agree with the above. Poor options. Look at Hooiveld for Terry's goal, awful. We need two decent centre backs for next season to see us push out of the relegation contenders category

Barry Glendenning of the Guardian has us winning

Adkins to look at Saints for transfer targets?
Black Sea Saint replied to SO16_Saint's topic in The Saints
Maybe Lallana, Lambert, Schneiderlin and Cork will all go there after our relegation and Reading's triumphant escape from relegation -
two Premier quality centre backs and a decent winger
-
Pogba playing well tonight unfortunately. So, that's Cabaye first choice, Pogba 2nd choice....
-
Oh yeah? How many of the French national squad play in Lique 1? I would guess not many, and those that do will be from PSG and Lyon. I think unfortunately for Morgan, Cabaye is always going to get selected ahead of him. Plus, with the emergence of Paul Pogba, it limits Morgan's chances even more. Shame as he really is a class player.

Saints 3 Liverpool 1 - Post Match Reactions
Black Sea Saint replied to St Chalet's topic in The Saints
hahaha, too much of the sauce mate. Cork's the only one that has the consistency to get anywhere near the England squad. -
bit harsh/ Thought the programme was well put together. There's no pleasing some, most on here moan about the lack of, or negative, exposure Saints get, but equally moan when someone gets off their arse and goes and makes their own show. Fair play to the original producers.

I don't think we'll get anywhere near 37 points, although I'm hoped to be proved wrong. I predicted 33 just after Adkins was sacked, and nothing has changed that yet - I had us beating QPR but losing to Man City. so there you go.

or "what a load of rubbish, what a load of rubbish" repeat until bored

we were poor yesterday for sure, but the worst performance in years?? No, I don't think so. Did anyone see Wigan away? Sunderland away? Arsenal away? Wigan at home? Everton away? the Chelsea FA Cup game? All worse performances. My worry is that we don't have the players to fit Potechinno's style of play - no pace, not good enough at passing, not intelligent enough with the ball (except maybe Lallana and Schneiderlin). I can't see us picking up too many more points to be honest, meaning relegation and a whole host of players (and staff) leaving this summer. At least Sharp and Hammond will be back
-
I fear you're right. I love Potechino's style of play, but just don't think we have the players to pull it off. It's going to be a tough run in.

Left back is becoming our Achilles heel. Don't get me wrong, Shaw is an excellent player and will continue to get better and better, but think back to the Wigan game, his inexperience led to him playing Maloney onside for their equaliser. Man City's break away goal was came down our left. Shaw did really well with Debuchy on Sunday, but was getting little support from Rodriguez, and the experienced Guiterrez was tricking him into little fouls all afternoon, a red card was imminent. Would love to see a decent experienced left back bought in to act as back up and mentor to Shaw.

too many away games. I'm predicting we finish on 34 points. Can't be bothered to predict the other teams's scores. I hadn't really paid enough attention to the number of away fixtures before doing this. I've from being very optimistic to very pessimistic.

Expected to play in the Copa Del Rey for Sevilla against At Madrid in 90 minutes, so I doubt it

Transfer Deadline Day Who's in Who's out?
Black Sea Saint replied to Horton Heath Saint's topic in The Saints
I can't imagine Fox would've started if he was leaving. Who's the backup at left back? Unless we're bringing in a new left-back, which seems unlikely given Shaw's rise. I'd personally like to see some competition for places in midfield and perhaps upfront. -
this version of FM is stupidly difficult. I'm on my 10th game game of the season and I only have 1 point! Whilst Stoke, Norwich and Fulham (with Utd, City and Spurs) make up the top 6.

Another Jan Poortvliet, promises of total football, getting the kids through ala Barcelona, but in reality someone who had no idea what he was doing. We'll see.

Two BIG exclusive interviews tomorrow

2.5 year plan? Who's next on the list Mr Cortese, Pep Guardiola after his stint at Bayern? It is all falling into place. -
Odd balls we are playing once we get to the final third. Mayuka has had no chance with those played down the flanks.
-
I hope so
-
so, this is why we never see Mayuka play

I'm not sure it's anti-Saints, it just appears that Villa have a better PR person, as highlighted on this week's Guardian Football Weekly podcast when one of the panel was talking about smoozing with the Villa press officer at the weekend. That stuff pays dividends when it comes to the press reporting positivity about a team.

It's a goalkeeper for me. I want Gazza to do well, and I think he will given time, but we really need a decent dependable keeper that can marshall the defence well. However, those type of players aren't ten aplenty, so I think we'll be hard pushed to get better than we have. Agree about the defence too. Yoshida is getting better but I would still like to see a big commanding centre back in there.

indeed, he has been excellent this season. The Prem is obviously suited to him. Really glad he stayed.
