Nobody is being literally forced to wear one, I think that’s pretty clear from everyone. But the level of coercion to go along with these campaigns edges towards what would otherwise be classed as workplace bullying or abuse. Morsy exercised his right of expression and right of opinion, and various LGBT campaigners publicly criticised his decision and his that his religious beliefs didn’t align with their own. Football365, a leading UK based website, said he should have been stripped of the captaincy for his choice.

@eggwill I'm sure be delighted to now be classified as an antiwoke warrior. Obfuscation at least needs to be based somewhat in reality.

“Going into the next general election Labour leader Keir Starmer will still have to contend with a largely right-wing printed press, but one that is far less influential today than it was in 1992. Since 1931, when Stanley Baldwin attacked the power of the press barons for exercising “power without responsibility”, the role of right-wing press owners has been viewed by those on the left as a way of sloping the electoral playing field in favour of the Conservative Party. But in 2024 the power of the right-wing press is vastly outweighed by politically neutral broadcasters and news websites.”

Pretty much spot on tbf.

It’s been said before, but the ire should be directed not towards the officials but towards Armstrong for being so fucking stupid to be so clearly offside when he didn’t need to be. His intention was obviously to get on the end of the cross and, had he done so, it would’ve been instantly chalked off. In the video I’m not sure there’s any point in the play where’s he actually in an onside position. Just really poor forward play.

BBC website viewers are notably of lower intellect 😏

A poll went up in a national football forum I use about half an hour ago. Therefore a majority of non saints fans voting.

🤣 that makes zero sense. Armstrong is the closest player to the keeper. Hes in a prime position, and in real time the keeper will surely think he at least might be able to get to the cross coming in. Ergo hes interfering with play.
-
where was he then? In the image below he’s about 3 yards from the penalty spot.
-
I struggle to see how on earth it could be argued that Armstrong is doing anything other than interfering with play. Hes right in the centre of goal and in the goalkeepers eye line. Absolutely no question it was the right call.

It genuinely seems to be how he does it. Fucking crazy.

The Starmer Years - Can The New Broom Sweep Clean?

No. I think your original reply of “I know it was nothing to do with it, thanks” was better, before that modified word salad made its way into print. -

I shouldn’t be, I know. -

Which is a completely different point. The quoted bit was made by Kier Starmer. Who isn’t a Tory. -

That literally makes no sense whatsoever to the post you were responding to. -

Well yeah, but that’s no given. And as Jamie Delldays shows time and again, hypocrisy is fine when it comes to politics. FWIW I think she was right to fall on her sword. I don’t much like the press going through bins, but you can’t be transport secretary of the country with this on your record while trying to stand front and centre for a party that said “you can’t be a lawbreaker and a lawmaker”. -

Then I can see why it’s so tight, given public opinion. I’m repeating everyone else but it seems the right initiative to me, but extremely rushed.

And maybe it isn’t. My understanding of a private members bill is that it can be brought back to debate multiple times, it doesn’t have to pass or fail at the first reading. If this ends up being just the beginning of a debate then it serves a worthy purpose.

🤣 surely you've worked out his MO by now!

Are we? OK, hands up. Who said in pre season “come December we’ll be on course for the worst points total in Premier League history”. Edit. I think my sarcasmometer may not be working. Long day…..

Whoops.
