  1. Pressure to win can and will only result in errors or people not taking their chances for fear of failure. If you don't take risks you can't be blamed. Taking the pressure off of our players and landing it straight on Pompeys shoulders is win-win for us. Our players feel relaxed and can play without fear and Pompey get the added pressure of expectation working against them. I thought it was quite obvious? It's what successful managers have been doing for years and it's been enjoyable to watch the likes of Sir.Alex do exactly this in readiness for big games.

Can we have an option for something like 'consolidation' - League success isn't my priority for the year, an opinion most forum users seemed to share at the start of the season when we found out we still have a club. The general view then was this season was about rebuilding, consolidation and preparing for next season. It was about building a squad of players and giving them time to gel over the course of the season. Starting on -10 with no pre-season, anything other than survival was seen as a bonus. But now we are questioning the manager because we're not fighting for promotion.
  4. If NC wanted instant results surely we wouldn't have a 5 year plan, but a 2 year plan? 3 years tops? Year 1, promotion to CCC Year 2, promotion to Prem Simple, for a man who wants instant results. Or perhaps that's utter BS and the 5 year plan is an accurate reflection of how quickly he expects results.
  5. So long as those who have supported the team week in, week out get their tickets... what does it matter who else gets them? All support is good support, IMO.
  6. Perhaps we have been left with employees who don't meet the standards we need, or don't have the attitude we need, yet still think they can act in the same way they did with RL around? But now we have a serious and professional attitude at the top, the expectation is others below should follow suit. I've seen this myself... a new man comes in and people leave as they don't get on with the new style of leadership. It says more about the people leaving than it does the people in charge. Given the recent and obvious improvement in pretty much every aspect of SFC, I'm willing to bet we have the right person leading us

  9. The law isn't the problem, the enforcement of the law is the problem. You can't scrap it as it will leave a situation where players camp out in the opposition half. With all the technology available today, I'm sure there is a better way than simply getting rid of it.

He has all the makings of a very good player so I'd much rather we took a gamble and signed him up ASAP, rather than invest our time and money into developing a player for a team that will no doubt be our rivals in the near future. It's not like we can't afford to take a gamble in signing a young, talented player who is already making a positive impact! Loan until Jan with a permanent move agreed from then please.
  11. It is indeed. There are proxies that you can go through though if you wish. Although some ISP's don't take kindly to that sort of thing so be careful.

  20. It actually looks like the opposite of what we have. A solid base has been built from the back. A solid spine created. Experienced players and leaders brought in. In the article it claims they were in second place in the league but performances were unconvincing. Yet our performances are good and show promise, yet the results aren't there and the league position is terrible. So it's like he has learned from past lessons and has approached things differently here. Instead of early success, points and wins with an unconvincing performance, we seem to be building gradually and improving with each step. This suits me fine. It's a long-term plan we need....
  21. While I'm not entirely convinced about the DOF role... we could do a lot worse than bring Coppell into the club!
  22. But our best time might not always be available, so we need players who can perform with any combination we put out. If they can only play with certain people and can't play with people worse than them, they aren't going to be much use to us this season.
  23. Can you do the same sort of stats for Loss ratios and Draw ratios? Or perhaps the number of points per game? Burley may have won the most, but did he also lose more? Perhaps WGS won less, drew more and lost less?
  24. The only thing consistent from the Dell era to now, is the fans. Everything and everyone else has gone. Except Dave Jones, of course. Maybe he's to blame?
  25. How old was Theo when he was doing the business for us? I'm not saying this guy is going to be anything like Theo ever was, but let's not rubbish him based on his age. There are a lot of young players out there with far greater skill and class than some seasoned pros' who are much older. If he turns out to be no better than we have, or crap, then we can start rubbishing him.
