  1. Looks like it will be Magners, Grolsh and (urh) Carling. http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~2385163,00.html
  2. Has someone been messing with his wiki page or is his full name really 'Jack Frank Porteous Cork'? unlucky if so.
  3. He's already signed for us according to wikipedia. 'Riise spent seven years in England playing for Premier League side Liverpool before returning to England in June 2011 signing a 3 year contract with championship side Southampton for an undisclosed fee' http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Arne_Riise Don't know if its such a good idea for people to edit the profiles of our supposed transfer targets?
  4. He reminded me of Waigo from the video, looked like they have quite similar styles, relient on being very quick and in the right place at the right time and fairly unorthodox generally. Although I was never a huge fan of Papa Waigo, he got goals, but they seemed fairly fortuitus, almost accidental even.
  5. Should really add Lukas Jutkiewicz to 3 strikers in the thread title. A bit younger than the others (22 yrs), so with a bit of potential. He's not hit 20 a season yet, but since he's still pretty young thats not really surprising. He's been Motherwell & Coventry's top scorer in the past 2 seasons, and he's a Saints fan. A few people on here will probably gone to school with him at Mountbatten. He should also be a bit cheaper than Sharp or Maynard and Coventry are in a dire fanancial situation. I think it would be a missed oportunity not to go for him. Source http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11700_6998879,00.html Last minute goal in the 6-6 game against Hibs for Motherwell.
  6. This is my preferred one so far, well composed & balanced, a nice clean font, and the text & image sit well together. Think it looks better red on white than white on red looks. Besides we did just spend a whole season playing in white, and for all we know we still do. Also think this will look good on a giant flag, which some of the other designs might not. Please don't go for any with distressed fonts or any other novelty fonts.
  7. I thought he looked incrediable on his loan debut for us, and that his following performances were never quite as good, however that was some time ago and I certainly think he's the sort of player we need to be signing to do well next season. I've not seem him play for a while but we could do a lot worse.
  8. Why does anyone what to sell him? the money's useless unless we can buy players with it. The understanding is that we already have money to buy players with and £10/15 million will not really really make much difference to our transfer budget, look at when we had Burley and spent £9 million on ****e players like skacel, BWP etc. Oxo's the most exciting player to have been here since Bale & Walcott, I enjoy watching him play and would like to continue doing so for as long as possible.
  9. Hopefully it would work out like that, although even when p*mpey were in admin and just after and 'had' to cut their wage bill they still kept and signed what must be some huge earners (Kanu, Mokonea, Lawernce, Mullins, Kitson, Nugent) - any other team would have sold these players for whatever offers they got and signed up some league 1/championship players for free or peanuts. Any rule would have to be properly defined and enforced to restore faith in the football authorities and end double standards.
  10. There's no reason why he should go. He's still only 17. Connor Wickham is another one who's at Ipswich, he gets quite a bit of media attention and is highly rated, but there seems to be an understanding that he's staying (has stayed put for a couple of seasons) with them. If he goes anywhere he's only going to get loaded out to a championship team next season anyway.
  11. Sounds like a bit like Remi Gaillard.
  12. Wasn't sure where to put this and it may have been mentioned already, but I've not the 16 pages of this thread. But I was just looking at the results of the local elections and saw that there was an independant candidate running for Redbridge called Ricky Lambert; my question - is this the same Ricky Lambert who plays for Saints? http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/news/politics/local_election_2011/constituency/127/
  13. Did we do one for the last home game of last season, or was it the season before to celebrate our relegation? Completely looses it's meaning when you do it every year pre-determinded, regardless of the result.
  14. Disagree I'd say they are/should be spontaneous, they should certainly be as a direct consequence of the result of the match and since our result will be meaningless, I don't really think there's that much point. Its like winning a cup final and then pitch invading the next home game. Last game of the season always has a great atmosphere, I'd say just make it even better by singing louder and longer. Laps of honors can be quite special too.
  15. Not sure about that table, having done Graphics at UWE and visited a few degree shows, heard about & seen work from the various courses at other universities, I'd really question the placement of some of those - like Brighton, Bath Spa, UWE being below Southampton, Dundee, Lancaster etc. I think that if a uni offers really good creative courses then this is reflected in the city, Southampton is pretty devoid of the arts when compared to cities/universities like Bristol and Brighton. I'd say go to Nottingham, as long as the course isn't terrible the opportunities the city offers should outweigh anything Lougborough has.
  16. I read that obituary and decided to google Erica Roe (the Twickenham Streaker) as he was responsible for covering her up during her performance. She was from Petersfield so there's another tenuous localish link and actually has her own wikipedia page unlike Bill who I'd have thought would have from what was said in the obituary.
  17. Surely if you have to distract kids from the entertainment (the football match being played out in front of them), with a DS or whatever ever gameboy device is around then they are too young. It's also quite iritating for others to have kids climbing over the seats and playing on an iphone etc while your trying to actually watch a match. I'd say, take them when they actually ask to go.
  18. One of the very few sensible posts I've seen on this thread, who anyone thinks we could replace him with is beyond me. And I'm not sure why Walcott's used as a constant comparison other that that he played in a similar position - Walcott's barely improved since leaving. Those saying we should sell, were probably saying that £5 mil was a great price to get for Bale for as well. Bale was made to look quite ordinary a lot of the time for us as too, excelling mainly at the start of the season and when taking free kicks. Walcott was very good for us, as he was a little faster and he exploits his pace more which is very effective against football league teams, in terms of technique and creativity Chamberlin is better, he can actually cross as well. In response to earlier posts, Those with even shorter memories who can't seem to remember games a few weeks ago seem to have also forgot that yes Chamberlain has played on the left, against Man Utd and for large spells in games around the time of the Man Utd game and he looked very ineffective and uncomfortable. Its almost as if people just want Arsenal/Barca/Milan to sign him to give them an excuss to go and support them. If we do get £10mil for him then it would be good business, but no one worth £10mil will come here, no one worth £5mil would come here either, no one even worth £2/3 mil would be likely to come here. The money wouldn't really be that useful, except that our bank account would be healthier, and if it's difficult for us to negociate fees for players now, it would only get harder.
  19. I don't think Dickson's played since his high profile giving the ball away which lead to Man Utd scoring. When I've seen him play at St Marys I've always thought he tends to drift into the middle of the pitch a lot and doesn't give much width or defensive cover. Still though he looked quite good there as central midfielder. As a left back or left winger I prefer Harding and Lallana, and even Mills.
  20. How can they have match worn shirts? I'm assuming from friendlies/reserve games?
  21. Can they not extend the split commentary to include the match build up and post match stuff? instead of trying to build up and analyse all three games at once which no doubt annoys the cheats and the cherries just as much.
  22. Would have thought that Poke would have been our next back up, I hadn't realised that he had even left, just checked and he's at Brighton, anyone if he at least even makes the bench there?
  23. Guly's the same as Saga, he hit form just at the right time (before the transfer window), and looked like he was something until we signed him prfessionally, unfortunately he's unlikely to score many if any more for us imo.
  24. Kamil Kosowski plays for Apollon Limassol, were they at Saints at the same time? I imagine thay're both sat on the beach drinking brandy sours together these days.
  25. The Aviva and Croke Park are both cursed with a lack of suufienct space and a tiny end stand, although I think the Aviva has a train station in the stadium.
