  1. Hey Turkey, not all of us Russell’s are perverted or shit at management. I can hold a conversation and make a cup of tea…
  2. And he is the only one of the starting 11 who shows intelligent movement off the ball. There are certainly other players who are more ‘technical’ but they are utterly predictable. His running today was excellent, and if anything we didn’t spot him enough…
  3. Matt very kindly stopped for photos with a lot of fans today, including my young lads who were very pleased to meet him! He may well espouse some strange political comments but he is always a very obliging local celebrity when many others aren’t…
  4. The problem is that we all knew we were getting stuffed before ko; there was no belief that the manager would “out think” the opposition. Instead, Ralf played this 5-3-2 system, which we all knew was coming, which concentrates on our (defence) weak area! This is compounded by not playing our strongest striker. It also is not the formation that gave us so much success last year v spurs (4-2-2-2)… Which, being so intensive in energy, we know can’t last a season, BUT being the first game back was surely the best time to go for it?? U have been a Ralf fan but I have no confidence in his ability to turn this squad into a half decent side. I can accept that the team is full of lower quality players, but can’t accept that there is not a method to get us performing- I feel that there are numerous other managers who would get more from this squad of players: Potter, Lage, Cooper would all have plans that would make us less predictable to defeat
  5. Sorry but Forster is so much better the McCarthy. In each of the last 2 matches he has pulled off a 1 on 1 save that most keepers would not; certainly that McCarthy would not have. Forster is not perfect by any stretch but when on form (which he certainly has seemed to be again this season) he is a class above McCarthy , as evidenced by the regular England call ups over the years if nothing else.
  6. The telegraph reported. = Fact? Quoting facts that aren't actually facts doesn't create fact...
  7. Wel, I am a 'slightly older than you' saints fan who had the pleasure to grow up watching MLT in his prime... But this also means that the first manager change I can remember is when Branfoot took over! At the time, I was desperate for Jimmy Case to take over...
  8. http://www.myepisodecalendar.com/images/people/302792.jpg Think he's had a bad education...
  9. Nice fist bumping Sammy Lee!
  10. "Alan Pardew has his work cut out at half time..." #101greatmerringtongaffs
  11. Sorry you've got that one wrong... The player you are thinking of is Neil McCan't
  12. This break has been great fun, tres Americana. Interviewing the ref was fun, interviiewingthe soccer organiser fella better, but watching 'huddle and woy' chat tactics was really actually very good.
  13. Hmm, have we all missed the fact that KL is a super villain and has planned all along to sell all of the squad, raise herself a few hundred million, close the club and retire to an island in the Bahamas to count her cash?! It's certainly feeling like that...
  14. Anyone know why Koeman such short odds with the bookies? yakin makes sense - his recent 'resignation', statement etc but why RK?
  15. Your masochistic? That explains a lot!!! But you're quite right Ashmore, we've just got to start dreaming of the next big thing...
  16. It's not that Poch has gone; It's the hope that's gone. With poch in charge we might, just might have kept some of our top players. Really can't see that now unless we really go for it with a top class man. So I reckon we either try and steal De Boer (premier league is a big pull and it's not likely he'll get a top job just yet...) or, and this is my preference, we convince Gary Neville to start his pre-Man U management days with us. If GN took the job he has the ear of our England boys and a huge personality that could really pull us together. I realise he has no management experience but he clearly knows his stuff...
  17. World Cup players having a light workout. Everyone else on their holidays...
  18. Have you been reading 'The Nowhere Men' by any chance?
  19. J rod unlucky, played too deep to be effective... Would have liked to see the midfield pushed up higher so that he pressed on the full back (ala saints style) - may have got him 1 on 1 a little and enabled him to run at them a bit... Still at least he didn't get injured!
  20. I think i follow your idea here Saint Charlie, actually now I see clearly where you've become confused but i have an easier solution for your problem - when i get fed up with Football Manager i just turn it off and start a new game, have you thought about doing that?
  21. One I remember well but many won't is a last minute Neil Heaney (i think, tho he might have set it up...) goal home to Newcastle in the 90's somewhen... We had come from behind to score a couple of late goals against KK's boys, it was an evening KO and the archers was rocking! When he scored he literally jumped in the crowd!!!
