Agreed, that CB pairing seems to be quite solid now, they're doing the simple things really effectively. They've also found their roles - Fonte gets forward, Yoshi stays back and covers. A good performance today all-round, another clean sheet and most importantly, three points. Not an amazing game, we should have made more of our chances and dominance, but it's hard to grumble too much when you were so dominant.

Ironic, sure, but this post sums up this forum entirely - why bother talking about football, when you can goad and taunt and look to start fights. Pathetic. We need moderators on this forum. We need someone with the balls to stamp out this crap and get back to football.

Interesting comment about their stadium being in a 'more accessible' location. It shows what NC and Co. think of St.Marys as a location, perhaps hinting at a stadium move in the future.

Very annoying, especially since Radio Solent stop broadcasting the sports show online at 2PM.
-
Agreed. Calm and measured, did the simple things right and looked good.

I think the people you're trying to convince and the very people you'll never convince. You are of course right - Cortese, like many Chairmen or CEO, rarely speaks to the press so when he does, it should be considered PR rather than a radical insight into SFC. Some get that, others don't.

A fairly obvious answer, of course. The question is why though. Was it out of spite, selfishness, evil determination for world dominance? Or to protect the reputation of the club, to ensure we don't put potential managers off, to keep us out of the headlines and keep disruption to a minimum?

Puncheon is your typical Premiership player. He comes first. The ability to say he is a top Premiership player is the motivation. Who he actually plays for comes behind that. So long as we're in the Premiership, he will give it his all, play his best and do all he can to put in a good performance. Don't think he is doing it for the love of Saints though, he's doing it because he wants to be a Premiership footballer. Should we care? Not at all.

They're saying similar things to us posters here last week, he's trying to be too clever when something simpler would do.

Off the bloody post. Great attacking moves so far, we look very dangerous.

That's an advert. Wait for the countdown at the top of the steam to end and a 'Close' button will appear at the bottom. Click it, advert goes away.

Academic Study on the Effect of Changing Football Manager
RobM replied to dvaughanwilliams's topic in The Saints
Howe is clearly a better manager though, he wasn't doing terribly where he was and could comfortably manage at a higher level than he has accepted. Also, he is a local legend, the club, players and fans love him, so it's win-win for Bournemouth - they get a better manager and somebody everyone loves and wants to play for. If we had an option like this, it would make perfect sense. But we don't. -
Academic Study on the Effect of Changing Football Manager
RobM replied to dvaughanwilliams's topic in The Saints
Which is the most important point in this - sacking Adkins only makes sense if we can bring in somebody better and more experienced in this league. If we can't do that, or are changing to somebody equally as good, what's the point? -
Is our misfortune due to us not wearing proper stripes
RobM replied to Viking Warrior's topic in The Saints
Yes, the pattern of the shirt has a direct affect on the quality of our performance. -
Sadly, he is. He's by no means the worst around, but he knows the game, he knows that going down easily might win him a penalty and he makes the most of it. He did it last season, he's doing it this season.
-
A much better performance, better going forward, more creative, more confident, better defensively... but yet again an individual error cost us dear. You can't blame the manager, formation or anything but the individual if they decide to do something stupid.
-
Agree he played better, but he was knackered, he isn't match fit yet and his legs couldn't keep going. But he did show he is well worth sticking with at LB, better defensively than Fox.
-
Shaw isn't match fit, he needed to go off. The problem is we don't have any quality in that position to replace him with.
-
Gazza should never have tried that pass though, it was pretty obvious that Yoshida was under pressure. Gazza should have gotten rid of it.
-
Super, Fox on for Shaw
-
Gifted that goal to them too, terrible clearance.

********. Dyer as well, had to be.

Nigel went mental at that!
