  1. Brighton not bringing the Caicedo price down. Offered £80M, and that was turned down. Now Chelsea realising JWP for half that represents better value.
  2. For JWP. And even the passionate West Ham fanzine have described it as "insulting" - a day after they were calling on Saints "to get real for a 28yo". They have turned into Spurs. They will probably come in at £25M on deadline day as a last resort. I think £125M would be more reasonable. JWP can play DM, as a number 10, or right wing. Declan Rice can't, and he went for £105M. So go over £100M and we'll consider it. 😀
  3. If we've really put a £10M price tag on Adams, as reported, then I'm sure many a PL club will be prepared to gamble that on Adams.
  4. Yeah, Genk have said 5m EUR is their budget and then player has to accept a low wage. Let's get him up to speed and playing, would be my advice. There HAS to be a player in there. He scored goals before. We are not going to get much back on the empties.
  5. Got to feel for the guy. ACL injury in training as soon as he gets to Turkey. Now Trabs want to freeze his contract, and presumably not pay him? https://sportwitness.co.uk/players-new-contract-may-frozen-weeks-southampton-sold-club-considering-options/
  6. That would be my stance too. I understand Wham were offering £25M cash OR Downes plus £10M cash. We countered that we see JWP as worth £40M. But yes, I would take player plus £25M. Take it and move on.
  7. I can't comment on Flynn Downes. I've not seen him play but many of you have and say he is good. I assume our response is related to a declining of '£25M plus player on loan' whereas we value JWP at £40M, so don't want any sleight of hand in a year's time when we realize we only got £25M for JWP. We WILL need another CM if we lose JWP and Lavia. Charles is one, we need another.
  8. Hard to say. I can see them rushing in with an £8m 'this is our final offer' bid at 10pm on deadline day. Kinda depends if Tella's heart is with us for next season.
  9. You don't think his ongoing payments to this previously 17 yo (now 20yo) male that continues to fund his drug habit, prompting his parents to speak up pleading for him to stop, bear any investigation? As long as it's not illegal, that's okay?
  10. Just came with a similar link. Surprising candidate, but may explain his absence in pre-season.
  11. Thanks Patches. I had tried search area on Sounds 'Adam Blackmore' and just got Sylvie Blackmore of BBC Sussex, so a direct link was useful. It's probably inappropriate of us to discuss his issues here, but wish him all the best.
  12. Other Belgian sides have expressed an interest, so likely he will go there.
  13. They do say to keepers "Make yourself wide, try to fill the goal"
  14. Definitely. But what would be his wage demands? If we can afford him, and he would come back, we can end the search now. We have found our man. Che would stay too.
  15. Sadly, we can probably identify the players we expect to go as of now, but the un/acceptable offers probably won't come in until Transfer Deadline Day. Then we are up against the clock to find and agree deals for replacements.
  16. Obviously we've only heard one side of the story, but sounds like a sensible chairman so far. As Chez said, it doesn't make economic sense to give DM a 300% rise, plus his entire team a (presumably large) rise, and for 3 years. Imagine if they get relegated after first season? I guess he could insert a clause that salary falls to original level on relegation? So far it sounds like Darren Moore thought Sheff Wed had reached Man City income levels?
  17. Haha, that was going through my mind to comment on too. We need someone on Tall Paul watch from the trees around Staplewood.
  18. Would be good to see what REALLY goes on behind the scenes, and in the dressing room....
  19. Yeah, agree. I thought the announcement meant we had AGREED compensation, but we seem to have gone ahead and left the lawyers to wrangle. Statements from Swansea like "they owe us" do indeed mean we will be paying over the odds for any player still under contract with them, or indeed we may have to accept they are not available to us.
  20. Ruben obviously likes a lost cause? Or he just hasn't moved yet, and likes idea of a direct train service Southampton to Reading? Actually, now Green Park station has opened, he can get off there and be at the ground in 5 minutes.
  21. Wow, Swansea fans network really don't rate Southampton, the club, the location, how it's run. They think RM will be sacked after 3 losses. And Matt Grimes is only on £6k a season!!! https://www.fansnetwork.co.uk/football/swanseacity/news/60350/grimes-undecided-on-southampton-as-family-must-come-first-…
  22. Athletic said Macca is our 2nd highest wage (after JWP) and may be subject to a wage cut (only speculation, I have no intel) so it would be transfer we would be happy to make.
  23. Sadly, it does, then. If we were not prepared to let him go, we wouldn't be having talks. That may explain the links to Josh Windass.
  24. If Burnley are pitching for Che, can we take that as an indication they have accepted defeat over Tella?
  25. Yeah, I expected that reaction from you all. OK, let's not bring anyone in until the day before the season starts. Hey, we don't want to spend even a quid more than we need to. It's called PLANNING. Failing to plan is planning to fail. We could have negotiated a deal for Martin plus any players we want and been friendly about it. It's not bed-wetting, it's good business practice.
