  1. Having watched the highlights I hope they appeal the red card. A bit reckless but should have been yellow I think. Clearly went for the ball and kept his leg close to the ground, just possibly catching the back of Jorginho’s foot. Much less contact than Walker on Armstrong and that wasn’t even given as a foul, by the same referee I think.
  2. Reminds of the Burnley route 1 goal last season - Vydra? Opposing managers must know it’s a Saints weakness. Although it shouldn’t be at this level.
  3. Did we miss Jack Stephens or would it have been worse if he’d played?
  4. He seemed to be friendly with Danny Ings, so I suspect there might be something in this. At the very least, I bet he was disappointed when Danny left.
  5. Sadly Keith Hackett wasn’t in charge of the game. We like to think that the most important thing is the fair and correct decision. But football isn’t like that. It’s only entertainment, for a start. Even controversial decisions are entertaining, especially if your team does well out of it.
  6. Stonewall penalty from the highlights. Walker nowhere near the ball. Pure body check on top of Armstrong. If that had been Salisu on Sterling we all know how it would have gone. But money talks. They bought that draw.
  7. Antonio useless. Couldn’t get past our Championship defence. Hotheaded idiot. My FF captain.
  8. Shame about the clearance pass off the post straight to their forward for the Newcastle second goal. Was that Livramento? Should have either been blasted out or passed to a Saints player. On such moments the match turns. Well done to Saints for keeping on fighting to the end when tired heads could have dropped.
  9. Sums up the attitude today. Who are you?
  10. Their deeper midfielders score most of their goals so hopefully someone will mark them closely.
  11. JWP/Romeu/Perraud/KWP plus maybe one of the Armstrongs and Che. 9 men behind the ball plus the bus. Redmond isn’t much of a defender. What do I know as I said.
  12. I don’t usually do this. What do I know. I would go for experience against United. Being part Cornish I have a soft spot for Stephens. Oh dear. Forster KWP Stephens Bednarek Perraud JWP Romeu Armstrong Redmond Armstrong Adams Bednarek to mark Fernandes and Stephens Pogba. Anything better than 9-0 is progress.
  13. I hope Saints are practising playing with 10 men. Quite possible against United.
  14. Wow I wonder if she writes that for every travelling fan base. I would hate to think it was exclusive to Saints. Some copy and paste job!
  15. In his post match interview Walcott said he feels fully fit and looked mentally in a good place. Maybe he should start against his old club Everton next week. See what he can do.
  16. Walcot goal. Livramento assist.
  17. Thanks to Jack and Jay for that. One win off 14th now, with a game in hand. Come on you Saints!
  18. I don’t understand why this decision wasn’t made during the game. Didn’t the ref, John Moss and assistants have the technology available to scrutinise it properly? Are they trying to save money by limiting VAR replays until after the match?
  19. Kijya difuna. Or something like that.
  20. Play 3 at the back? Seems to work for some teams but apparently not Saints. We need to block off those direct balls down the middle somehow.
  21. Signed. We shouldn’t have to die for football. It’s entertainment.
  22. Nick Pope my man of the match. Kept them in it and maintained the excitement to the end.
  23. Not sure that McGoldrick was actually offside for the one Forster saved. I think Vestergaard was playing him on. Maybe VAR would have given the goal if it had gone in. Good save. Several good performances, adding up to a very good team performance, despite the Ings injury. Roll on City!
  24. Imagine if you did that if someone touched you in the pub.
  25. You can thank me for captaining Salah in my FF team. Masterstroke.
