Totally agreed. He's improved so much the last few seasons and he has the passion you need in a CB. Not the greatest by a long stretch, but I no longer worry when I see his name on the team sheet.

I think that's a fair assessment. I quite like him, certainly good enough to be starting for us, and as you say he's passionate, industrious and offers more balance to the side as he's a natural left footer. Don't think we'll lose him to a bigger club anytime soon though which isn't the worst thing in the world.

Yes yes yes. This has been clear for a while now, even last season when FF came in around the time we beat Liverpool at home. We are so much calmer with him in goal, so much more organised. He isn't the best keeper in the world, far from it, but he's miles ahead of McCarthy and is a bit of a beast to have between the sticks. If we give McCarthy a contract and not FF that'll be a terrible decision. FF is the superior keeper. What a joy to watch that game. Diallo and Tella had cracking games. Salisu is brilliant. Love Lyanco. Broja is too good for us and even Redmond had a good game. What's going on?

The Kane offside one was harsh, incredibly tight. But after Adam's disallowed "offside" goal at Old Trafford last season I'd have been very upset if the Kane one was given. Can understand their frustration on that one. Certainly not the foul on FF though jesus.

You're not allowed to jump back first into the keeper's hands when he's holding the ball with both. It's not a difficult concept to grasp. It's fine to hate Forster, but pretending it's not a foul to try and justify that hatred just makes you look really f*cking stupid.

He sliced them. He's a better keeper than McCarthy. He's not a brilliant keeper and we need a better one. All statements are true IMO, especially the second one.

Never expected to get anything from this game after seeing the lineup. My apologies to Ralph for my part in the pre-match criticisms. Thought Valery had a really good game even after being forced to go in at CB. Diallo had some decent moments and Long and Armstrong worked hard without actually causing them too many problems. And despite FF's kicking being pretty shocking I always feel far more confident with him in goal compared to the other two. When he plays we pick up more points. Do not want to see McCarthy come back in again like he did last season after FF put in some great performances.

I hate how keepers are overprotected in the modern game but Doherty turned his back and jumped straight into Forster's hands after he caught the ball. Foul all day long 😂

I know, because the pre-match meltdowns are so often met with thumping Saints victories aren't they. When will us fans ever learn eh?
