Fair result, IMO. Difficult to break through West Hams very solid defense, and they had a couple of big chances as well. Thought we played quite nice from time to time, but we struggled to create clear cut chances.

Christ on a bike, if you actually took the time to write BBC to complain about a pundits prediction, you really need to get your **** together.
-
Always liked Man. City fans for some reason.
-
As long as Cortese is in charge of the club, I believe we will progress.
-
LOL, Chelsea should definitely go back to their original one.
-
A nicer looking crest?
-
Personally, I wouldn't mind if we went back to the more modest city crest, without the halo, football and scarf. That is the original crest of the club, isn it?

I have no idea, mate, and it's never been my point that we never should sign a player aged above 27. But it seems like the clubs transfer policy is to go for younger players with a bit of potential, rather than players on the verge of decline. From a financial perspective, that is without doubt a smarter strategy IMO. And yes, I know that it sometimes is hit and miss with unproven players, but so are the case with "proven Prem quality", just look at Park and Bosingwa.

According to wiki, Flamini is on a 90k/week at Milan. This are the kind of wages I'm talking about, and I don't think Boruc or Davis are anywhere near that. I think it would be incredible stupid to spend that kind of money on a player that won't become any better or have any sell-on value, and especially if he wasn't supposed to be first choice. It's a QPR kind of business.
-
As I said before, I doubt Davis is on very high wages, also we paid peanuts for him. He was a low risk signing, IMO. Don't know about Borucs wages either, as his unemployment at the time suggests he wasn't targeted by a lot of clubs. Either way, he didn't exactly look like the signing of the season before he stepped up in december, IIRC.
-
Well, if your look at our signings last summer and in january, I think its fair to say that we are primarily looking for players that are younger than 27. While I agree we can't rely entirely on our academy, I certainly don't think signing players on big wages and little sale on value would be very smart.
-
I'm only guessing here, but I would think Flaminis wage demands would be much higher than Davis'.

We will play in blue :-(

500 000 more than what we sold Kevin Davies for in 1998. You're living in denial (and I'm not talking about the river in Egypt).
-
Wake up and smell the cappuccino, mate. No way at all are we gonna sell Morgan for 15m or less. Long term contract, lots of ability and potential, we don't need to sell, and he wants to stay her. Silly money needs to be place on the table for Cortese to even consider accepting.
-
Yes, I hope they survive, and I also hope they will get back to top level (although it's very unlikely for all foreseeable future). The derby games adds a tension and a nerve no other games in the PL has, and I get much more joy from that, than from watching a football club going bust.

Ball Street discuss Saints and Pochettino (YouTube Show)

****ty and boring "analysis". -
Linked with us on a few occasions lately. Don't think it's to likely. To old and to much wages. http://forzaitalianfootball.com/2013/04/aston-villa-and-southampton-eye-move-for-ac-milan-midfielder/?

Deserved that. Terrible mistake.
-
Honestly, I couldn't care less about the conflict he has with Benali.
-
West Brom only had 10 points at christmas time in our relegation season, but still survived.
-
I can see that was an exaggeration. Really poor is a better choice of words, and against City we were positive, but also very lucky not to get spanked.
-
At the end of the day, what we want from our chairman are sound finances and a good, progressing football team. To me, it seems like we got both. Absolutely trust Cortese.
-
Beg to differ on parts of that. Would add Everton to that list as well. Against City, I seem to remember them creating tons of big chances, while we scored on the ones we got. Agree we weren't **** against Man Utd, and didn't see the game against Spurs. My point was that I can understand why most pundits thought we would go down after the first 10 games.
-
The future looks very bright, indeed. When it comes to others writing us off, we were quite **** in more or less all of our first ten games, apart from Villa. We got a lot of positive words for how we played against City and Man. Utd, but the lack off ability to win games after taking the lead was just one of many signs of a typical relegation candidate.
