  1. Hope Blackburn go up from L1. Haven't been to Ewood Park since the late nineties. When we won. Glory days here we come. That is the only positive I can take from today. 'kin ell.
  2. Love it! (Also like the fact no one quite got it). Gridiron is a brilliant game. I love watching it. Probably second only to Cricket. Football is my first love, but for enjoyment to watch it is Cricket and NFL. Rugby is alright, but not anywhere near as tactical or as skillful as people think, nor is it as tactical as Football. Rugby fans have a massive chip on their shoulder too - check out the numbers of memes which are pro rugby /anti football compared to vice versa. Even in Rugby, real rugby (League) is much more exciting to watch, but Union is more passionate on a national level. As others have said Curling is good. It's like team darts on ice. And who doesn't love the darts? I can't think of any sport I don't enjoy watching. Even Golf has its moments. But yeah, Rugby is better than people think - if you like watching fast paced premier league football, try watching a Rugby League game. Might get you into it. Oh, yeah, just remembered one sport I hate watching. It is dull, pointless and depressing: England Football Internationals.
  3. I stopped by for the Beautiful Hair. I stayed for the Aphex Twin. Perfect.
  4. Thanks Jim. Sorry MLG. Oddness.
  5. I didn't want to start the 2018/19 Kit Thread (not because it is too early, just that I should, obviously, leave that to The9). Anyways, bumping this one for this great BBC article. http://www.bbc.co.uk/bbcthree/article/fc5ce1c6
  6. WBA are my new team. Why would I stay away? Pfft. FFS. Grr. Face meet palm. Etc.
  7. I think the Black effect has been proven to have some truth to it. While results might not have come on (ie still can't win a game), the squad looks fitter and and more composed. The managers tactics are still from a weird parallel universe where you attack by going backwards, but the players do seem more 'up for it' now Black has gone. Not saying it was all him (how could it be!?) but his absence appears to have had a positive effect for whatever reason! Agree it's not the root cause, but his appointment was a symptom of the malaise and appeared to co tribute to its hold on the club. Cutting away the dead flesh bit by bit is a start, even if a full amputation may still be necessary soon.
  8. FFS! Bloody typical, spend the money on Socks. When everyone knows what area of the kit we are Shorts in.
  9. Quincy Still On! http://www.tvguide.co.uk/m-detail/230664/135172894
  10. Happy Quincy Promes Day, Everybody!
  11. Get him in. We made a mistake thinking Bednarek was actually Banacek, clearly. However, this will satisfy my need to have at least one daytime sleuth playing for Saints.
  12. Quincy, Quincy. Give Us A Wave, Quincy, Quincy, Give Us A Wave. No? Nothing? Oh Quincy, what are we to do eh?
  13. We should reserve judgment and keep our powder dry... ...He might go on to blow up the Premier League and set St Mary's alight with goals! Pretty sure the plot is to send in crosses, as he is quite explosive in the air. Let's not chuck him on the bonfire just yet eh? Remember remember The Mickey of Evans. Etc. Welcome Guido UTS
  14. Quincy? Quincy, is that you? Come on Quincy, don't be shy! Come play for the Saints! Quincy? Quincey, come back...
  15. Where's My Quincey, Promes? Where's My Quincey Promes! Where's My Quincey, Promes? Where's My Quincey Promes? Where's My Quincey, Where's My Quincey, Where's My Quincey Promes?! (I am assuming Promes is one syllable, or else this doesn't scan).
  16. Kelechi Iheanacho to be given rest of season to prove himself at Leicester. Expect a cut price deal to be on the cards in the summer.
  17. Iheanacho, 18m+add-ons, from Leicester.
  18. In which case... ... a bit of Moody Blues. Since you gotta go, oh you'd better Go Gao, go Gao, go Gao (Go Gao)
  19. Got any work going?
  20. Good luck to him, remember he was out for most of the second half of last season which can't have helped his progression. I see loan moves as the next step from playing U23 or going on the pre-pre-season trip. More competitive against seasoned pros. The difference in skill level is not as vast as some people make out and the physicality is pretty much the same. He has always come across as having a bit more savvy than your average teenager/footballer; so I would imagine he has thought hard about his options and chosen to prove himself in regular competitive games.
  21. Just got a copy of Bad Wisdom. F*ck me, what a read. Beautifully written account of a half- imagined road trip to the north pole to save the world via Elvis, leylines, drug cocktails and horrible horrible groupie sex. The sort of book Bearsy would read to kids at bedtime. Sent from my A0001 using Tapatalk
  22. (This link might work, who knows?) http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/live/football/38571746?ns_mchannel=social&ns_source=twitter&ns_campaign=bbc_live&ns_linkname=58906690e4b0cb77c14e5ff1%26Southampton%20to%20prosper%20from%20January%20deals%3F%26&ns_fee=0#post_58906690e4b0cb77c14e5ff1 SAM (the computer not the big fella at Ppalarse) reckons Gabby and Sakho would give Saints an extra 2.5 points come of the season. If both arrive and that turns out to be true, it's a pretty good return for Jan transfers. All speculation, of course, albeit by machine.
  23. A quick google reveals some intriguing background to the Lander and their (possible) ties to Liebherr, Sports and Money. To start with, this is a look at current Chinese investment in sport - mentioning Lander: http://www.scmp.com/sport/china/article/1935956/plenty-bold-forecasts-chinas-sporting-gold-rush-many-prospectors-are Breakdown of Lander's profits/loss for recent years. (plus a small paragraph which shows similarities to the Liebherr family of businesses, i.e. large scale construction) https://www.google.com/finance?cid=702915 or: http://www.capitalcube.com/blog/index.php/lander-sports-development-co-ltd-000558-cn-earnings-analysis-q2-2016-by-the-numbers-september-7-2016/ Discussing Lander's (abortive) plan to offer sports broadcasting in Maccau http://macaubusinessdaily.com/Business/New-Kid-Town-0 & http://agbrief.com/news/sands-cotai-partners-lander-real-estate-sporting-events (This appears to be a wedding or something too) Finally... ...Swiss Links. And Curling: http://en.ytsports.cn/news-2404.html
  24. My plan is to not watch this in a pub that has no televised sports, or free wi-fi. My phone will be off and I will be talking the toot with some (other) beardy folks who have little to no interest in sports. I did the same for England v Italy in 1997 and that worked out perfectly. I, of course, hope I miss some glorious football and a magnificent away win; however, I would be ecstatic with a battling no-score draw. Up The Saints.
  25. Who knows why he wears tights for some games? Possibly the weather... ...Although Naples is about 1.5°C warmer than Southampton in winter, most of northern Italy - where I assume Napoli play away games - is significantly colder than most of the UK. Take Milan/Manchester as an example - where Milan is on average 3°C colder during the winter months (around 0°C). Add in that Italy's subcontinental climate is warmer than Britain's oceanic climate for the rest of the year, then those cold months appear to bite harder. If he is coming on as a sub for those away games then use of sports compression tights sounds like a sensible idea (particularly if he has a 'muscle fatigue' issue, whatever that may be). [if it helps, just imagine the above being read by Carol Kirkwood] Or, Manolo must just like wearing tights.
