I think they are a necessary evil, but not if they are used to host friendly games! For competitive games, they are necessary IMO. Not necessarily for us right now, but we are aiming for the top and that will hopefully include picking up some international players along the way. If we didn't have these breaks, we would either lose those players so they can play for their country, or they would have to try and fit club and country games in and risk injury and fatigue. So I don't like them, I don't really care about international football, but it would be short sighted to say I want to get rid of them. It will come back and haunt us if we achieve the success and positions we wish for. If we were happy to stick in this league and not pick up international players, I might be on the side of getting rid.

Sad but true. I thought the membership fees were going to fund the hosting needed to improve things, but it doesn't seem to be the case.

I bet he would absolutely love Saints if we were the ones to offer him a big salary this season.

We should bring him back to mentor Puncheon. Seems like an ideal role model.

I thought he was played out of position. He was superb for Burley at Hearts in a central midfield position. Burley didn't use him in that position for us and he wasn't as good. I know he had played in other positions for his country and other teams, but his best performances and those that ultimately brought him to us - with much excitement, let's not forget - was a central role. We ignored that.

After reading niemi14's post and Twitter conversation, I think SCW and Cliffords relationship might have been a bit closer than we all thought.

Including SFC Steward Slapping a Fan (Video of Post-Match)

I actually agree with the sentiment, but it wasn't the right thing to do. -
My sentiments too, it seemed like they saw him as the weak link. I actually came out of the game more of a fan of him and less of Richardson, who I thought had a poor game yesterday. I would have predicted the exact opposite beforehand.

Awesome argument. Have a biscuit. -
Between Cork and Davis for me, but Cork wins. Kelvin deserves an honourable mention for being so calm and controlled under pressure, especially towards the end of the game.

Including SFC Steward Slapping a Fan (Video of Post-Match)

The moment she puts on the stewards vest she represents Southampton FC. There is now a video online which will no doubt be picked up on by numerous other clubs fans that makes our club look bad, undermines the hard work stewards do and will give those who visit St.Marys a bad impression of these stewards before they have even entered the stadium. Stewards are already seen as the enemy to some fans, having a video like this really doesn't help that. If the person she slapped was a member of her family, that lessens the offence. Does it say that in the video though? Does the video make it 100% clear that this is a family dispute? Will rival fans or those critical of the club know this? No. So all that is left is a representative of our club slapping somebody on camera during unrest between fans. That's why I think she should be sacked. Think back to what happened on this forum when Forecast was rumoured to have smacked somebody in public, he was hated here for it... thank goodness that wasn't on camera, published by our own fans on YouTube. Oh and for what its worth, I too believe that a bit of tough-love is what this country needs. But the rules and laws don't allow that so when you're in a position of authority, you stick within those rules and laws, a concept I'm sure you're familiar with in your trade. If the laws change and a quick slap becomes an acceptable way of handling people causing trouble, this entire debate becomes null and void. -
That's impressive if correct, given the fact it was on TV, which normally reduces attendances.

Let's hope the club see this. Stewards have a difficult enough job to do, without people judging them based on her actions before they have started. She should be sacked. -
Even when he does get knocked over, 9 times out of 10 he gets back up with little fuss and drama. He'll need to change that habit if we make it to the Prem', where rolling around and crying like a girl is the accepted norm.
-
There will always be people in both sets of fans who want the trouble, but at least by locking the away fans in it gives those people who want to stay away the chance to get out. Daft decision.
-
Please tell me that's irony?

We may have sold him last week, but he was gone last season.

Oh god, I'm starting to think my 3-1 Saints bet might not have been optimistic enough... I've got Lambert to score first with 3-1 Saints @ 85/1... perhaps I should have gone for 5-0?
-
3-1 Saints, Lambert with his first of the season and DC with the other two. Please?

Depends on age and previous coaching, surely? Proven not good enough could in fact be proven not yet good enough. But any experience is good experience in this case, which will help development. 24 is no baby, but far from the finished product too.
