It's an arms race. On the one hand, the 3pm blackout is increasingly seen as archaic and unnecessary. (Plus the acknowledgement that those that watch football on telly at home are (mostly) not doing that instead of buying tickets to the match.) It won't be too long before a proper service is available to all fans. Then there's Sky etc using increasingly sophisticated tools and legal means to block streamers both at source and through ISPs. (Often negating VPNs etc). Eg: https://www.ft.com/content/ed022ce0-521a-465f-86b8-b7ea2c403407 I would caution against spending any more on illegal alternatives (eg IPTV) just yet. Although it won't be sorted for a season or two, of course.... So maybe £60 for an IPTV box/an afternoon faffing about with KODI is worth the risk/time.

Erm. It's on the club crest... ..."For The Badge"

Came here to say this. Cracking tune by a much underated band.

Understand we are just waiting for Rudi Skácel to complete (perhaps even start?) his coaching badges. Be announced shortly.

Which available/affordable manager has the best record in Cup competitions? Can we get Wenger in for 4/5 games and Selles takes the team in the league? Surely that's the only sensible suggestion?! 😜
-
Clearly nonsense... ...I mean, honestly, "Trophy Cabinet"? 🤪😜

Bazunu KWP ABK Salisu Perruad Alcaraz Lavia JWP Sulemana Onuachu Adams (That's NJ's infamous* 442/Midfield Diamond + utilising Che for what he is supposedly best at, supporting a No.9). Happy to see NJ try it for a couple of games at least. *Have we actually seen it yet?

*Who is. I know. A shitty grammatical thing to pull anyone up on. Sorry. I rarely post and very rarely bother with this sort of pedantry. But, hey, it's Duckhunter, so fuck it, right? 🤪😜

Southampton 0-1 Newcastle League Cup Semi Final 1st Leg
Polaroid Saint replied to Saint_clark's topic in The Saints
Newcastle should have scored three almost identical goals. Possibly four. We got a stumbled and fumbled 'goal' disallowed. It's not good enough. Apart from that, we are really only a striker short of a "half-decent" side. But it is many a decent team that gets relegated. -
Well this could go one of three ways now... ...we collapse back into the team we have seen for the last five games and lose. Season over unless we do something 'drastic'. ...we somehow build confidence, remember how to "do football" play like a team in the second half and the entire season turns on a flukey goal. ...Draw. Sack Jones. Replay at home with an actual manager and an actual team. Or, you know, a completely different outcome too. Love the travelling fans today, as always, supporting the team in full voice and letting the manager know exactly what we all think at the right time too.

I have just had the hottest faux chicken wrap in the entire world ever. Too hot to be honest, and although the crispy fresh lettuce and tomato and mayo was cooling, I now can't feel my face. Which only adds to the numb feeling of watching Saints.
-
I admire your valiant effort to counter every single negative comment about Jones and this team, however you appear to have missed how a coordinating conjunction works. The word 'but' in that sentence combines the two, previously contradictory, statements into a new one with different emphasis. (I have nothing to say about the football).

EDIT: now broke

Surely this is the song needed? "All he needs is just a little time"...

Saints 1-1 (p6-5) Sheffield Wednesday - Match Thread
Polaroid Saint replied to Picard's topic in The Saints
Everyone is knackered. Not just Saints, but look at the games across the cup matches. I'm knackered by this season already, and I don't have to run around twice a week like the players. Mind you, it's telling that four midfielders get to take pens before the striker. -
£25+5m is a lot of money for a backup striker.

Are they all at it. This one's alright to be fair. Nice logo But £46 ??? https://footballtown.com/collections/red/products/the-saints

It's probably worth noting, as an aside, that elite athletes are more susceptible to serious complications (due to reduced immunosuppression & pro-inflammatory response etc) IF they develop COVID-19 than fit, active and healthy people of the same age. Whilst they probably have the strength and youth to survive, long term complications are a genuine concern for any top level athlete.

Fair point about awareness of D&L rule before embarking on a game. Agreed. But perhaps better than a toss of a coin, which is the traditonal football method! Actually, maybe that's what we should have - one big toss off. Just a three hour special of Lineker/Chappers/Stelling introducing our favourite ex-pros from each club gurning eachother as Mike Riley tosses a coin. What fun. OR we just finish the season on FIFA. Why the **** not? Apperently Redders and Bertie are ace on the D-pad, so...

All true, and valid. And I don't really like the ideea. But it is not unheard of for sport to be decided by predictions based on previous performance. Where are Dcukworth and Lewis when you need 'em eh?

This - very quick n dirty - calculation shows the table after adding points for games not played, based on pints/games for the season gone. Also has GD calculated in the same way. The only changes are Sheffield United using their game in hand to leap frog Wolves by two points to go 6th (dropping Wolves into 7th) and - and this is quite funny I guess - Arsenal sneakign past SPurs, by under half a point. (If you round to nearest whole point figure, they are both on 54, and Spurs GD is better... ...so, one for North London to argue over). Not saying this is what I want, but clearly this shows the season can end here, as fairly as possible for all, and we crack on in the Autumn with a new season. I suspect similar calculations can be done for all divisions. Just playoffs that might have to be missed - third place team goes up...?

Winter Break Blues - Who else is concerned? Will our raw and untested full back combo be enough to replicate results(with the wee Portuguese fella)? Will our midfield cope without Proswey, at least until his leg is sowed back on? Do we have enough bite to survive? Is survival enough to give RH the tools he needs next year? If not, where are we next season? Can we somehow, against all the odds, create a winning and supportive atmosphere at St.Marys? Will we continue to play with energy, passion and skill and actually get our just rewards? Europe? Basically, who else is filling the next few days with a combination of unfounded fears, legitimate concerns and wild dreaming? With a third of the season to go... ..where are we at? Half full or half empty? I would do a poll but too lazy to work out how. Am emoji will probably do.
