Oh come on FF.......you can't carry on blaming Lowe for everything. He's history just like the others who got us into a big mess. I notice Tony 'you're getting your club back' Lynam is conspicuous by his absensce....if you are reading this board, thanks for costing us pre-season and making sure we start on the back foot with your Walter Mitty 15 minutes of fame. Pardew has to start earning his money....slagging the players off is not going to work. And this is no longer a 'young side'...only Lallana, James, Lancashire and Paterson were from our Academy. I am, already, starting to get worried we have a terrible, terrible manager. Hopefully very, very wrong but why play Wotton, bring Rasiak on in added time, make no subs until way too late and generally play awful tactics.....no way is Lallana a RM/LM: play him in the hole for goodness sake!
-
Why so obsessed with the Skates? In case you hadn't noticed, we could well be relegated by Xmas and Bournemouth could well go above us next season. This obsession with everything Portsmouth do/don't do is well sad.............
-
Last season we were at our best when we had Gillett and Morgan in CM.....Wotton is gash, the Chelsea nipper is completely unproven. I think it is a crying shame that Gillett is not being played. Pardew has several of his own signings now so he will not be able to moan about our poor squad for much longer......nor are we a team made of up youngsters this year either so that card cannot be played.
-
If that is really the case why is there nothing on any of the newswires/press? Surely a murder would have made front page: certainly for the Echo. Hopefully it's not true....and perhaps if it's not true MB you will stop posting utter, utter s***e as you have been prone to do for quite a while now - either very gullible or making things up for a kick.
-
some of you really ought to get a life.....it's quite sad how many are obsessed with the skates.
-
I would much rather see Morgan in the defensive midfield role than Wotton. Wotton is appalling: can't tackle, can't pass, has no pace. Some of the best football (actually the bast football) of last season was when we had Gillett and SChneiderlin in midfield. As soon as Gillett got injured we were never the same and Morgan struggled: with form and fitness. Perhaps not surprisingly as he is just starting his career and with so many youngsters this was always, with hindsight, going to be the case.
-
Dear, oh dear...... Relying on MB for information is not a good idea based on his ITK predictions over a period of months!
-
Dear oh dear Daren W......statements liek the one you made soimply make you look very, very foolish. I do wonder why some Saints fans think we are such a big club. We punched above our weight for a long time but we do not have a gloried history. In fact, we are just like Charlton in so many respects. A minority of idiots 'supporting', similar implosion following relegation and big debts. To think, Charlton were held up as a club we should look up to after we were relegated and the SOuthampton modle was one they were trying to follow whilst in the Prem! How the mighty, or not so mighty!, have fallen.

The sooner he b******s off the better. Massively overrated and a waste of time for us once he'd got his fat contract.
-
Can't understand why people think this is good news. Whilst not a world beater, nor even close to it, we will miss his pace and experience in league 1 - we're not in the Prem or CCC and I, personally think, BWP would have done well for us in this league. We're in great danger (and I was a big supporter of this failed strategy last year - the balance needs to be better) of being left with raw, promising young 'uns and 1 or 2 senior pros. All this talk of getting in 5 or 6 players now won't actually help us as they'll need to bed in, learn to play with the rest of the team, etc. and we have no guarantee they'll be any good. Quite frankly, we're down to the bare bones and not having a manager in seems quite peculiar: basically we won't have had a pre-season. makes the decision to remove Wotte immediately a bit of a strange one!
-
Might get flamed for saying this but......... I wouldn't wish the last 5 months we have had on any other club (including Pompey). A lot of Pompey supporters I have met/know are normal, decent people. Like any club (including ours) they have an element of morons who do the club, and themselves, no favours. Do believe this Arab guy is a Walter Mitty (based on what people out in the Middle East are saying) and raising any sort of finance in the UAE is a nightmare right now. This isn't to say I want Pompey to do well in the premier league....to be honest, I don't care how they do: I'm more interested in Saints.

