  1. thought the people here would appreciate this joke, The run up to Christmas has seen players and staff from Portsmouth FC visiting a local children's hospital. "It's nice to put a smile on the faces of those who are worse off than we are and who are facing a long uphill struggle," said David Wilson aged 6.
  2. I think very few actually have the email but the OS story suggests that everyone that applied has got one (unless the police don't want you to)
  3. Get the **** in, that means i've got one for the ****hole. Ghosts of the last time we were there to be laid to bed i hope. Oh and i don't care if people don't have the bottle, if they don't they shouldn't be there in the first place. Now just got to work out how to smuggle drink on
  4. i really do love the fact that it's saints fans actively trying to scupper this cesspool of a club. And that post linking it all together is worthy of the closing scenes of Poirot! Now could we please make sure the Guardian reporter, FSA and Tax Office receive that so we can add more nails to their coffin.
  5. funny i guess you must've missed the sarcasm in my original post which was highlighting exactly the generalisation you talk about. If you'd seen the first post (i assume you did as you must've read the post) then you'd have seen Dubai Phil generalising an entire stand of people. Oh and this uber fan thing is the most ridiculous ******** in the world, all the people that come out with seem like they have some sort of massive chip on their shoulder. If you think like that then i'm genuinely sad for you, a saints fan is a saints fan regardless of where they sit/stand (though i wish the chapel would make more noise!)
  6. i feel really bad for the non season ticket holders if they do miss out. Plenty make a large number of aways and to me they should be priority above the season ticket holders with no aways. Personally i'm not worried i've done 6 so will be fine, but the idea that a SH with non should get one above a non SH with 6 is a joke if you ask me
  7. Probably the part timers in the chapel i'd guess, since all around me in the northam people definitely "get it" as we've seen it from the start
  8. jimmy case being sent of at old trafford for happening to be next to bryan robson when he tripped over his own feet was pretty shocking too
  9. I was just thinking the best thing that could happen this season would be to beat them 4-1 at the ****hole, then later in the season confirm our title against them at st mary's by winning 4-1, at the same time cementing their relegation so they could watch us parade the title infront of them. Then just to make matters even better have relegation confirm their ultimate demise as they go under, knowing the last thing they saw was their team losing 4-1 to us and us winning the league [/dream]
  10. It's fine, as long as we shake their hands afterwards no one will care. Or at least that's what Blatter told me.
  11. I'd be amazed if they check whether you're actually the person on the ticket or not, all the other skate away trips i've done have actually been pretty lax once it starts since the police want to minimize trouble. The last thing they're going to want is a lot of ****ed of people who are already fired up for the day. Much easier for them to get you onto a coach/bus and to the game in my opinion
  12. One of my favourite bands ever, would be immense to hear that song slowly. Could imagine it being a real away anthem since you get an older crowd at those games. Actually tune wise i'm sure I Am The Resurrection could be adapted, just need to think of lyrics
  13. Depends i'd pay good money to see Harry Redknapp knocked out
  14. Don't forget that the Man U game meant nothing and Charlton was a ****ing huge game for us at the time.
  15. Um fair play to you for (weirdly) choosing saints, but that really is the only point isn't it? Going to watch your team play is the whole point of supporting a side. Otherwise you might as well just cheer on a spreadsheet. Not getting involved in the rest of this but that does seem a little off kilter way to think about it. As an aside the hell anyone from Scandinavia would support saints is well beyond me! So how did it happen mush?
  16. Le Tissier's testimonial, one of the most emotional things i've ever experienced at football and one that will live long in my memory
  17. add to that list of **** things, quiet but expensive away grounds; far less 3pm k/o (a ****ter for us that travel from outside southampton); more hype than you need; everyone and their dog having an opinion on your side despite only watching match of the day; no more of the real football experiences that you get outside the prem. Still we would get to see some of the best players in the world, have Southampton the city known round the world again and be able to attract/keep good players. So for football players/team much better, for the fans [arguably] much worse.
  18. Is anyone else thinking of chancing it and trying to claim the cost of the match ticket back of the trains even though they made it?

    Going up?

I'm in that camp that dreads the premiership (as much as i want to see us win the league). The reason is as much about the way fans are treated and the soulless sanitised nature of it as anything. I live in London, not far from Highbury, and when Arsenal play at home i see as many tourists on the trains - if not more - than normal Gooners. No wonder their ground is so ****ing quiet, it's football tourism for the rich. And it's not just Arsenal either, watch the prem on the tv and listen to how quiet it is. Or google ticket prices and see how expensive it is. Or look at the league and see how uncompetitive it is. I have LOVED the lower leagues, the banter at games is much better, our away attendances are brilliant, we're louder and most away fans are more knowledgeable or actually give a **** about their team. Not to mention there's a lot of well supported proper football clubs in this league who travel in numbers and make a game of it. It does my head in having to listen to the football statto's/geeks who only every "support" their teams from the tv. **** em in the lower leagues they don't know about us and we don't care about them. It reminds me of how football used to be and i for one like that. So yeah i'm in the poisoned chalice group and i'm totally serious too.
  20. i went because it was a close game as i live in london and another away for the pompey game. Plus it's interesting to see what the young players are like. For what it's worth i thought Ward-Prowse didn't look out of place at all, a good sign, and Forte was absolute dross and should be got rid of at the first opportunity (also was it just me or has he put on three stone in weight?). Also thought Morgan was decent to begin with but obviously stopped putting it in as the game went on. Butterfield was ok defensively but his crossing was shocking, i can't remember him beating the first man once. Was good to see Barney back too and a great reception for him.
  21. i don't know if i was too drunk or the video evidence on youtube is falsified but i'm sure we were singing "we are southampton, we're top of the league" after the goal, not what they quoted.
  22. The Alex always has the saints games on and in nice weather has a tv out the back as well as two or three inside. Still the best pub in the city for me and a cracking saints pub
  23. One of the three mate
  24. I saw darren outside the ground with my brother after the game and all three of us were stunned and definitely believing. One game at a time and all that but so far i've seen nothing in any game i've seen (and i've only missed three i think) that makes me think we can't. We've played and matched the "top" sides, at home and away, and we've outplayed most with their fans saying on the way out of the grounds we've been the best side they've seen. Saying that the natural saints cynicism says no
  25. This is one of the most often repeated and most stupid things said about people who get involved, look at the arrests from the last home game and you'll see no known people were picked up. They were mostly people who'd been to see the game (yup to see the game and who liked football) who really ****ing hate the blue scum. For anyone growing up in the city you're brought up to hate the ****s, when you play them at school sports it has edge if you run into them out and about there's an edge. I've had the misfortune to play teams from there in the sunday league and they were out to injure us. Same is true of others i know who've played skate teams. As much as people would like it to be a liverpool/everton it's simply not, it's two cities where an amazing amount of people really ****ing despise each other. That's why it's so sweet when we beat them
