Don't think we should turn this into a weather report thread. We may end up killing certain people from Vegas & Southern CA who start complaining about it getting down to 60 at night. Poor things. Just meeting some friends over from England for a p#ss-up and to see some bands on the Sat night. Weather won't matter too much (even Chicago can't get snowed in this time of the year - can it?) We will have a CTA travel pass. Any pubs near-ish a station you recommend for a quick visit late afternoon on the Sat? Won't have long but may have a couple of hours to kill. Just under 5 hours til KO in our world. Come on you Saints - really give Reading a tonking.

http://msn.foxsports.com/foxsoccer/tvschedule 6pm ET Sunday 30 Oct on FSP. Saints v Mboro. A 32 hour delay but yet another full game (it's not showing as being live online on foxsoccer.tv at the moment). ChicagoSaint - I'm up in Chicago that weekend but should be back by 6pm Sunday. No tracking me down and shouting the score out cos I'll be avoiding it. 1st things 1st. Reading game on Sat. Gonna be a good afternoon.

Yeah was a great game (bar not getting 3 points). It shows how far Saints have come in recent times though. We were away to the 3rd placed team, in front of a full-house and we are a bit gutted to only get a draw. I know I was a bit gutted anyway - we def looked the better team. It was BigShadow who 1st flagged up the game as being on a next day delay. I think we've got the suss of it now though (if it's live online on foxsoccer.tv then it's on delay on FSP - at some point over the weekend). Roll on next weekend. Avoiding the score for a couple of hours will definitely be worth it. Way better than radio commentary or hoping that some free stream holds up. Promotion party pss-up in Chicago anyone?
-
Well I managed to avoid the Derby v Saints score for the 31 hours. Watched it yesterday at 5pm ET. The only mild hassle was not being able to watch Arse/Sland & Newc/Spurs games with the sound on ("Pardew came from Southampton who of course were involved in that crazy 9-4 victory at Derby yesterday in the Championship"). Next weeks 2 hour delay will be bliss. If we are on a 30 hour delay again I'll do the same. It is definitely worth it.

It is $170 a year (rather than $240 if you do it month-by-month) https://secure.foxsoccer.tv/buy A couple of ifs... IF Saints get promoted and IF getting this means you see every game live (either on FSC, FSP or online) then count me in next season. You wouldn't need SaintsPlayer ($50-$60 a year) for radio commentary if you could watch the game. Let's a do a test over the coming weeks on the promoted teams. Norwich, Swansea & QPR. See if all games are actually live. (you do know this is tempting fate way too much but f*** it - we are top of the league at the moment so why not!)
-
Nice one - it is listed as being live on http://www.foxsoccer.tv/upcoming - it also shows that Reading v Saints is on live there (no delay). It's just the online version of Fox Soccer Channel so all above-board etc. Trouble is this means you have to subscribe to it for $20 a month and it's one of those recurring subscriptions. I don't mind paying $15 a month for FSP but not sure about paying for online stuff. Looking at it though it appears to have all the Sat 3pm Prem games that ain't live on TV here. I'd prob pay for it then. That would mean you'd get to see Saints live every game (if of course they can get promoted.... C'MON YOU SAINTS!!!) Anyone already subscribe to it? Is it good quality (like it is on espn3.com)? Anyway - to see confimation of the delayed showings go to: http://msn.foxsports.com/foxsoccer/tvschedule Choose 'Fox Soccer Plus' from the drop down and you'll see them listed.
-
Nice one. I didn't know that. Double checked & yep - it's on FSP 5pm ET on Sun 16th Oct. I think I may well try to avoid the score. I may even be proper hardcore and record it. Watch the NFL as usual and then watch the Saints game. Can't be that hard to not know the score - it's not as if on 3rd and goal some commentator is gonna go 'can't believe that Saints beat Derby 8-0 yesterday - what a game'. It seems a bit random what Championship games they show on delay. They show quite a few though. Hopefully we'll get the Blackpool & Pompey games - if not live then hopefully with a not too much of a delay.

I can handle pretty much anyone on the commentary nowadays apart from: Comm: Peter Drury Co-comm: David Pleat Especially Drury. The most annoying, patronising idiot every to be let loose on a microphone in the history on football. Pleat never shuts the F* up. The only time I like him as co-comm is if it's Drury as main. It's totally un-listenable but at least it's less Drury.

I think TV companies as a whole (not just Sky) and wary of the way things are going. Landlines, CD's & books were all mainstays of society not so long ago. They still are to some degree but not as much thanks to new technologies. Same with watching football on TV. If Saints get to the Prem then the 'is there a stream for the game?' won't be such a stupid question. There probably will be. All round the world there are 3pm Sat live English games and someone is streaming them. They are fighting a losing battle. Being able to stick a dish up and point it at Greece is prob the least of their worries. How many people would actually do this? Compared to those willing to go to watchpremfootball.com - not many. See what happens anyway....
-
Just a heads-up here. Reading v Saints is on Fox Soccer Plus at 2pm ET on Sat Oct 22. So it isn't live. Only a couple of hours delay so shouldn't be too hard to avoid the score. It's also being shown again at midnight ET. I just hope they have the crowd sound turned on. Unlike the Spurs v Arsenal game on at the moment. It's bad enough having Peter Drury as commentator but when you can't hear the crowd it sucks double badly.

http://oatcakefanzine.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=Potters&action=display&thread=176003 Not too bad at all.

