Same here, saw it on saturday and thought it was odd then. And while Walton had a terrible game, I hate that (some of) the brighton fans are all over NSC calling him a cheat, as if he was bias for us the whole 90, when in fact he had a mare throughout. Completely ignoring the fact that we should have had two penalties by that stage anyway. And they say that the referee ruined the match as a competetive spectacle (I think it was their inability to string an attack together that did that) by awarding a pen and sending a man off, as if Taricco had been sent off for a last ditch challenge istead of being a mardy **** and getting himself stupidly sent off (which i would be more annoyed with). But no, they focus on the fact that the game should be replayed behind close doors, and that saints go down looking for penalties (protip: if you don't foul in the box every 5 minutes, you won't get so many penalty appeals against you) and grizzling that the BBC didn't show the shot they had 'Cleared off the line'. **** me , if they think that's where the line is, no wonder they can't see a foul in the area (not talking 'bout the 2nd and 3rd goals, btw).

I've supported saints only from 1995 onwards, and this is the best football that we've ever consistently played. And whilst some of our players may not be the envy of the premiership as the likes of niemi was, an interview with Geoff Hurst springs to mind, where he said that despite other teams having 11 better players than england, England had the best team in 66. Yes, as in if he isn't on form, he doesn't provide a physical presence to trouble the opposition. So if he's not on top of his game going forward in a tight match, he can't really provide a scrappy, combative edge (unlike say Cork or Chaplow) and sometimes fails to track back leaving large gaps . Which is what you sometimes need in a packed midfield, where players may be scrapping for every ball. It's not a slant against his undoubted silky skills, just pointing out that his talent is innefecual against certain styles of play. Not that difficult a concept to grasp, and no need for the insults really.

AL is in some regards, a luxury player. Not tall or big enough to provide bite in the midfield, unlike RC/JC/RH/MS/GDP, unless he is scoring or setting up assists, we are effectively playing with 10 and a half men. It's also quite insulting to the rest of the team to bang on about him coming straight back in when we go 5 points clear at the top without him. For me, Lambert is now at the top of his game, his link up and hold up play is excellent, and provides a danger from all ove rthe final third (his crossing has been remarkable at times).

It's the fact that the guy returns at the end with the exact same attitude that makes it!
