on Soccer Saturday, could it be that he is going to be at Forest with potential buyers? (woo my first possible rumour =p)
  16. I had a very quick look but couldn't see this anywhere else, so sorry if it has already been mentioned but I noticed this on the BBC's sport section: The Rise and Fall of the Saints. There isn't much there, but I just thought it may make an interesting read for a few minutes http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/8016585.stm
  17. I hope he gets better soon in the last few home games he has been urging the team on, something we have lacked all season and something we will need next year. It looked like an unlucky challenge nothing unusual, I didnt even hear the final whistle because the ref was off so fast, the coward. I have massive amounts of repect for the Burnley player though who stayed by Wotton calling the physio and holding back the Saints fans to allow the physio and officials room. I think 4-4-2 with Wotton and Gillet in the middle would work well next year so hopefully he will make a quick recovery.
  18. The win at Reading was probably it for me a good day all round, its that or the win against Brum in the league cup when I was filled with optomism that we could actually do something this season =(
  19. I have just lost a lot of respect for almost everyone that has posted here, yes Wilde has done the wrong thing and I strongly dislike him and what he has done to our club, but wishing he would die and wishing pain and suffering on his family is too extreme you should all be ashamed of yourselves!
  20. If they aren't deducted points and we are then that will be one of the worst decisions ever. I still don't think we should as although it is a loophole, it is still their rules and they shouldn't change them under fears of complaints from other clubs
  21. I think it was out of sheer relief, and as stanley said there was a sense that Ruperts return would make it all almost irrelevant so people wanted to celebrate the good times whilst they could
  22. Exactly, I think that was one of the best games I have ever seen just for the atmosphere and the optomisim that followed, but come september that was all gone and now we have neither the manager nor the players who could handle that situation (as the weekends result showed) however I still believe (hope) we can stay up, especially if we pack St Mary's on saturday again! COYR
  23. 1997 at the Dell, Saints v Derby, Derby won 2-0 but I can remember being 7 and realising how rubbish the ref was, I also asked my dad if we had to swap ends at half time like the team did =p
  24. I will not resign myself to the fact that we are down until it is too late, being realistic I thought we would get relegated last season, but we didnt and like last season I will be at SMS till the end of the last home game, what is football all about if not belief and hope? Of course my view is completely optomistic but that is the point of supporting a team, believing that you can win every game and staying behind that team no matter what.
  25. Although I agree we need a fresh start its too much of a romantacist view, it would cause more turmoil than we can afford. I'm not sure who I would keep or would wat to stay the problem is we need players who want to play for Saints and have the grit and determination to either keep us in the CCC or get us out of L1 and I doubt we would find that by kicking everyone out.
