Almost every thread is full of keyboard warriors bickering with each other, so why bother starting a new one for the same thing? Even the ones you think and hope are football related turn into bickering. It's a little ironic that you've started a new thread for something that exists in most other threads already... to avoid having it in other threads. Horse has bolted long ago.

A crap football club using a great clubs name. A crap football player using a great players name. They were made for each other.
-
I don't see the point in renewing, when you just end up paying to read pathetic insults and off topic crap. This used to be a football forum. If the moderators stood firm and stamped it all out, the main culprits would get bored and go elsewhere. Never going to happen though, so let's just hope another Saints forum dedicated to football and with no agenda arrives, so we can get back to talking football.
-
There was a very proud sticky the other day claiming that any libellous, trolling, slanderous and other such threads would be dealt with 'strong and decisively'.
-
This thread will prove whether the Moderators new get-tough stance is a load of BS or not...
-
About bloody time. This, people who feel the need to respond to every remark made, the personal attacks and the way threads go way off topic far too quickly should all be stamped out. It's up to the moderators to grow a pair a deal with it directly now that this message has gone out.

Of course, SG is somebody well known to this forum so people listen. But like I said, you do learn who is genuinely connected and IMO, internet superstars don't often fall into that category.

Anybody who posts rumours and comments like this does so knowing that they will look stupid if they are utterly false. Not so much of a problem for a newbie who nobody knows, but we all know FF. And many, including FF I believe (forgive me if I'm wrong), have been bitten in the past by people feeding them false information to suit their own agenda. This makes you really think twice before believing people and making such comments again. You learn over time who is connected, credible and safe to believe. You can spot a mile off those that just want the attention or people to praise them. FF falls into the first category, in my opinion. But some people don't ever like hearing negative comments about the club, so will rubbish people regardless of who they are. Others just like arguing.

I'd be disappointed for sure, they would certainly improve the squad. But they aren't the only quality players in their position and IMO, you have to get to a stage where you draw a line under your dream signing and find somebody else, get them in and get them and the team used to each other. If they aren't available now, should we not sign anyone in those positions until January? What about the quality we're missing between now and then? And what if we sign them at the end of August, what about the games before then? There are 12 points available in August and we need to give ourselves every opportunity to get all 12... that should be the aim. I have to be honest and say I don't know the individual circumstances of each of the players you mention, but what makes them available or not? Is it not up to the club to offer the right price and package to secure them? Then if their current club doesn't want to sell or expects more than we will/can pay, we should move on and find somebody else.

And then arguing with them, yes!

I agree with the sentiment, but how long do you wait? There will always be a better player that comes along after you make a signing, so how long do you wait? If you have somebody very specific in mind then wait, definitely. But we learnt the hard way last season that not preparing with your actual starting lineup can hurt you. We also learnt that points dropped in the first 10 games will be sorely missed at the end of the season. So with one pre-season game left, I would have hoped that we would have brought at least the winger in by now. We have two good strikers in Barnard and Connolly, who on their own will get goals and with Lambert will be better still. It's not as good as I want, but I'm not panicking. We have plenty of midfielders to choose from too. We are short of one quality CM, but we have enough quality and a mix of playing styles that will mean a new signing wont result in us having to learn how to play through them from scratch. But a winger we need now. This position really affects that way we attack, how we cover opposition attacks and how and where we spread the ball. I fear without preparation, a new winger wont be brought into the game at the start of their time here, while others are getting used to the change. And we don't have anybody who can really provide quality cover in this position, so it's not like we can make do for now. In an ideal world I wanted us to really go after Antonio regardless of cost (to a point).

Why not go to the OS instead then? Or SkySports? Or any other football results site? Forums are for discussion. There are plenty of sites dedicated to facts and figures only, if that's what you want. I'm not defending the nonsense that gets posted here, god no, but it is a forum for opinions to be shared, whether we like them or not.

To be fair, it is possible to have a squad size that's absolutely fine but still not enough depth. Do you see Pulis being a valuable member of the team this season? He contributes to the squad numbers, but offers no quality or support to any position and wont get used. So the number is fine, but we could still do with getting rid of a couple and bringing some more useful players in. One bad out + one good in and you have the same squad size but it's more useful and therefore has more depth. We have definitely improved since last season, which is a damn good thing. And we have improved in areas we really needed to improve in, such as RB, which is great. But IMO we are still a few players short (CM, winger, quality first choice striker). I also truly believe we should be playing our ideal, first 11 as much as possible during pre-season so by the time the start of the season is here, they are already used to each other and on a roll.

No. This forum is representative of the Internet... Weirdo, keyboard warriors who think they know everything about everything. Most Saints fans I have had the pleasure of meeting or watching a game with are interesting, normal folk.

A young promising one who knows KD wont be around forever and we could be heading towards the Prem when his time comes.

If we make another signing over the next fortnight, you're going to look a right ****.

Add one more Mac to this list... with both Firefox and Safari. Consistent among all three computers I use.

Happens on two different PC's (one Mac and one PC), three different browsers on each (Safari, Chrome, Firefox on Mac... IE7, Firefox, Opera on PC) and the cookies, temp files, cache and all other browsing data has been wiped from them all. It's been happening since the change, so plenty of logins and logouts for it to kick into life.

I have the same problem as mentioned above... it only affects the first page and I'm recognised once I've entered a sub forum, without having to log in again. Just means The Saints forum isn't visible.

Different Ownership and Managment, same old summer

No, no... That's exactly what I was doing. I thought that was obvious? -

Alpine is a genius. If we start the season badly, he can say I told you so and have an excuse to continue making these threads. And any time somebody shouts him down, he can remind them that he was right. If we start the season really well and continue to have great success, Alpine can shout down anybody who reminds him of this as not being a true fan and being more interested in shouting at him, than the club. It's genius. -
Will this be the same as last time, where the forum was asked to design and vote for the new banner... and then it was utterly ignored and one not even in the running was chosen?
-
I'll be sweating a little too, but I didn't interpret it that way... I think he is aware that we rely on Lambert too much and without him, we struggle to play our normal game. Our team isn't built around him as such, but he is such an important and visible player that there is a hole without him. If he were to break his leg in pre-season we need to be prepared. No excuses. If that did happen and AP didn't have a Plan B, this forum would ruin him for it. So it's a damn good idea to have started without him and proof of his importance that he had to be brought on. I agree with others though that we should focus on a solid midfield that can create chances for others. Then if Lambert is out of the picture for any reason, we can feed our forwards without his link-up play and still create chances.

Southampton is a ****e night out. Bedford place is OK but full of students or stuck-up tossers. The lower end of town is good if you're looking for drugs or a fight. Leisure World is good if you're looking for a 15 year old slag, a WKD and a fight. Bournemouth has it's fair share of this too, but largely has a more relaxed atmosphere. But then, my idea of a good night out involves drinking and having a laugh with mates rather than getting smashed and looking for a STI and a fight. I wouldn't want to live in the centre of either, but as a city, I much prefer Southampton. When it comes to the football, I wish Bournemouth well and I feel no hatred nor love towards them. Anything that promotes South coast football is a good thing, so I hope Bournemouth do well. But I honestly think, with a bit of investment and stability, League 1 is their level and no more.
