Sounds like it could well have been. A very good signing for them, could be just what they need to end their bad form, hope not though, as we're gaining on them fast.

Have to agree. One thing I don't understand is how would any team buy any of their players, all the major leagues in europe and the football league have to still abide by the transfer window, therefore no money can change hands until the transfer window opens? It's a two way street, no?

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/8583130.stm Was an accident involving a cyclist near Northam Bridge today, so looks like there may be road closures.

would they have any decent youth team players that could improve our youth/reserve team and ultimately our first team? would that be anymore realistic? from what first team players they actually own, most of them are in their 30s already and all are overpaid.

So who's received their wembley tickets in the post yet?
st alex replied to saints_is_the_south's topic in The Saints
Got mine today, it's massive. -
was a few police running around just before the match, a couple of groups ran through fans to get onto the footbridge over the railway and then went down the ramp towards the council estate.

Dublin to Bournemouth (ryanair) is generally much cheaper, and closer to southampton. €10 each way last time I did it, which was a week ago.
-
buying mine now, told 200 left.

James, not even made the bench, is he injured?

Hopefully it wouldn't have to look as bad as them, we should be abke to employ decent architectects, and since 3 stands would be increased backwards and upwards it could be given an entirely new shell, even circular, with the 'old' itchen stand left as it is.

The new Aviva Stadium, (Lansdown Road), Dublin which is nearly finished and looks great looks like it has a station integreated into it in a way which could be done to St Mary's, although granted, it's not on the main line so I'm not sure where the trains would come from? I do remember reading on some dusty old website which catalogued old train stations that there did used to be a station at Northam in the old days.

So who's travelling the furthest for the Pompey game?
st alex replied to lordswoodsaints's topic in The Saints
Was he on the 08.05 to Bournemouth this morning? as I wasn't the only saints fan, first saints shirt I've seen in Ireland after 5 months being here. Although it took longer to get from Co. Waterford to Dublin than it did to get from Dublin to Bournemouth and then Southampton, and with the state of public transport in Ireland it meant staying the night in the airport as well. -
Their new defender,Rocha's been sent off against Sunderland, so will he be suspended against us? They've got no defenders on the bench that I recognise, so could leave them quite weak at the back.

I was going by the 23,000 that saints twitter had quoted as saying were sold. However looking back at it, their figures don't seem to make much sense as two posts previous to that figure (and the day before linked general sale) 20,000 had been sold. Which would have meant selling just 3k on the thursday - or 6k if you use other sources.

You can't expect everyone from Southampton to stay there their whole lives, Tim obviously still spends a great deal of time and money on saints. Besides I hardly think that the fairweather's who havn't been to game since the prem, and who would therefore be on the database are any more deserving, many of those on the database only have a passing interest in football/saints, otherwise we'd be selling out 100k stadiums, if they went to only half the games.
-
I'd have thought we would have sold more p*mpey tickets than 23,000, if there were already 4,000 gone to skates and 12,000 to season tickets, (16,000) before linked sale, and the que went right around the stadium with most people also buying for friends/family, then I'd have thought that all that traffic reported both at the stdium and over the phone lines would have been for far more than 7,000k.
-
Agree in that I think there should have been some kind of purchase history before this. However if you have 10 friends with customer numbers (and have therefore been to saints games in recent years) and none of them actually wanted to go to this game and they were all happy for you to abuse the system, then wouldn't that be a little odd, no?

Never really understood these threads, its quite easy to find the goals on the bbc site. If there was a video of the goals that could be viewed from outside the UK then that would be good.

Puncheon Signs 3 1/2 Yr Contract at Saints
st alex replied to Somewhere In Northam's topic in The Saints
Maybe he could also be useful in the central midfeild position that many thought we needed strengthening? McGoldrick's positions were up front or on the wing but then when converted to cm he looked more impressive I thought. I dont remember Puncheon playing, but what kind of player is he (style wise)? -
Love this quote, "He looked very sharp in training today and he hit the back of the net four times in the practice match we had, his finishing was classy and sublime."

Bottom end of the high street, by the Dolphin Hotel and oposite For Your Eyes only, I think

Ha, that'll be the same Ryanair route I booked, but it was €40, although as an unpaid intern I can't really afford to be buying tickets to games that I'm not going to. Have fun in Dublin, but be warned, pints are pretty expensive! I should be back for the later part of season, so I'll have to get a game for then or else give the ticket to my brother.
-
I think the way they've done it, kind of encourages plastic fans and works against those with a good history of match attendance. I've lived in Ireland since early September, having been to all the home games this season before leaving, and the Exeter match while I was back during Christmas, and I have a season ticket for the two previous seasons while I lived in England. I've already booked a flight over for this match, however I'm not going to be able to go to Walsall, and fear that the JCLs will snap them all up by the time they are on non-linked sale. I geuss I'll have to pick a match towards the end of the season when I should be back in the UK?

Victor Moses would do nicely, although I'm sure he's out of our league. Danns would also be nice. It is a shame though as Palace tend to produce a lot of their own good youngsters and never really overspent. Although didn't this have something to do with Jordan getting fed up with the FA tribuneral's compensation deal for a youngster that left to spurs? He said the football autorities had double standards and refused to put any more money into the club as a sulk/protest, or something similar?
