  1. What's going on with Clyne exactly?
  2. Thanks. At least they recognise that Lambert was isolated upfront with little support. It's a shame that some fans on the internet are using Lambert as a scapegoat.
  3. Can someone tell me what the telegraph said? I can't access the page.
  4. I posted this up before the Moldova game, it's a poster I came across on a forum whilst seeking neutral opinions on Lambert's call up. Have a read of his posts, apparently a Stoke fan. I'm not sure whether I should be frustrated, or humoured by his comments. Luckily, most fans are having had a go at him, including another Saints fan. http://forum.ea.com/uk/posts/listByUser/1263213.page Some examples. "Keepers been pretty solid since he conceded that 4th goal. We also look more threatening in attack now that Lambert is off." "Welbeck and Lambert off at half time imo." But best of all (Scotland game). "His movement was shocking. Thank the England midfield for feeding him delicious through balls for him to squander. He was being marked out of the game by Championship standard defenders and was barely moving to get himself into a decent position. I won't argue against his club form because this debate is about Lamberts poor game against Scotland and whether he deserved this call up. His club form is therefore irrelevant in this argument." And in relation to the Ukraine game. "Anyone heard reports of Lambert starting? I hope not tbh. He was poor against Scotland and was ok against Moldova were unusually lacklustre in defense, but he's gonna be found out against Ukraine with their solid defense. If Lambert has to play, then I think an impact substitution in, say the 70th minuite is the way to go. If there is one thing Lambert is, is determined. He is always determined to beat his man and he has very high levels if concentration. He will be more effective when there defense tire because face it, if he starts against Ukraine, he's gonna be shown up like a bin man against the Harlem Globetrotters and that won't do any good for his confidence."
  5. I was just searching 'Rickie Lambert vs Moldova forum' to see what neutral fans thought of SRL starting and came across this idiot. Have a read of this ahaha "Just read that Rickie Lambert is set to start against Moldova . He was struggling against Scotland all game and his lack of ability was overlooked because of a decent header. If he's struggling against the Scottish defense, god knows what he'll be like against the Moldovans who are a more compact and organised unit, Rickie Lambert is a decent player, but in no way is he England material. Not in the slightest. Where's Pennant's callup? Scoring the winner does not make you a good player or make his performance any good. He was playing like a complete donkey most of the time, misplacing passes, getting into the wrong positions. I can imagine the England players being very frustrated with him." I only saw the highlights of the game, but surely his performance wasn't that bad after his goal. If someone doesn't deserve a call-up after scoring a cracking header to win the game, then who does...Hope he silences all the doubters tonight !
  6. And if we didn't sign anyone we'd be ******* moaning about that. We're only 3 games into the season, it's early days yet. Only this place would write off players after one bad game, one bad game!
  7. **** the offside rule, think the linesman just likes waving his flag.
  8. The sad thing is, this is probably the most attention he has ever gotten off us. Says enough about him really.
  9. Not listening to the match, how are Mayuka and Isgrove getting on?
  10. **** this referee, **** this game, **** Sunderland. Now I'm never going to hear the end of this from my mate.
  11. Why Lallana? He's been playing brilliant.
  12. Such a frustrating game this.
  13. Unless it's back up for Shaw I don't see where we could improve without having to spend big money. And with the money we've spent already, I can't see us spending more than 3-4 million. But, if the don wants another quality player in, I won't complain Can you at least give us a position?!?
  14. Both Wanyama and Lovren looking like quality additions to the squad.
  15. Okay, so I just did a quick search and found out that PES outsold Fifa 5 to 1 last year on the PS3. http://www.vgchartz.com/game/70738/fifa-soccer-13/ http://www.vgchartz.com/game/70988/pro-evolution-soccer-2013/ FIFA 13: + Japan: 0.10m 1.5% PES 13: + Japan: 0.47m 38.4%
  16. Does Fifa outsell PES in Japan? I know it's only a videogame, but this is decent exposure for us.
  17. I think people are missing the point here. The original poster is not necessarily proposing that we hit the overall collective, if that was the case, he would have said so explicitly. He divided the team categorically. And it's certainly feasible when looking at each section of the team individually. It's like I mentioned previously, if you take the individual players goal targets for the coming season, the overall amount would probably exceed 75. What do we say? Hang on a minute Gaston, the overall collective exceeded the probable amount; you're going to have to lower your target from 8 to 3. No, you come to the realisation that there are too many variables in football. And ultimately some players won’t achieve these goals due to poor form or injuries. That's probability. When you look at the broader spectrum it becomes less likely that every target will be achieved. Surely people are not asserting that it's unreasonable if Lambert aimed for 15, Rodrigues 10, and Mayuka 5? In short, take the positional goals into account and ask yourself whether they can be accomplished. Just completely disregard the total. Are they reasonable ambitions? I would say yes.
  18. That's not the point though. His point being that, in isolation, these targets are attainable. Although the probability of all being achieved is less likely. If you asked each player their individual goal targets for the coming season, the total number would more than likely exceed 75. For example: Lambert may be aiming for 15-20 goals, Jrod 8-12, Mayuka 6-8, and the same applies to the rest. And as individual targets this may certainly be feasible, and the same can be said when refining targets to positions. But as we know there are many variables in football, including form and injuries.
  19. On Fifa, I always play as Saints. It's not a problem online (seasons) seeing as your matched with an opponent of equal rating. Although I love playing custom matches and whipping people playing as the big teams.
  20. Mouth-watering league game between Eastleigh and Pompey next season. You heard it here first.
  21. Born in Southampton, and my whole family is from Southampton, but my parents and I left when I was seven. That was sixteen years ago now.
  22. I hope you're joking. 1. Schalke are a top 4 team in Germany and play Champions League football. 2. This was a pre-season game. 3. Our second half squad featured a lot of players that won't make the first team. The first goal was a miscommunication between Fonte and Davis, neither are starters. The second goal Gazza conceded at his near post, who is arguably third in line. I'm not saying we will make the top 8, but this game has no relevance on our final position this season. I should probably reiterate that this was a pre-season game.
  23. Let's not forget Schalke are a top 4 German side.
  24. I get the impression that he would like to play for a club in contention for European football. As it stands, Fulham are a long way off that, regardless of their recent history. We've shown ambition in the transfer market, we've proved we can compete with the likes of Fulham, we have an ambitious chairman, and a manager who Osvaldo once played for (also Argentinian). Yet we're talking about a player who refused to even talk to us. With that said, if he went straight to Fulham it would be disappointing.
