  1. Surprised to see Adams and Romeu both not included, late injuries perhaps? We look pretty weak and bench is devoid of any senior players, wouldn't be be surprised to see us well beaten today.
  2. Agreed, SkySports did a special video highlighting how bad a challenge it was (Romeu's on Greenwood) and how deserving of a red card it is, similar challenge today from Digne. https://www.skysports.com/watch/video/sports/football/12028219/campbell-romeu-challenge-a-bad-one Not sure why intent even comes into it, unless you're looking to break up the play or waste time or are a complete arsehole then surely most fouls are unintentional. Fouls are mistimed/misplaced tackles, which this was, it was from behind and and he's gone in hard above the ankle. Think the commentator said something along the lines of 'it looks worse than it was'. It didn't. It looked as bad as it was. It was fortuitous that KWP wasn't injured. Ancelotti's said he'll appeal. Good luck.
  3. Wearing a face mask long before covid.
  4. It's on the kit the players wear but isn't visible in those pictures. (Assume it's on the replica kits). https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/live/football/53936414
  5. We can still sign players from football league clubs after today until 16th October. Would have thought with the current state of things (no fans in stadiums this season and the football league asking the Prem for financial assistance) there could be one or two half decent promising young players who's clubs would be liable to accept a reasonable offer for?
  6. It's a tough act to follow. To be fair, Fonte and VVD was an exceptional CB pairing, probably the best Saints have had, (a huge improvement on Killer and Lundekvam who are the other decent CB partnership at Saints that I can remember). VVD is widely regarded as the best CB in the world now, and Fonte was playing regularly for Portugal winning the EUROs. I doubt we'll ever recapture a CB pairing like that and not sure that there's a team in the Prem with a better partnership now, (possibly even in the world???). Obviously that doesn't mean we can't do better than we have over the past 3 few seasons. Alderweireld, Lovren etc were very decent CBs, hoping that Salisu will have a bright future.
  7. Didn't we dominate the first half? Spurs hadn't had a touch in our box until first half stoppage time.
  8. It may be a bizarre modern phenomenon but it's one that sways elections, referendums and radicalises people. I'm not on twitter and don't know what MLT has said or shared on there, but while it's important that there's freedom of speech there is a dangerous president for for liable and for stating opinion as fact. Fake news has fostered some very dangerous opinions, and it only needs to be fairly small percentages of people to even subconsciously doubt actually facts and give unproven conspiracy theories the benefit of the doubt for it to have serious consequences. The more high profile people that spread potentially dangerous beliefs the more people will start to believe in them - yes those people are idiots, but there's plenty of idiots around.
  9. Fingers crossed he's better than Danso, Vestergard, Hoegt and the other unremarkable centre backs that we've signed in recent years that were supposed to be super good.
  10. I don't think Sarr's unrealistic, I'd have thought the big clubs would be more ambitious and try and go for the next level up. i.e. gamble on something from abroad that they think will be better or sign someone with a bit more of a track record in the league. Feel like you have to be fairly outstanding at a relegated club to move to the top 6. Sarr and Aarons would be my two, maybe Solanke.

Would those be the ones who voted to remain in the UK but who lost their freedom to go live and work within the EU?
  12. You must have a train station between you and Southampton? Personally one the things I enjoy about the match day experience is the building up of anticipation as you walk to the stadium and how occasional groups of fans become trickles and the closer you get the stadium more and more fans are on the streets. I wonder what proportion of 32,000 fans at a match live within 5 miles of the stadium and are able bodied, and what proportion insist on driving.
  13. Wonder how many goalkeepers have scored against us? Begović for one.
  14. He still has 12 months on his contract, so if he doesn't extend it I imagine we'd sell him for a fee this summer rather than let him leave for free next summer.
  15. I don't have a Sky Sports subscription. I was wondering since it's being broadcast for free - what's the legitimate way of streaming it? I expect my girlfriend will want to watch TV after work and I'm wondering if I can watch the match on my laptop without having a Sky subscription? Or will it mean trawling for a link to a dodgy third party stream with loads of pop-up ads? Tried downloading the Sky Go app, which just delivers error codes if I try and watch anything.
  16. Will it be possible to stream the Sky Pick matches (on a laptop) as well as watching them on the telly?
  17. Even if that logic were to prevail the League Cup's been concluded, so the Pompey result stands.
  18. No need for wifi, you'd only end up with half the stadium staring at their phones instead of watching the match.
  19. Not just our biggest ever defeat, but the Premier League's biggest ever.

    Che Adams

I's still give him the benefit of the doubt for that reason, but so far I thought he goes down too easy too often and hasn't been gambling on balls into the box, so that he's either a yard a two away from crosses or players like Cedric are gambling on loose balls that he ought to be getting on the end of. Hopefully he improves and he gets a goal soon as many will hopefully follow. Unfortunately it's hard to justify him getting game time ahead of Ings if he continues to not score, as in football strikers really need to be scoring goals - image if Carillo had been cut as much slack.
  21. What formation were we playing? Team sheet looked like three at the back?
  22. I know Lemina wants to leave and it reduces some big wages - but does anybody else think that'll leave us a little light in midfield and short on quality there. PEH, Ward-Prowse, and Romeu. Then arguable Slattery and Armstrong as more attacking central options. PEH is just as inconsistent as Lemina.
  23. That's assuming he'll start ahead of Craig Gordon.
  24. For anyone following the African Cup of Nations might have noticed that Belmadi's just managed to get Algeria into the semi-finals. An interesting managerial career, could he ever be a future Saints manager? Would ideally need a successful spell managing in Europe first. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Djamel_Belmadi
  25. I think he's got decent enough pace. He's not Sadio Mane but it's enough for him to get to the byline and put crosses in. 1 goal and 3 assists in 16 last season compared to Bertrand's 1 goal and 0 assists in 24. https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/18/Show/England-Southampton I like Bertand he's a very good player, but like with Pelle, think that it's worth cashing in on him while we can. Would rather sell the player in decline than the one who's improving.
