  1. Leeds home - the first moment where suddenly, success in the NPC seemed a very real prospect. Middlesborough away - a big game we should have won and didn't, which IMO sticks out as a big and very important game. Coventry home - We needed to get promoted on merit. We we're on TV to the world. We turned up and showed the world how much we deserve promotion! For any neutrals who had watched us on TV in our other games, they may have been doubtful of our credentials... until yesterday.
  2. As much as we would all like to dream otherwise, it's a reality of promotion that some players will move on and others will come in. Just look at the promoted teams from last season to see that, they all had to do the same. I think the OP's summary of the definite In's and Out's is about right. I do think we will and should keep Guly and Hammond. I think Guly will be more suited to the Prem' than Hammond, but both deserve a chance to prove themselves. Same with Punch, he has Prem experience and did OK, so might be worth keeping around. For me, RB and LB are two key areas to strengthen, as well as cover at CB. I think we need some pace in attack (not necessarily the strikers themselves) and I think a CM with Prem experience will help solidify the team. Otherwise, we're not in a bad place.
  3. Or Everton's Moyes, which is probably more apt. There is certainly no reason why not.
  4. Absolutely agree. Reading seem a decent and honest club, McDermott seems a genuinely likeable chap, Reading fans seem gracious, so good on them. WHam, like Brighton, are the polar opposite in every sense.
  5. We've also played just as many Championship games, despite him proclaiming to be a Championship 'keeper.

    Adkins off?

Don't be daft, they gone all-out and appointed these two Dutch fella's you see, who have promised Barca fans they will bring Southampton-style football...

    Adkins off?

He was emotional and rambling, it was just nice to hear him speak about himself for a change. He isn't going anywhere, why would he?! He was just being honest about his time with us.
  8. Probably just being allowed near professional footballers, must be nice for him. I was sat near him today, he didn't seem very interested.
  9. A naked Fonte... looks like that team spirit is alive and kicking!

    Cortese

Massive respect for not just what he has done for us, but for having the balls and courage to stand by his own decisions, even the ones that had the potential to upset people. While not always popular, I can't think of anything he has done wrong. He is the driving force behind us. When times go bad it's the Chairman that gets the blame, so it's only fair that in our good times, the Chairman gets the credit!

    Fonte....

Absolutely, he even looked surprised a couple of times to still have it at his feet! It made it all the sweeter when he got one for himself after. Great game today.
  12. Not bothered isn't the right word... I'll be very bothered, gutted in fact. I want to see the best possible players at Saints, playing at the highest level against the best opposition. I want to be in the Prem. But if we don't make it I'll get over it quite quickly. This season has been the most enjoyable in a long, long time of supporting Saints. It's a competitive, honest league with good quality teams where anybody can beat anybody else on their day. It's affordable, it's fun and there is no shame in being in the NPC. But we will make it to the Prem, we will beat Coventry and we will say goodbye to the NPC and for that, I'll be delighted.
  13. DC is the only player who can mentally keep up with Lallana. They have a similar vision and see the same runs and opportunities, allowing DC to feed off of Lallana. Sadly he isn't up to it physically, as he'd be a first-team regular otherwise.
  14. You just know, with all this Leicester pressure and possession, that WHam are about to score.
  15. Leicester are still fighting!
  16. Bastard cracking bastard goal.
  17. Lloyd Dyer's just become my favourite player of the night.
  18. Nigel Pearson's got that look on his face, like he could smash anybody in the face, just for giggles.
  19. WHam are going to smash them, aren't they

    Nigel

Headlines will be forgotten about before the week is out, but promotion will be remembered for much longer, especially if we maintain our Prem position should we get there. So Pearson's Leicester winning and giving us the title is perfect IMO, as that means there is no way we can screw it up. I'd take a guaranteed promotion tomorrow night over an exciting possible promotion every day of the week.
  21. Wow. I don't think that's true at all. KD has Prem experience and is good enough for another season or two. Jos has been solid, if not as consistent as we'd like, but shown enough for the PL. Cork, Morgan, Lallana I'm confident can do a good job in the PL. Rickie I think would adapt well to any league, Sharp will provide the poacher 'right place, right time' forward that again works well in any league. IMO, the core of our starting lineup is good enough. What we need is another CM, a quality RM (although Chappers might have a part to play), a big CB and a new RB to compliment those that are good enough.
  22. Agreed, although I'm not sure Fonte will take well to being a backup, but that's his problem. I think Jos alongside somebody like a young Jaidi and a new RB would be a decent proposition.
  23. Are you telling fans how they should behave?
