  1. Let's just hope he doesn't pick up an injury tripping over his laces.
  2. Did this a year or so back for charity, although I don't like to talk about it. I was genuinely amazed at how powerful the experience was; akin to a bungee jump for adrenaline release. Breaking an arrow on my throat was rather cool too, only a few of us in the group did that. But really, the fire walk itself came at the end of what was an hour or so of a very good motivational talk by an ex SAS chap. I can remember a lot of what we were taught and have used it since. I should imagine what this is about too, all pretty standard science and motivational thinking, but done like this it really was very empowering.
  3. This exactly. It may be deluded, but I am willing to believe that having a positive, hard working, runner in midfield can add to the team in more than just the individuals contribution. A team is more than a sum of its parts. Plus, vitally, he was bald and as we all know bald saints midfielders are, by default, football geniuses.
  4. My immediate thoughts exactly. We really were getting him ready for the new season. In Norway. Sad to see Chaplow go, was absolutely vital in us gaining promotion. Reckon we would have won it if he'd come back as strong from injury.(!?) Clearly something of the CMFG about him too!
  5. Think I might have found my shirt for the season. Admittedly, it's not got any red on it, but it has got quite nice stripes! Just got back from Barcelona where the lovely new Barca away kit was everywhere, but of course, I wanted something a little different. Hardly any (decent) Esanyol kits anywhere, so this seems just right...
  6. Whoops. Didn't realise I was in TMS. Just replying to latest threads on a tablet, whilst listen to TMS (the other one, you know with the cricket). Next time I will say something like: Reading is the tits, I got offered three rocks of crack for only ten quids last time I was hanging outside 613 the pleasure zone.
  7. There is a plenty to dislike, but it does sound like you're referencing your personal experiences of working there (and the people you worked with) rather than the town itself. Never ventured to the Oakford? Or Sub89? Rising Sun (either pub or arts centre)? 21 south street? Or even the Rivermead? Or Hexagon? Not forgetting the numerous arts and music festivals. I am not sure why I am defending Reading quite so much, it is hardly my favourite place in the world, but it is renowned for good art and music on the 'alternative' scene at least.
  8. Reading? It's ugly for sure, but has a vibrate arts scene and is excellent for Music all year round, with a number of small venues hosting the most cutting edge bands. Include the surrounding towns and Reading is, cultural at least, a pretty decent town. But then, I'd that's not your sort of thing you wouldn't know that. Basingstoke on the other hand, yes awful.
  9. Yeah. I got a £4 red training top from soccerworldofsport.com and it's, like, red. Hehe stuff you Saints. Seriously, I cannot believe you have done this. Why? Actually, I don't care why, more fool you. Supporting the team wearing a red and white scarf your nan made is one thing, but this is just silly. I guess you'll buy a car sticker or something to make up for it, hey? ( Which would be step in the right direction.)
  10. It is quite easy to pick out trolls. Just read their posts. Like this one.
  11. This is good. By what do we mean valuable? Lickie has been, in real terms, the most valuable saints player of all time. MLT for keeping us up at least four maybe six seasons, got to be worth a few bob. Money/sky was different then obviously, but had we sold him to man u or whoever he probably would have broken any English transfer record. Who would, nay *should* command the highest fee as a player? Bale. Simply put the best footballer in the world right now, outside messi n neyhmar.* Ron Davis, by all accounts, would also be in the reckoning. Too young to have seen him myself, but old enough to recognise the ardent and genuine admiration in those who did. Sent from my cracked and broken Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
  12. I would love for this to be true. Just imagine! I'll be hitting F5 until he signs.
  13. I keep thinking I have said all I need/want to say on this subject, but I think this needs reiterating: (The results and methodologies can be debated, but research has been done and the empirical evidence is clear to the layman); over the last ten to fifteen years teams that have consistently performed well in the league and cup have had a yearly or biennial change of expensive and disappointing kits.
  14. Yes, we should be in this. Typical of Man City though, their solution is convoluted and, seeing as BT are running it, no doubt top whack. Liverpool are already using a better, more configurable, solution at Anfield with Xirrus APs. Give me a week and I could plan coverage for St. Marys without any issues, probably using Meraki for pure ease and scalability or maybe the new Rukus APs for the mesh (incredible performance in high density). Isn't this what AAP3 are for?
  15. COYR! (That is all I have to say on this subject.)
  16. The shirts the players are wearing in the video do NOT have a sponsor. The reason it hasn't leaked until yesterday (disregarding the fact we have pretty much known it would look like this for weeks) is down to the whole nonsense with the sponsor. All a bit weird really, why do the photoshoot with no sponsor, why photoshop the official release photos? Maybe we will just photoshop everything from now on? Last minute equaliser against us? Just photoshop Borucs arm a bit to make it even longer and, look, he saved it. Lallana injured for six weeks? No worries, just photoshop him back into the starting line up. And so on.
  17. Meh. The away kit could have done with an iron before the photoshoot, look at the puckering on the V on Yoshi and Gaston's shirts, tch! Poor show; it's one thing the club not being able to press the shirts in time, but surely they could have photoshopped them out when adding the sponsor logo?
  18. I love Ivor Cutler. Perfection. With this, and the discourse on Blake that is both surprising and enlightening, I am starting the day in a bright and positive mood. Have this in return, from Scroobius Pip (IMHO one of this country's greatest living wordsmiths). Tis short, sweet and football related;
  19. Fixed it. Pfft. Sorry, couldn't resist. I'll stop now I promise.
  20. Sorry The9, just grabbed the nearest red shirt to put the lines on. Didn't think you mind as it was for a joke on this forum! (I guess referencing the ****ty graphic that announced the Adidas deal on the OS, has been lost. Not that it was a good gag, but hey!) FYI there are a couple of shirt ideas for other teams doing the rounds that are also using your original mock up!
  21. Hehe, I do actually agree. The yellow with blue, and black with gold, 'away' versions were even worse, not worth rendering to a jpeg. But did you like the way I used an old school instagram-ish effect on it? That was the most important bit. And the 70s disco font for the sponsor. Oh and I'd wear it; but I am both sartorially inelegant and easily pleased.
  22. Aye, inconclusive studies all. The essence of my point was that such things are often acted upon by those looking for any advantage, however slight, psychological or suspect the hypothesis may be. It is true to say however, that the anthropological meanings of red, and the human response to it compared with other colours, has been debated for millennia; with empirical findings suggesting that we do indeed react quicker to red.
  23. I'm pretty sure there is a lot of (possibly pseudo) sports science and research to suggest that red is statistically a better colour to be wearing. Hang on I'm gonna look it up... ...yep, here you go. The it with a pinch of salt, but it makes an interesting read. Is it any wonder, in a culture of looking for any competitive advantage, some (particularly a chairman of a sports team that does seem to like this sort of thing) would give it go? http://www.telegraph.co.uk/science/science-news/6097954/Why-teams-in-red-win-more.html And http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-2325982/Sportsmen-wear-red-likely-winners-dressing-kill.html
  24. I must admit the project is not entirely altruistic ; there is a small but decent business opportunity there too! In addition the kids I am working with (and I mean kids this time, the youngest is 15) have got a great future in computer engineering and design, which is also incredibly rewarding and reassuring. Slight clue as to what I do there, too ;-) Baz, Have you tried a standard audio CD or just ones you have burnt yourself?
