  1. Rubbish. Come on Huddersfield!
  2. That's because Rupert was a businessman, always and only. He was good at that, regardless of our shared hatred towards him. But the trouble was, he could only see our club as a business and totally neglected anything that didn't suit his single-minded, arrogant and, let's face it, flawed view of how SFC should be run. He neglected the importance of fans, he ignored the opportunity to build on the momentum of a great season and FA Cup run (ironically, a bad business decision too) and he placed his own sense of celebrity and self-importance above everything else. But, some of his ideas were sound, such as those you mention above and investing in youth. I can't think of many more though.
  3. Why shouldn't it count? It's no different to SFC making money out of Halo Events and using St.Marys to host events and conferences. I think this sort of thing should be encourage... not renting parts of the stadium as housing necessarily, but acting like a business and finding new revenue streams away from football to support and develop the club. If the club sets itself up in any other industry and makes money out of it, money which can be used to support and develop the club, this has to be better than relying on Sugar Daddies, debt and gifts from the leagues above, no?
  4. I see this as part of the problem, rather than justification for the parachute payment. It's up to the club, while in the Prem, to ensure they can survive should they be relegated and surviving in this case includes complying with the league rules. They should have wage-cut clauses in players contracts, they should have money in the bank as a buffer to ensure further debt isn't required and they should be held accountable if they have committed to too much and cannot service that. It would only be a problem operating like this if some clubs don't want to join in, causing players to reject moves to clubs that enforce a wage cut clause upon relegation. As you say yourself, clubs come into trouble when they have been, or are still reliant on money from other benefactors. IMO, this includes the parachute payment. At worst, keep the parachute payment but for one year only, to allow clubs the time to restructure. Any time needed longer than that is either a conscious decision not to release players, or bad management in signing players on long contracts and not being able to maintain that commitment.
  5. The problem you have, IMO, is a large percentage of the Bournemouth population moved there, rather than being born and growing up there. It therefore can't be counted as the home team of many people living there.
  6. It says a lot that hearing our current player was starting left me cold, but hearing those two are coming on pleases me
  7. Stewards had to hold back four or five middle-aged BMuff fans who were getting at a Huddersfield player trying to take a corner. Not sure what he did that deserved that, but they weren't pulling punches with their abuse.
  8. Even if he does go on to be a consistently good Prem striker, I still wouldn't want him here. Good strikers are out there who would want and be excited to play for us, so this arrogant little gob****e can do-one.
  9. Watching the BMuff fans during the last Huddersfield corner, really makes me want BMuff to lose. Nasty old bastards.
  10. Sounds awesome. And anybody who immediately starts using the word 'we' is clearly on the bus with the rest of us. Good times.
  11. I think it will be a dull summer. A few people leaving, only a two or three joining, no rumours, no drama, simple times. Oh, let's not forget the launch of a new kit...
  12. Absolutely. Not necessarily an entire squad, but Prem experience in key positions. You get out of the CCC by being better than all the other teams. The other teams have CCC players, so we need to match and better that.
  13. I really don't think we need to replace Kelvin. He has another couple of good seasons in him and Bart is ready and waiting to take his place. I'd personally stick with KD for the next season and use every opportunity to get Bart in, when sensible to do so, with a view to those positions being swapped the year after. If we get to the Prem in one season, that's the only time I'd consider changing keepers. There will be many teams competing against us next season that would love to take KD off of our hands. Or Bart, for that matter.
  14. Let's be fair though... wouldn't you take any possible opportunity to get out of Skatesville, if you lived there?

    Guly

Guly has been getting better and better ever since he came here, so while he does still need to improve, grow and mature in some areas, if he carries on in the way he has been, we don't have a problem.
  16. In how many starts and appearances from the bench?

    Guly

Did we ever call off that Taxi for him? He took time to settle down and find his feet here, he still has the odd dumb moment, but what a player. We will rely on him next season, one of the few players who can make something out of nothing.
  18. I think the foundations have already been set for next season. We have players plenty good enough to play in the CCC and we have had plenty of time together as a team, so the foundations are there. We just need to add some quality in key places, remove some players who clearly wont stand a chance with us and, most importantly, get a really good pre-season under our belts. In the thread discussing NA's appointment I voted 'Undecided'. I've now decided... he is the right man for us. He is the right man for modern football in general, combining intelligence, sport science and motivational skills really well. We're lucky to have him, regardless of how amazed and impressed you are buy his name and history. I also hope, next season, some people learn his name. It's Adkins, not Atkins... that's a diet.
  19. A midfield general, brought in to boss the game and sit alongside Morgan, with Lallana and AOC either side of them... what more could any team want?
  20. You would be standing alongside 99% of the rest of the forum, possibly the world, so it's fine by me.
  21. Prioritising cricket over this game should be an instant ban from this forum and your red and white stripes removed
  22. Pacey, strong, creative winger - To take the pressure off of Lallana Experienced CCC+ striker Midfield Boss - Strong, leader, makes things happen. The only other position I'd consider strengthening is CB, bringing in somebody like Jaidi, but younger. I'm hesitant though, since Jaidi has been so impressive lately.
  23. Celebrating coming second is a bit desperate.
