  1. The design for it looks fairly good, a practical and compact building maintaininfg street level intimacy through shop units, decent sized spectators seating and a good looking building as well. I wonder if this would conflict at all with the indoor skiing centre that the council have planned which would be just a stones trow away, could benefit from each other. http://www.invest-in-southampton.co.uk/news/town-depot-mkting.asp#0 http://www.astralhomes.co.uk/developments/show/5 There's housing and apartments planned to be built just down the road, not sure if they are being built, or are built. Anyone know why the existing development next to this (and by the st marys bussiness/industrial estate) is so low rise, it seems the ideal area for high rise deveolopment, prehaps so as not to block views of st marys spire?

    Fish Mills

I thought Mills was comfortably our Man of Pre Season, he scored two or three goals I think, and was looking very impressive, I thought he'd feature a lot more. People seemed to have given him a fair bit of stick when he played in midfeild, but I've felt he is very good there as well.
  3. I was always impressed with Paterson and thought that given games he would score a few goals, certainly a better prospect than Barnard seemed to be at that age. And since Pato's been here as long as he has, whereas the likes of Andy Carroll who's got a fair few in the league above us this season & Lukas Jutkiewicz who's Motherwell's top scoreer, he must have had something. I'm a little disapointed, as for me success would always be much sweeter if it were through producing our own players than by buying everyone else's readymade ones.
  4. don't recognise him, but sad news none the less, especially since you say he wore short shorts, which usually makes me chuckle.
  5. Would be a little disapointed if we got rid of Paterson to bring in Barnard, as I always thought he looked alright and would develop into a useful player, although if Pardew's not going to play him then he may as well go. But could become a reversal of the Davis - Beattie deal, where they end up with a top player as Barnard falls into the reserves.
  6. It was also Gleeson, i think, who started the pushing on James in the first half scuffle, but wasn't even booked, yet when MS did more or less the same thing towards the end, after a great deal more provocation, he was sent off. Kelv and James got booked for the scuffle (and NONE of their players - except the one who made the initial challenge from behind), even though James didn't push anyone (just finger waving), and Kelv was booked for pushing Gleeson off him. I wouldn't complain about the cards if the ref used the same standards for both teams. In a normal match Gleeson should have had 2 yellows, but by yesterday's standards 2 reds would have been more appropriate.
  7. Fair point, Lineker also never got booked, and its great to think that players could do that, althought Charlton and Lineker wouldn't haved needed to do much to get booked today. Just curious, but who was captain tonight? Was it Kelv? is he entitled to come out of his goal to break up a fracar?
  8. I thought Gleeson's push on James during the first half in incident that saw James and Kelvin both booked was no worse than Schniderlin's push on...Gleeson at the end. The ref seemed to ruling by double standards, and although many of our cards can be justified they were by large harsh. Either James or Kelvin should have been booked in that scuffle along with Gleeson who was doing most of the pushing until Kelv came out. I didn't think Thomas deserved a booking either from the replay it looked like he went up for the header and clashed heads, nothing more, the ref seemed intend of making something of it everytime he penalised us. Not sure why, for a semi final on a day when there are few other games in the country we didn't get a better ref.
  9. I thought Bale scored about half a dozen for us before he left, as well coming very close numerous times.
  10. Hadn't realised he's gone for the Jesus look these days, until I googled him. He looks even more like Jesus than Jesus (Ostlund) did.
  11. anyone know, if there's anywhere online to stream it for free? I actually have eurosport, but only have 1 tv and live with a bunch of girls who complain no end whenever football comes on.
  12. Plymouth's attendance for their last two matches has been closer to 9,000. A quick glance at wikipedia shows that Devon and Cornwall combined have approx the same population as just Hampshire, both Hants and Devon have three teams in the football league/Prem (Plymouth, Exeter, Torquay and P*mpey, Saints, Aldershot). Plymouth's catchment area is no larger, and probably smaller than ours, you could say that thay might also compete with Exeter, Bristol City, " Rovers, Yoevil, if we compete with Bournemouth, Pompey, Salisbury. We also have fanbases in The fact is we got twice the attendances they do when we were in the same position, and as we were watching our team in the worst position they had been in for some 30 years, whereas Plymouth are enjoying one of the best periods of their history. The club doesn't warrant a stadium any larger than they currently have. I think that the footballing hertiage of cities should also have been a major consideration, which makes the idea of milton keynes as a host city even worse. I think it's strange that although its an English bid, Cardiff's Millenium Stadium was not involved.
  13. acording to the bbc write up, we're in the 'JP Trophy Northern area final.' http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/8410648.stm
  14. are there any highlights tonight, or any other time?
  15. shouldn't paint bathrooms, should tile them, stats aren't impressive for saints
  16. could be formatted a little better (consistent typeface and font size), the content's good.
  17. The Anchor Pub, Dungarvan, Co Waterford
  18. well I watched it in a pub, found one showing it in the little town I currently live in in Ireland. Needless to say I was the only person watching it.
  19. He had a moustache.
  20. liked their little feature on Sutton United, their manager Paul Doswell, talking about Saints, saying he's a lifelong fan and Pardew 'lets him' go down and watch a training session once a week. And that of course he'd love to draw us.
  21. I'm living in Ireland at the moment, and we have some sort of TV package which has the five UK terestrial channels as well as the freeveiw ones and and few more. Problem is, is that sometimes I'm not at home on a Saturday night and miss the highlights, I've no means of recording it and it is quite annoying. Must be to do with broadcasting rights and not TV licenses, since the BBC make money through advertising on their international website (through video, and banners). Virgin Media highlights won't work on their website abroad when I lived in Hong Kong either, quite frustrating. Is it possible to get free audio commentary from anywhere yet?
  22. He plays for Stevenage, as Eddie Odhiambo.
  23. although we might not be able to fill a bigger stadium, evidence would suggest that we would do a far better job than bristol city, portsmouth, multon keynes, plymouth, etc
  24. "Fifteen English cities have been short-listed as prospective venues for matches. They comprise Hull, Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester, Newcastle, Sheffield and Sunderland in the north, Birmingham, Derby, Leicester and Nottingham in the Midlands, and Bristol, London, Milton Keynes and Portsmouth in the south." Southampton's training facilities would be excellent with the wellington sports ground & eastleigh football club, and also marchwood for the other team. If we were to bid, it should really be ahead of milton keynes, as well as portsmouth. I particularly resent the fact that mk have bid, as they have no footballing hertiage, and not much else to offer either. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/south_yorkshire/8208858.stm http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_conf/8212215.stm http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/p/portsmouth/8097496.stm
  25. they've since made a bid to host World Cup games, 'Details of a base camp for international players and training facilities make up the proposal by the city council hoping to host some games.' 'Portsmouth plan to expand the capacity of Fratton Park to 30,000 before building a new stadium with a 40,000-plus capacity.' (bbc) why can't we be a world cup venue, already have training facilities twice as good, literally since we have marchwood and their training ground (wellington), would simply be rewarding an already wealthy club for having consistently poor attendances.
