  1. Sure, but which have made us look like a 'terrible club'? It's made NC look a plank for sure, but it hasn't made us look a terrible club due to the success, results and performances that have been maintained and improved on since he came onboard, which is ultimately how we're judged from the outside. The bit about Adkins is rumour too, nothing has been said by Adkins, the club or anybody close to what really, truly happened. The best is people saying 'I know what happened' and then going quiet when asked 'what?'. Everything we hear is rumour. Like I said, I'm not a fan of NC's as a bloke, he has made himself look an idiot, but I don't see how we've been made to look 'a terrible club'.
  2. Out of interest, what has he done to make us look like a terrible club? I'm hardly a big fan of his, but I can't think of anything that fits this other than forum rumours and gossip. Even his bolder moves, like replacing Adkins with MP, are now being praised by the press as this Soccer Saturday piece shows. In fact, I dare say we're now more popular and more frequently praised than we have been in quite a while.
  3. He did, it was the last line of the section and said with a cheeky smile... plus met with one from MLT too.
  4. It was a good watch and your summary reflects it very well, for those who missed it!
  5. No idea, I couldn't see, his aim was terrible.
  6. That starting lineup would have collected a few points in L1.
  7. My favourite quote was "splash, splash and one for the gash" as he gave me a squirt on my chest and then between the legs!
  8. Much better, I agree with your points too - it's lazy journalism to link selling the likes of Bale, AOC, Walcott etc for many millions of pounds is a good business move for a L1 or Championship club, but terrible business for a Premiership club trying to make strides forward, without considering why a club might sell. I wouldn't say Lamberts career is finished should he move to WHam, but it certainly won't improve. The only way he would take a step forward in his career is moving to a bigger club and getting a regular starting place, which isn't likely. A sideways (at this stage) move to WHam would do him no favours.
  9. That's freaky!
  10. Genuine question... Is their squad deep enough to allow them to leave out some of their better and more regular players? I thought they were quite limited, in attacking options especially.
  11. Your posts are becoming impossible to read, it makes your eyes spin.
  12. Banning something because some people can't handle it properly seems crazy to me, unless there is an explicitly clear safety risk. Drinking beer at a footy ground is no more dangerous than drinking beer at the cinema, at a gig, at the cricket or anywhere else where people sit in stands together. I'd say it's safer than scalding-hot coffee at a footy ground - rather wet with beer than wet and scalded with coffee - so the argument about it being spilt seems dumb. What seems more important is having a way of dealing with problems as they arise, rather than blanket bans. Therefore, if there are people out there who will get tanked up on beer and act like idiots, have something in place to deal with them. If there are people who feel strongly about it, perhaps making the family areas a no-alcohol zone is the answer. For what it's worth, I go to footy for the footy rather than the beer, so I've no vested interest in this.
  13. So the logic is because he can score goals at every level, be that the Championship or the Premiership (as he's proving at the moment) he will step down a league and demand whatever money he wants on a short-contract. That, from a man who has never once shown as signs of being motivated by money, who has said he wants to play in the Premiership, who has said he wants to remain at Saints and who is already earning a very respectable wage. It would take something of a personality transplant for this 'logic' to come true.
  14. When he got the role it was said he would be in Africa trying to establish closer links with clubs. A lot of African players end up playing in France and we want to tap into that, so we're using Jaidi to start that.
  15. I hoped he would feature more and had a sneaky feeling that with games and patience (as we've shown JRod and others who didn't impress at first) he would come good. His footballing brain and movement off the ball were always a level above most others in our team and that, IMO, would have suited this league well. But, that said, we have others who are doing very well on a regular basis and now is not the time to try and bring a new starter into the mix, so a move does seem the right thing to do.

    Lambert

I agree with this entirely. For the sake of contrast, somebody like Owen struggled the moment he lost his nippy-mobility and the ability to run in behind defenders. Somebody like Lambert has never relied on that, it's not his game, so he could well go on for some time yet at a similar level of performance. That said, I don't believe we will see him as a guaranteed starter every game in a years time, but I do think he will still play an important role. I think we will see some new and fresh faces come in over the summer.
  17. Let's be honest, as much as Saints fans may love Adkins, he hasn't suddenly turned into the next Sir.Alex or Mourinho, he isn't quite a 'big name'. But equally, you'd hope that should a team like Leeds appoint him their fans would be able to see that his promotion record and style of football is decent and he is a very good long-term shout. That's what Leeds need IMO, a long-term vision and some patience to allow somebody to build something great. Much like we needed...
  18. Sign him up, no doubt. He has been one of our most consistent players this season, always puts in a good shift, is willing to defend and seems to be able to adapt to different playing styles easily enough. He might not be the most gifted, we will certainly be looking to strengthen our wide positions, so the worst case is we sign him up and then sign somebody better who takes his place. Having him on the bench, desperate to prove himself, can only be a good thing. The only hesitation I have is his temperament should he be dropped, but he has shown no signs of the bad attitudes of the past.
  19. Of course, how dumb of me. We're now 4-points off the relegation zone, but the good news is we're just three points off WHam.
  20. Oh cock.
  21. You're right, of course, and I'd never say we shouldn't aim as high as we can, but this season was all about consolidating our position in the Prem and building a team for next season. A comfortable finish is the priority, not scrapping over 11th-13th positions that nobody will remember the order of in a years time.
  22. I lol'd
  23. I feel so dirty, cheering on WHam to win. I do think it's the best result for us though. WHam winning keeps us 6 points and a healthy GD ahead of the relegation zone. Since we aren't really competing against WHam this season, I don't care if they move ahead of us even further. It's all about the distance to relegation for me.
  24. But Clyne can actually play LB and has done many times in his career, very capably too. Forren is a CB and therefore has very different qualities and a very different approach to the game than a fullback. Putting a CB at LB would have been a risk, putting a fullback who can play LB at LB and a RB at RB is less so, even if the RB isn't the quality we'd like (he did OK though to be fair). This decision didn't harm us, if anything I stopped worrying about our LB position! I'm as keen to see Forren playing as the next Saints fan, but only if it's the right thing to do, rather than doing it for the sake of it or to justify a transfer.
  25. Adkins was, 100%. But he wasn't on the pitch. There seems to be an enhanced belief about our players that is greater than before and our game play and tactics are more positive than under Adkins. He would have absolute faith and positivity, but would still be defensive and negative at times, especially in his sub's.