4-0 to Saints. An easy 3 points.
-
Far from a classic. Was it 2 poor teams or 2 good teams cancelling each other out? I quite like the low scoring tight games though. Way more watchable than some blow-out game that is all but over at half time. I see Lions @ Cowboys is on Sky this Sunday. A good test for the Lions to see if they are serious contenders.
-
I think the gist of this is why I like the NFL. The salary cap really does work. You can have the best players in the glamour positions but if this is at the expense of your defensive backs, offensive linemen etc it will be hard for these good players to shine. I wouldn't say the Rams are that bad. Just that yesterday the Ravens made them look bad (just like they did the Steelers in Week 1). Reproduce those 2 games (what the hell happened @ TEN?) and you'll beat the Jets easily next week.
-
Well 3 games down. 13 to go. The Bills coming back from 21-0 down to beat the Patriots was an incredible result. How many more games do the Bills have to win to be taken as serious contenders? If it had been the other way round the media would have had their tougue so far up Brady's a*** it would have turned almost black. Brady actually showed a few signs of bottling it yesterday. You don't become bad based on one game but it just shows that a bit of pressure gets to everyone. NE @ OAK next week. Quite an important game now for both of these teams. Eagles? Well perhaps now the media can drop the 'dream team' hype around them. Praps they can hype the 3-0 Lions instead? Packers? Despite winning it last year I didn't really rate them. I think I could be wrong here though. Broncos. It's only a conspiracy the size of Watergate that has them not at 3-0. It's Broncos @ Packers next week. This could be painful to watch - or the game where the Broncos get it together. I'll go with the latter until proved wrong. I'd like to see WAS win tonight. Another team with no media love-in but have started well. Even if he starts then surely Romo won't be 100%? If he does play (and play well) then fair play. Should be a good game whatever happens.
-
I can see an easy win for Saints here. Saints to score at least 4.
-
Guilty as charged there but I think the question was 'what are the odds we draw Newcastle' (with no mention of H/A). That ain't 30/1. Anyway - who really gives a flying one. What ever name comes out of the hat, comes out of the hat... Talking of Cup draws - I hate this modern day thing of knowing what number your team is. Half the fun of a draw was trying to work out what number you were (cos Stoke were number 28, we must be about 25) as it went along. Always being totally wrong of course, but it is way better waiting for the of your team to be read out - rather than the . All in my opinion of course but surely I can't be the only one who thinks this?
-
I know not everyone can be way more than just good friends with Carol Vorderman (like I am) but c'mon? There are 16 teams left in total in the competition. 15 other teams not including Saints. Newcastle are one of them. There are 14 others. This makes it 14/1 to draw them (or any other of the teams) (or is 15/1 - I'm saying 14/1 cos 14 chances you don't, 1 chance you do). Whatever - it def ain't 30/1. Odds to draw them at home? I'll let someone else work that out. Carol has had to pop down the shops for 5 mins.

http://www.ohwhenthespurs.co.uk/#/soton-v-thfc/4542136173 Some pics of the Archers here. Anyone got any more pics/stories of that day? Good to see the press in top shock-horror form with their 'perhaps punch someone' comment. (this Spurs site has quite a lot of good old pics/videos from the 70's - this is the only Saints game I could find on there though)
-
... and bottle it they did. Got a sob story for you here. I do a prediction thing on the local TV website. I normally do this on ESPN as well. Going into tonight's game I have 13 out of 15 right. I missed Houston and I don't believe this, Denver. I blindly do the Broncos to win every week but this time with all the injuries and the poor show v Oakland I picked bleedin' Cincinnati. First time ever I've gone against them and of course they win. This week I didn't do it on ESPN either. I have the Rams to win tonight. I can change this if I want. They are the outsiders (but not as much as the Titans were and they won). 14 out of 16 can often win it. Do I stick with the Rams or go with the Giants? Anyway - good to see the Bills & the Lions showing some early promise. SFC, AFC Totton & the Broncos are now all currently top of their divisions. You don't get to say that too often :-) (Broncos joint-top - counts for me)

American Football sucks.
-
Home to Preston in the League Cup, Rd 3 (they won 2-0 at Charlton tonight). Surely a great chance to get to the last 16 and then from there - who knows? Before anyone goes off on one it is possible to have a Cup run and get promoted in the same season. Good teams win games - whatever competition they happen to be playing in.
-
Going behind early but ending up winning with a late goal = bliss.

http://www.bigapplegreeter.org/02-how_spend/00-how_spend.html Now I've not used the greeters - but I know a couple of people who have and they said it was great. Basically you arrange for a NYC local to show you around their city. It doesn't cost you anything and you get to see parts of NYC that you may not find under your own steam. I think you can tell them the kind of things you wanna see. I'd love to do one of these with a request of 'show me back street bars' from the 5 different Boroughs. The sort of bars you wouldn't find by accident & where the locals drink. Anyway - to all those going - enjoy.

Yeah the year they finish bottom of the AFC West and finally stop always getting hyped up pre-season!
