  1. Fair play - that is a great video you put together to go with the song. Virtual beers winging their way towards you right now... Cheers.
  2. 2 mushes from Pompey. One is Pompey fan and one is a Liverpool fan. I'd rather have a beer with the Pompey fan.
  3. Bit of a long shot but just wondered if there are any Saints fans lurking around who live in Denver? There seems to be quite a few pubs there that open early to show the English football - wondered if anyone who is there had a recommendation?
  4. 1.30 - we don't forget - go and fork yourself Ferguson. 'you're not fit to referee' - just like most refs at Old Trafford. Blissful.
  5. Great song and that TV report is quality. Love the kid 'get rid of John Barnes and play Le Tissier'. Could not have put it any better myself. Do you know who did this? 'the aliens'.
  6. Read that 'truth' article by Mike Calvin: "The Millwall I know is rough and ready, but colour blind" He also makes a lot of other good points in what I think is a well written article. Back when that Panorama program was shown the 'black bloke in the pub' really confused the media. They wanted to tar all football hooligans as National Front types but after that it made it harder. They should have filmed another team instead.
  7. Millwall Football Club - the truth ( http://www.lifesapitch.co.uk/opinions/millwall-football-club-the-truth/ ) gives a more balanced view. Plus if you go back to the infamous pub scene from the Millwall Panorama documentary there is a black bloke in the pub with them. It's Northerners they don't like ('what you talking about - away' - comedy gold now actually): 5s
  8. Great fan video of the goals on that. Watching from afar on TV the support came across well. Apart from that poxy, undeserved, gutting late equaliser that was one of the best games of the season. We mullered em.
  9. Thought someone said there was no atmosphere there yesterday? This looks pretty good to me. The funny thing is - play this video to a lot of fans of foreign teams and it would be 'yeah, so what? at our ground the whole end is like that for every game'.
  10. If Saints can start off by doing this - ie not selling their best young players (ie Luke Shaw) to so-called bigger teams - then that will do me for now. Anything after this then see what happens.
  11. and that is the crux of the matter... Wanna stay til the end to cheer Saints off just after they have scored the winner in the 92nd minute? No chance then of being able to catch the tram/train back to Piccadilly. Dunno why but I think that those who are bothering to go may just be glad that they did. Stan James currently has us at 14/1 to win. Stick a tenner on to pay for the trip.
  12. If you are going to stay til the end of the game then that is pushing it. Remember you have 70,000 there - the trains near the ground are a nightmare. It's 2.8 miles to walk: https://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=Whitworth+St%2FA6&daddr=Sir+Matt+Busby+Way%2FB5188&hl=en&ll=53.465978,-2.272453&spn=0.059985,0.154324&sll=53.465978,-2.272496&sspn=0.014996,0.038581&geocode=FY7_LwMdPfHd_w%3BFRTHLwMd3xLd_w&gl=us&dirflg=w&mra=mru&t=m&z=13 This says 56 mins but assuming you ain't a fat b#stard you can scurry that in a lot shorter time than that. You could get some of the way and flag a cab - trouble is the traffic is heavy so it doesn't mean it'll be quicker. Plus if you do walk/run it in 30 mins (and even if you are a bit of an athlete you gotta remember that there will be tons of gormless gits around to weave in and out of so 30 mins is very optimistic) - you still have to get on the train at Piccadilly. The station can be busy with people who left early! Sorry - I've no idea how early you have to leave to be able to get the train or tram back into Manc to get your train. Judging by the all empty seats you see at FT there on TV for night games I'd suggest half time. Horrible away trip. Not surprised to see a lot of Saints fans sweeping this one off for Wigan. That said if Saints win at Man Utd then it will be a great one to say you were at. Here's hoping. Enjoy.

    Its happening!

You need to bookmark this. I can see the outrage already 'how the hell can Pochy get the sack - he's been our best manager ever'. Good thread (I don't think you are taking the p#ss?) and an interesting point of view - one I'm quite happy to buy into. I've never really liked Cortese but people like that don't do things to win popularity contests. He ain't stupid - he knew the fans would be unhappy in the short term. Just like a lot of them were 'Nigel who?' when Adkins was appointed 'we wanted someone good not some lower league physio'. It's a big gamble but you have to assume that he (Cortese) knows what he is doing. Thanks to the Markus Liebherr money there appears to be a long term plan here. It's happening!
  14. Wigan (A) Sat Feb 2nd. 10am ET. TV: FSP at 4pm ET. 6 hour delay. Almost definitely SD. The dead spot. Seen as the worst game of the day. Heathens.
  15. Enjoyed the game last night. Waiting til 8pm was fine (just like watching it at the real time in England). Next one announced is Man Utd (A) Weds 30 Jan. 8pm UK time. TV: Live on ESPN2 You can see why so many Americans do latch onto Man Utd - every one of their games is always on live and no 'only on ESPN Deportes' for them. Saints really must win the Prem & Champions League sometime soon...
  16. It was 'play of the day' on Fox Soccer News this evening in the USA. Shown from umpteen angles.
  17. For the HD snobs (which I'm half one) the Chelsea game tomorrow appears to be in SD live on FSP - but repeated at 8pm ET on FSC in HD. So for those taping and avoiding you could avoid a bit longer and see it with a decent picture.
  18. The QB's on Facebook were good this week: http://profootballmock.com/nfl-qbs-on-facebook-divisional-roundup/ It's near the knuckle as always. Brady calls Ray Lewis 'Stabby' - very unsubtle to say the least!
  19. American Football sucks.
  20. The next few: Sat Jan 12. Villa A. FSC. 4pm ET (6 hour delay) Wed Jan 16. Chelsea A. FSP. 2.45pm ET (live) Mon Jan 21. Everton A. TV: ESPNDeportes (live) Online: espn3.com (live) espn3.com (or watchESPN or whatever you wanna call it) is a good quality stream. Check beforehand if you can get it cos it depends on what ISP you use. If you ain't got ESPNDeportes then most sports bars should have it - plus any Mexican Restaurants that are open will prob put it on for you. I can't see it on delay anywhere at the moment so you are gonna have to find a way to watch it live.
  21. Wouldn't surprise me to see some clubs like Arsenal & Chelsea increase their prices even more. See how far they can push it. They see 90% full at 70 quid a ticket better than 100% full at 'only' 40 quid a ticket. They don't really care who is going to watching the game (diehard fans or tourists) as long as the tickets sell. If the bubble goes POP! then they'll do some patronizing ad campaign about how they have listened to their loyal fans and are dropping prices.
  22. Not bad picks at all. I've got 50 quid on Denver @ 20/1. On a betting slip from a Southampton bookies. I'll get a free trip back to England if they win it. I can't use Betfair over here so can't 'go green' - will just have to let it ride.
  23. Not really no. To be honest I pay little attention to the coaches plus this year has been a bit different for a lot of drives. Manning goes no huddle and seems to call it as he sees it. Who knows what instructions he gets through his headphones - 'just go for it mate' probably! It's been working of late... DEN best win on Saturday. It's the first game of the 4. If they win then I can sit back and enjoy the other 3. Anyone doing the post season NFL fantasy challenge on nfl.com? I'm on 0 points at the mo - but now have all DEN & ATL players on double points this week.
  24. ...and if he goes off then he'd prob have got a slagging like Cutler did last season. Or maybe not? We'll never know. Good comeback by SEA though in what proved to be the game of the weekend. My 4 teams to win this weekend are DEN/HOU/SF/ATL. Yep I reckon HOU can win in NE. DEN to muller who ever wins that game anyway. See you in New Orleans!