Fantastic post Union Saint. Unfortunately, I think that it will be clubs further down the Leagues that will suffer. They cannot carry on in the current climate (look at Bournemouth, Luton, Rotheram, Darlington as primes examples: constantly in and out of Admin). The big clubs will always be able to survive (no matter the level of their debt): the sooner they f**k off to a European Super League the better. For all it's faults, the Championship just shows what a level playing field does for real competition (that will get people excited). I would almost compare it to the NFL: basically it's very open and a top team one year can be bottom the following. I can't remember the last time the Premier League was exciting and competitive.

Good luck for the future Mark - you conducted yourself with great dignity.
-
what, you mean link the corporate box they have Alpine and others? Guess what....I'm pretty sure they pay for it. How much have you paid into the club's coffers in recent years Alpine?
-
Well hopefully the Times is way off the mark. Getting Adams (Tony or Micky) in would be an unmitigated disaster as they have both shown they are crap managers. Hopefully a good and upcoming manager like Paul Tisdale: not a drama queen (and poor manager) like Keegan. Guess we'll find out soon enough...........
-
Please god, not SHearer! He only needed to get 7 points from 9 games to keep Newcastle up and he failed that! Why would he be a success down here?
-
Can't help thinking this is potentially a bad thing for a number of reasons: 1) new season is nearly upon us and we've transferred one set of uncertainties for another 2) After Wotte has acted with real dignity this appears, at first glance, to be a real stab in the back

John - all I was saying was that a select few fans do not (and cannot) speak for all fans. And whether you like it or not, that select group of fans can become star struck (look at the experiences of the unfortunate Keith Legg on Saints Forever) or be easily coerced into agreeing/talking about things that actually could be detrimental to the vast majority of fans. By all accounts, the old Supporter group evenings worked reasonably well and, though far from ideal, were probably a happy medium. Oh, and John, if your response to me was typical of the way you (as someone associated with Saints Trust) engaged with the football club, it is no wonder they did not take things seriously/want to engage.
-
John - I would say the fact he would not sidle up and have cosy chats with Supporter groups is a good thing. As the Times article at the weekend said, fans are very rarely right.... The club needs to be run as a professional business and not be here at the beck and call of supporter groups. Look where that got us before........ Good grief, you can't many people to agree things on here......and this is a tiny, tiny handful of Saints supporters.

Top bloke..... -
Chez - I believe Adam was detected as having an irregular heartbeat back in 2004 and required an operation to rectify this and so obviously could not train/play for a number of months. Could be wrong but pretty sure this was the case. In case folks have forgotten, up until he got injured last season he was a joy to watch early on in the campaign with his quick feet and obvious skill. Being young, obviously his form would dip (as it did) but unfortunately last year we did not have the luxury of giving Adam a breather. I think Adam has the potential to be something VERY special.

I've just spoken with my brother who works out in the Middle East. there may (although not certain) be some truth in what FF is saying. Apparently al Fahim (or whatever he's called) is a 'showboater' who has very little wealth himself. He made money only because he was mates with a prince and the prince put him in charge of the property business. It seems they have since fallen out and the prince has sacked him and pushed him away from Man City because he was shooting his mouth off. The way business seems to work out there, if the Prince in Abu Dhabi has 'blackballed' him, the chances of al Fahim raising funds from anyone else in Abu Dhabi is likely to be quite remote.

Give the lad a break for crying out loud. he has the potential to be a real star and is still exceedingly young and starting to make his way in the game. For all those who will say 'oh, he won't improve at his age' remember he lost a whole year with his heart trouble. The lad will be sheer class (if he works hard) and I hope this will be at Saints. I'd have Lallana over deadbeats like Stern John or Saganowski any day of the week. yet again, posters on this forum seem to be a better judge of players than Premier League scouts and clubs.

I can't understand why anyone would want Keegan if Liebherr says we will build steadily and sensibly. Keegan would want obscene amounts of money to spend and would not be here for the long term: when the going gets tough he runs for the hills.
-
If AO did indeed bring Liebherr to Saints then, quite frankly, he deserves a role. Being nice does not guarantee succes in business.......Branson, despite his public persona, is a really nasty piece of work. At least Ao won't be pandering to the fans...which can only be a good thing.
