I've never been in the don't-care-about-europa set but I understand people who are more excited about it now we're in it (and apparently taking it seriously) than they were when we were in 3rd and might get CL. The club is in the football business, and the goal is to win competitions. Europa league is probably the most prestigious competition that Southampton currently has a chance of winning. Not saying we're going to, but we're in it so it's possible.

I think £8m is a bit high. We'd be taking a punt - he is low on confidence and he would have to put in some pretty decent performances to get the fans back on his side. I'd say £4-5m was fair.

Good, wouldn't want him back on the condition that he has guaranteed game time. If we need cover then we should have cover that isn't going to strop when they don't play.
