He is the proverbial turd of my life which will not flush

Agree and this has been our issue for a long time and contributed to our last relegation. We had a brief spell of signing players for around market value of 10-15m around the Mane/Tadic era. Then the market jumped to around 25-30m for those kinda players, and we stayed paying what we were. And now that market rate is around 40m as you say. Also I know we need to produce some level of talented young players to sell at a profit so we are more sustainable, but it can't be the sole focus. There are only a limited amount of talented young players that will go on and be world class, and with Chelsea and Spurs hoovering up talent, along with bigger clubs Dortmund, plus a bunch of other Prem clubs, means we are more likely to buy duds like Archer. Need a few more 26-27 year olds that aren't learning on the job, but also aren't yet a journeyman

This could be 9. It's due.

Jesus, I had blocked him out. Stick him front of the list I agree.

I find this post utterly bizarre. I too want Martin gone. But in all of your time supporting, there have been far far worse managers. Fuck, we've had worse managers in the last couple of years with Jones and Selles. Then you add in Burley (who like Martin had an over resourced team but actually failed to get us up), Wigley, Wotte/Poortvielt combo, Branfoot etc. If that was the first time ever you have wanted to see the opposition score to get a manager out, it says more about you mate.
-
I said I like him, but for purely non football reasons. As a person his values align similarly to mine. I think he is a decent human being. But in football terms I agree with everything you said. I didn't want him cos he hadn't achieved anything as a manager yet and was getting parachuted into one of the best well resourced team in the Championship ever. He then managed to come 4th in what should have been a 3 horse race. Hit style of football bores me, and is not as original as he thinks.
-
I voted time to leave. I actually like Martin as a person. But I have never warmed to this style of football. For over a decade we played a real high octane football with a clear identity. Adkins, Poch, Ralph, and to a lessor extent Koeman, really got in the faces of the opposition. Sure it didn't always work, there were some thrashings along the way, and sometimes we looked clueless and dismal. But any Saints team is gonna get walloped now and again in the prem. I don't care if we go down, I didn't last time either. Someone has to. I did care about the lack of fight though. I don't want us to be Man City -lite. I switch off often when they are playing, and they are the best if the world at that style of football. If we are gonna copy some of the bigger clubs, I would much prefer copying Liverpool, Spurs, Leverkusen, Atalanta from a few years ago. Something that is more exciting than this. Watching Bournemouth, I feel a bit jealous of the way they play

When we last came up we had a bad start. But at least we knew we had an awful fixture list with the exception of Wigan. This season hasn't even been an outrageously hard start
-
Just stuck 10 on Martin to be sacked next. If it doesn't happen I will be far angrier at that than the lost money
-
I miss the days when we would concede 9
-
I've just got this feeling, deep down in my scrotum, that we are going to see another 9 today. A real 'we are back baby' statement loss
-
Wow! We actually went for the kill! Cardiff are absolutely here for the taking. Let's wrap this up by halftime.
-
Beautiful goal. This is possibly the most ive enjoyed watching us this season. Also playing alot more direct

Killing the possession stats...liquid football.

This is reminding me a bit of the Burley season. That was one of the most expensive sides in the division. Instead we played Wright all season and in the main dour football. Scraped the playoff and then lost them. Right now that's where our season now is headed Edit: KWP!!!
-
It would be better for football if they went up. The only reason we may go up instead of them is because our squad cost more money. That's kinda crap. I want our expensive side to dominate teams. Suffocate them up the pitch. Try and win in every part of the pitch. Be brave

My stream buffering. I'm gonna use this as an excuse to tap out
-
There's already been a few moments where our midfield won the ball and could have played it early. Instead we just turn backwards. We shouldn't be afraid of losing the ball to Bristol! It's just cowardly football when you have the better players. There was a moment where KWP sprinted up the wing and Charles jogged 20 yards with the ball. By the time he passed it to KWP we had no choice to go back. I dont even see the point of playing Sulemana if we aren't gonna try and get the ball to him early either
-
I know we are in a good run of form. I know we are in the top 6 after a rubbish start. I know we are only at the beginning of this project. I know all of this, so it seems stupid to say. But I just don't like the way we play. I'm just bored most games hoping for something to happen

I might be controversial here, but I don't really understand why we would hate a player just because they played for Portsmouth. There are a very small select of players that have been embedded of the fabric of that club, and sure, makes sense to give them some stick. And for someone like Arry, yeah absolutely. But most players just do not give a shit. And why would they either? A player isn't going to be approached by Portsmouth and think 'oh shit I better be careful, this might scupper my future dream of playing for the mighty saints'. They sign for either us or them because they think it is the best step in their career. This applies especially for foreign players with no connection to the UK, let alone the South Coast, why the fuck would you hate them just cos they played for a club playing in a city they probably couldn't have placed on a map? If we can sign a good player from them, we absolutely should and give them full support. Take someone like Viafara. The fact he played previously for Portsmouth never stopped him from giving it everything for us as well. The rivalry is amongst fans, but not the players

Been a while since last "where are they now (posters)" thread?

Alpine's relentless and predictable misery ended up bringing a fair amount of joy. -
Fergie's last season should be remembered as one of the great managerial achievements. The rot had already set in. Their squad was garbage compared to the standards they had set previously. Yet they still won the title pretty much from the fear factor and intimidation that Fergie had built up over decades. That was better than anything Pep has done for example.
-
Yep I actually agree with you. The US shouldn't be hosting another one either. Though in general I don't expect a country to be squeaky clean, but I do expect them to be better than imprisoning and flogging gay people. That's not a high bar.

Incredible that a country which literally murdered a journalist for daring to critique its leader can be gifted a World cup just a few years later. Fifa don't even pretend to hide their corruption anymore. Fuck, it almost makes me want Blatter back. At least he pretended it wasn't corrupt. Like Fifa now spreading the 2030 WC amongst 3 continents to ensure that 'only' Asia or Oceania could host the 2034 edition. And then only giving a month to get bids in when the tournament is fucking 11 years away. Sportswashing doesn't even begin to describe this. We've also seen just progress in the last few years in the womens games, and LGBT rights with some footballers now feel comfortable to be themselves. Yet we think we should allow a country that pretty much denies the rights to both groups have the WC? I look forward to the Henderson of 2034 give some sort of 'face saving' speech whilst he boards the flight there. I'm relieved Australia didn't participate and waste money in this. It pisses me off as now the earliest we can ever host a World Cup is 2046. At least we have made the knock out stages and produced excellent footballers and managers. We would host a banging world cup. Just not a big money spinning one.

lol how is that not a penalty. Offside goal and a clear pen.
