I bought my Walsall tickets a couple of weeks ago as that's one game I can definitely get to and I can see it being a fantastic atmosphere.

Let's be positive and say we're in the Championship next season... Which positions do you think we need to strengthen in order to be successful? IMO, we need a solid centre back first, a powerhouse like Jaidi... just Jaidi five years ago. I'd also like to see some quality competition brought into our wide positions, so we aren't so reliant on AOC and Lallana, but also to allow Lallana to move inside a bit more. I hope we don't make too many changes though, as keeping some consistency from this season would be of benefit and I do think we have some quality in our squad.

I assume 'up there' is Southampton?

He looked calm and composed and I don't remember any mistakes, but he wasn't greatly involved in the time he had on the pitch. I did notice him showing some leadership potential though, clapping and motivating team mates, he was very vocal at times and always quick to support others. I agree with Saint Charlie - Start Stephens over Chaplow on Tuesday, who needs to calm down a bit and concentrate on his football.

The chap next to me was good value yesterday too! Everyone was called a **** at some stage, for reasons known only to him I'm sure. But he would confuse himself too... at one stage he shouted 'Guly you ****' at Jono Forte, realised a second later he got it wrong, then went on to praise Forte. That was pretty much the theme of things for 90 minutes

I think you should post pictures of yourself, so we can all revel in your beauty and to justify that comment. Welcome Jack, I'm sure we all hope to see you do well here

I think a Moderator should close this now and put TDD out of his misery. The point has been made.

That's a bloody hard run-in. Charlton have the potential to scare most teams on their day, even if they lack consistency at the moment and are on a bit of a slump. Posh, MK Dons and Brighton are all going to be tough going and are all fighting for promotion too, so home advantage will count for a lot. That just leaves D&R and Brentford as 'sure things'. I'd say 7 points from that lot, 9 at a push.

No, this isn't another 'be the difference' type of thread, you'll be pleased to hear. Just about to watch Posh Vs B'Muff and Sky did a nice little intro of all the promotion chasing clubs. It showed Brighton first, of course, and I felt genuinely pleased for them and their progress and I really do want to see them promoted. Later was B'Muff and I thought... I really want to like you, I really used to like you, but I just can't like you. The difference, IMO, is the fans. B'Muff fans have been nothing less than arseholes this last couple of seasons. But I've not seen the same BS from Brighton fans, so I wish them well. I also have a lot of time for both Carlisle and Sarf'end as their fans were absolutely great when we have played them. Millwall have a reputation for thug-like fans and thug-like football tactics. So is it really the fans that create a clubs reputation, regardless of what the club does? I wonder if we're the reasons many other clubs don't like Southampton FC?

Footballers aren't very bright, are they.

It could seem like we won promotion by collecting tokens on the back of Frosties for all I care, so long as we go up. I'd much rather scrape up than fight with style, flair and passion but end up staying in L1. Don't get me wrong, I want to see entertaining, attractive football with loads of goals, lots of flair from a team that look like world beaters. But all of that comes second to success at the moment. When we're back as an established Premiership team and our promotion chasing days are behind us, along with our relegation battling days, I'll flip that around and make the pretty stuff my No.1 priority

Saints sign 21 year old Dale Stephens on loan - official
RobM replied to Saint_clark's topic in The Saints
Does that mean all of our players are rubbish compared to the squads at Brighton, Peterborough and Huddersfield? -
This is, by some margin, the best thread on this forum for a very long time. Informative and entertaining, all at the same time.

Full marks to the chefs and nutritionists at Staplewood then!

Great to hear these sort of comments at any time, but seems a bit better when the attendance was fairly low compared to normal. Well done St.Marys!

Nope, got to be a win for Franchise.
-
I don't agree with their predictions of us vs Charlton and MK Dons, which I think will be a loss and a draw respectively, but otherwise I think they have it about right. I hope I'm wrong and they are right... it's just a hunch I have.

You're a bunch of girls, get over yourselves.

This joke can only be made once per thread. Sorry.

I think you're a homo who has a thing for Drew Surman. Good player though, would love to see him back here

Why does anyone think that suddenly, the club is going to change their tight-lipped, secretive, professional, wont-talk-about-a-deal-until-its-done stance and start blabbing information to the world? Nobody had even the slightest, genuine clue that we were going to sign a CM until NA mentioned it, but yet everyone is now suddenly ITK. Really?
-
Absolutely. If we had said we aim to win games, get promoted and be successful whatever it takes people would have expected success - anything else is a bonus. But claiming we should also play in a certain way means people will, quite rightly, want to see us play in that way. But IMO, only a fool would fail to see that attractive football comes second to winning games.

Which games do you think we should have gotten better results at, since the start of this year (the time on which this thread is based)? (edit) Also, give me some examples of English teams who do meet your expectations for consistency, results and the level of performance you expect.
