    Jimmy Hill!

Rip. Hated him as a kid in the 70', but respected him a lot more in the 90's
  3. Stoke playing really well and their second was class. Looking forward to the Man City goal. Is it before or after Stoke nearly get the third?
  4. Utd kicking watford all over the park as far as I can see
  5. Not sure which thread to put this on, but a large portion of the crowd in Watford vs ManU are wearing black, Is that because of Paris? If so, shall I expect the same at St Mary's? Or is it a fashion thing, genuinely don't know.
  6. Wish they'd do the same here in Brisbane. Sheffield frickin Utd do and their shirts are all over the place at my kids' club. (obligatory purchase to participate in the training).
  7. Football League Cup Winners (1): 2012–13 Football League Trophy Winners (2): 1993–94, 2005–06 We'd be (I'd be) extremely chuffed to have those honours.
  8. good tackle from Juanmi there - I may be a bit behind!
  9. Anyway, I'm over from oz and intend to go to this match. I'm thinking that I should be able to walk up for a ticket. Anyway know any different? (I walked 5 miles to find a friggin pub with sky sports to watch a pretty crap 2nd half display despite a decently worked goal to give us a chance at the end. Didn't realise there's so few pubs showing sky these days...)
  10. Found myself singing 'Like a Virgil' - fallen in love with this bloke in a dross game
  11. Interesting. I think Xerox and Epson have/had some relationship, Epson may have even been a Xerox brand? Although I think Xerox had stopped sponsoring us by 1985.
  12. Haven't checked your blog before, but I find it very well written! It is an antidote to Neil Allen style writing and includes some great use of conjunctions! Even so, possibly might be worth breaking a couple of paras. And, I don't like the font, but that's just personal taste. I'll keep an eye out for your match reports from now on.
  13. If he can avoid getting sent off against 11, Romeu is best buy so far.
  14. Yep, it's all over. I am no longer going to be a Saints fan. No point. Reminds me of the time I stopped supporting Saints every time something went wrong, but that was so rare I almost always remained a saints fan. Apart from when we lost or things weren't going well, which has almost never happened before, ever.
  15. Wow! You can see why legislation would be almost impossible when apparently reasonable people try to slip eugenics into a completely different topic. I understand you are making caveats, but I can imagine that people would try to make an argument that Down's syndrome is a living hell, or they have a girl, or their child has brown eyes. Anyway, I'm for assisted suicide assuming there is appropriate protection and legislation which others have pointed out. I think people's opinions have changed about this over the last 20 years or so - faced with so much misery and death in a vast media, the sanctity of life has less weight. The logical end to that is the eugenics stuff, but I hope society can understand and navigate the difference.
  16. Thought this thread was an ode to the dearly departed Saints! I see a massive lack of confidence on the pitch in all the players. Seems epitomised my Fonte's slightly wobbly display on Saturday which may have transmitted itself to the rest of the team. I don't put it down exclusively to the absence of Schneiderlin - as many people have said, we have won many games without him. Maybe it is fear of his absence rather than his actual absence. Clearly, the team is rebuilding. Having watched the first two league games, I have lowered my expectations and I'm looking forward to the season to see how this goes. I've put myself in the old '27 year' mindset when I had literally no idea whether we would win, lose, play badly, not care or play like maestros.
  17. What kind of money would he get at eastleigh?. I'm guessing ' normal' wages , about 40k. Per annum, of course. Portsmouth's still fairly local, so perhaps they didn't offer much more.
  18. Anyone seen any video of these matches? I'd love to show him how the top level boys his age play. I still see a lot of ball watching, slowness of thought, lack of awareness of team mates, inability to use wrong foot, lack of fitness, lack of sense of urgency or canniness when protecting a lead. Wonder how the top level kids compare. (I was chuffed with him this weekend as he showed quickness of thought and hunger to head a goal from a corner against much bigger defenders!).
  19. Just watching Brisbane Roar vs Liverpool. Clyne looks a bit uncomfortable and Lallana wandering around. Defence looks shocking. Roar go 1-0 up! Go Roar!
  20. Has this been ignored because the writer is full of shiite, or because we want to ignore less than positive news. Wouldn't have thought that Feyenoord regime was bad and that someone at Saints would be able to detect and comment on it.
  21. Rare case of when 'of' should have bee used instead of ''ve'! I'd take Illarramendi, whoever he is. Don't want Suarez and Soares, too confusing.
  22. With you on this! Coz I read this stupid site, I know far more about the ins and outs of transfers than most of my Saints supporting family and friends in the UK. It's not because they don't care about Saints, it's just that most of them just wait to see what's actually happened, rather than fret about a million things that may happen. All this shizz doesn't bother them a bit, as they're blissfully unaware - I suspect this applies to most 'normal' saints. I also suspect this type of fan is under represented on this board!
  23. Thanks for all that. Comments seem remarkably less negative than last pre-season!
  24. i remember talking about this with my lad a few months back. My son was getting frustrated by Clyne always holding back and not running the overlap. It was just after he played for England , so I put it down to Hodgson telling him to not attack.
  25. and you can see why
