    Arrested 11

    Dave Jones as manager.
  2. Not sure about Northam, where I sit in the Kingsland we que up if we want to use the toilets or catering facilities - thought this would have been more or less the same everywhere.
  3. Ted Bates?
  4. To be honest I never use match threads (or the forum even) during the match because other external sites give you live text commantary, line ups, stats etc. I only come on here before and after matches, does the site crash during matches or something?

    Chambo

Just for the record I wasn't insinuating that Puncheon wasn't good enough for the team, just that I didn't think he was playing as well as he can at the moment, and that he could also (along with Chambo) benefit with being rested. Even last season I thought Puncheon seemed a little hit and miss and that he didn't have the consistency others have mentioned - for every five or so good games he seemed to have a bit of a shocker. Although he does seem to be one of the few players, along with Lallana who is always looking for the ball and enjoys being in possesion, trouble is half the time he doesn't seem to know what to do with it. I'm still not entirely convinced by him, but hopefully Adkins can get the best out of him. I don't think anyone's slated Puncheon on this thread, which makes a change, but IMO both our options on the right, Chambo and Puncheon could benefit on with a rest, prehaps rotating them could be an option. The squad does seem a little lopsided as options down the left wing far outway the right, with Puncheon, Lallana, Holmes, Mills and Dickson all good enough to start down the left.

    Chambo

But he's not been very good this season? And the team being pretty good last season wasn't entirely down to Puncheon.

    Chambo

I'd quite like to see Pencheon dropped or rested for a while, since (I can only speak for his home form) he's been poor, possibly lallana to play on the right to give Chamberlian a rest and dickson/mills/holmes to play on the left of midfield.

    Lloyd James

I can never understand animostity against players who come up through our youth system, they generally have a strong affiliation to the club and generally are determinded and hard working, as was the case with James. The same with Lancashire, just a young player who started to break into team, no doubt because of injuries to other players, he didn't quite cut the mustard so was let go, there's no real need to hate a young player just for not quite being good enough - who probably wouldn't be good enough for our current squad, but was nowhere nearly as bad as people made out. I thought James did a decent job for us, he wasn't the quickest, but neither is half our team, and its hardly an esential attribute for a league one right back. He cost the club nothing and would have been on lower wages than many other players, since when he played a fair few games for us, under different managers he couldn't have been that bad, its not as if we had better options, like Dani Alves sitting on the bench.
  9. For a 26 year old to have made just 38 appearances in his entire footballing career is pitiful. The only guy to sign him before us was his own father, a previous loan spell at Torquay was cut short because he struggled to break into the first team and he failed to impress Doncaster during a trial. How can he possibly be any good? He also seems to be made of glass, although I'll wait to see him play until I decide for sure whether he is genuinly as rubbish as reports would suggest.

    Lloyd James

This seems to be one the sticking points when people would bash James, but I remember watching take corners for us last season, and on several occasions we actually scored from them, something that we have not looked like doing for ages before and since, likewise the same thing with wide free kicks, and you can't possibly say that our corners and wide free kicks are any better now.

Would be worth having him in the team still, if only to take corners and swing in free kicks, because Puncheon's deliveries leave something to be desired.
  12. Didn't know where else to post this, but thought this would be a relevant enough, as I felt this was quite noteworthy. Love him or hate him, I still think its good to have some slightly more thought provoking and asthetically decent street art around. But I'm confident that I spotted a BANKSY IN SOUTHAMPTON today, in Mount Plesant Road, a stones throw from the Dungeon nightclub. I've not seen many decent stencils in Southampton so this stood out, I'm quite familiar with Banksy's work, having lived in Bristol. I did think it could be a fake, but since images of this same piece have appeared on the web in the last couple of days (but in what looks like a different location), and been attributed to Banksy, it doesn't give much time to copy it. http://www.woostercollective.com/2010/09/first_look_super_fresh_stuff_from_banksy.html (No Future)
  13. I'm sure that on many subjects my views would be similar to SISA or the Saints Trust and on others they might differ. Its still interesting to hear someone else's variation on a subject, coming from a slightly different perspective, I tend to keep an open mind on most things and no doubt that even if another fans organisation were to be put together I would still agree with some views and disagree with others, judging from this forum I don't agree with half the posters who seem to have almost bigoted opinions on matters.
  14. Ditto. I notice there's no Martin in our first 18 today, hopefully after a few more days here Adkins might include him, thought he's been one our few decent performers so far this seaon.

    Toilet Rolls

Toilet rolls can add alot to an atmosphere, hopefully they'll make a return, for special occasions at least.
  16. Yahoo maps is a little dated and their stalite image shows both the dell and st marys, the best of both worlds. http://uk.maps.yahoo.com/#mvt=s&lat=50.909515&lon=-1.404125&zoom=16 Some stuff at St Marys does annoy me, some bloke was sat in my seat last match, which didn't bother me too much as there were few spares further along, but I found it annoying that he didn't stand up to let me past instead just shuffled back in my seat and didn't even stand when the players came out. There was nothing wrong with his legs because he used them to walk away fine later on, but people who insist on sitting during goals and when the team coming really annoy me. Sorry for drifting off topic slightly. This was in kingsland north btw, it would be nice to have standing areas still, maybe if two or three stands had lowers tiers of standing areas.
  17. If work started, then did the building which housed the changing rooms, canteen etc get demolished, I'm assuming this would be the first stage? Which would mean that we'd be without some fairly basic facilities, although that would probably mean they are using portacabins for the time being?
  18. Jehangir in Bassett (just at the top of Hill Lane) do pretty good curries, and pretty cheap, £6-8 I think, being an Indian (Bangladeshi) restaurant there should be a few veggy options, sag etc.
  19. Anyone know if there are any highlights on tv (freeview) or online anywhere?
  20. Thought in both matches he looked like he has quality, but just isn't used to our team and style yet. Although I also thought he has a degree of arogance about his body lanuage and looks like he could have some attitude, was quite surprised to see how many times he complained that a pass hadn't been made to him.
  21. Would be the worst choice as manager I'd have thought, he's never been a successful manager at any of his former clubs. He's been consistently poor, plus he's an skate. According to wikipedia: Paul Hart win ratio = 30.75% Alan Pardew win ratio = 43.75% Not really sure who I would like in, Nick Homes, Eddie Howe & Paul Tisdale would be good due to recent promotion experiences and local connections, but then I don't know if the players would have the respect for them that today's performance suggested they had for Pardew. The good thing with Pardew was that he had good experience in this league and the Premiership which is quite rare today.
  22. ssn & bbc both have Barnard's sending off as two yellows? Is this accurate? I didn't notice him get shown any yellows? From where I was sat looked like he got the ball, and didn't really seem to even get much of the player, although the ref was in my way.
  23. Initially very surprised and disapionted by the news as I like AP and thought we have gone up with him this season. The Guardian's insight: 'A number of recently recruited figures to the coaching staff had resigned, reportedly citing discontent with Pardew and his closest staff.' This does fit the reports of staff walking lately, doctor etc (although at the time I asumed it was clashes with NC if anything).
  24. Thought there were a couple of times when Martin let the ball bounce a couple of times last night, where Jaidi would surely have headed it half the length of the pitch. However, Jaidi looks a real liability whenever a ball is played along the ground, I do rate Martin, and would prefer him to start ahead of Jaidi & Seabourne, although I'm probably a little bias as I want to see a young Southampton born player who was playing non league football this time last year force his way into the starting 11 and oust an experienced international.
