  1. Agree with Boj, I started playing keyboard at around 8 and inherited my uncle's old keyboard. Full sized keys are much easier to play with, it's only slightly awkward to play with at first, you get used to it. Also, it saves buying a keyboard with smaller keys and then when your son outgrows the keyboard having to buy a bigger one! Yamaha is very dependable for beginners instruments, they do quite a good line in keyboards too. The YPT200-K is good and quite cheap (£70 on Amazon.co.uk) but if you've got a bit more cash to spend, I recommend that you do, as the instrument will (obviously) be better quality and nicer. And if it's going to be a long term thing then it's a lot better to have a decent quality keyboard. The Casio CTK-4000 is a very good quality keyboard, loads of 'voices' to experiment with and a very nice instrument. Only downside is it's £169.99 (Amazon again) which is again, quite pricey. Another keyboard which is good quality but cheaper than the CTK-4000 is the Casio CTK-2000, which is a good £70 cheaper than the 4000 but still very good. Of course, if you're willing to blow £200+ on a keyboard, you'll be spoilt for choice, but that's probably very unneccessary for an 8 year old.. Hope I helped, any questions just reply on here.

    Stern gone!

It's official, we're completely f*cked. SJ was the one player who I feel could have dug us out of the hole we're in, his goals virtually kept us up this season. A very poor decision on behalf of whoever has shipped him out (RL I should imagine..) and now we have to face the consequences. In other news, does anyone else really want Ian Dowie to take over the manager's position at the club?
  3. KD has been by far our best player this season. Performed consistently well throughout the games so far and has only conceded that many goals because of our leaky defence. The only thing i'll say is that he needs to work on his aerial work, and with the quality of coaching we have at SMS, it oughtn't be hard to improve.
  4. So no wage budget or transfer budget? Jeez.. It's going to be a tough year
  5. Kick him out before he does too much damage. I think roughly 10 games has been more than enough time to prove himself, and he's really not done that. Fair enough, the team lacks quality and the finances are dire, but that's not an excuse for the poor tactics and selection choices. Oh, and since I can't start a thread due to my thriftyness, I reckon that Burgmeier from Darlington would be a quality signing. He's great from set pieces and can really deliver a fantastic cross. He's got some skill too, which was evident in the televised game against Bradford the other day. And because he's playing in League 2 at the moment he'd be cheap as chips. He may not be good enough to be a regular fixture in the side, but he'd be a very handy squad player to have so that we aren't reduced to playing the majority of the under 12's side when a few players get injured.
  6. From that team i'd pick: ----------Davis----------- Cork--Perry--Wotton--Mills ------Gillett--Surman------ -BWP---------------Skacel --------Lallana------------ ---------------John------- Bench: Forecast, Lancashire, James, Thomson, Pekhart I reckon 4-1 to Sheffield Utd. Not confident about this game at all. Oh, btw, how is Dyer getting on oop north?
  7. Absolutely f*cking dire. 3 things Jan needs to do: 1) Sort out the defence ffs! It's pretty obvious that this is the urgent matter. Put Skacel in at left back, or even put Surman back there, and then put Cork on the right. Perry should definately start at centre back with Wotton. 2 big bruisers at the back ought to stop a few goals from leaking in. 2) Sort out the goal drought! McGoldrick needs to be dropped for a few games. Show him that the world doesn't f*cking revolve around him and there are plenty of other options in the team who can do just as good a job (Stern John anyone!?). Stick John up there with either Skacel or Surman on the left and BWP on the right. 3) If he can't do either of the above, resign and let somebody decent manage the club. I know that I have very little voice, but i'm not going to stand by and watch these gormless idiots run the club I love into the ground. If Jan doesn't start getting results soon, he should do what's best and f*ck off back to Holland and let us get a decent manager. I absolutely detest the man, but Billy Davies sounds pretty damn good right now. An emphasis on defence would help the team a lot.
  8. Myleene Klass and Scarlett Johansson. Yes please.
  9. 3-1 to Watford. I haven't got a single ounce of confidence about the game..
  10. Watford Home Lose Sheffield United Away Lose Swansea Away Draw Coventry Home Draw Preston Away Lose Bristol City Home Win Wolves Home Shock Win! Reading Away Draw Plymouth Home Win Charlton Away Lose Realistic results imo. Watford are a very strong team with very physical players, similar to Blackpool. We will get completely buttf*cked. However, I can see us beating Bristol C and Plymouth, and possibly getting away with a win against Wolves, seeing as they seem to be dropping form.
  11. I don't know what the SFA were smoking when they appointed GB, but it must've been seriously strong stuff. I can see him being sacked as manager by January, and good riddance. It's a travesty that we nearly qualified for Euro 2008 ahead of one of the World Cup finalists, yet now we cannot even beat Norway. How times have changed. If the SFA want Scotland to be taken seriously again, then they should sack the clown Burley and appoint a real manager.
  12. For me, it's got to be WGS. Being only 16 I haven't experienced the 'glory days' that came before my time, but WGS was a fantastic manager. Charisma, a great tactician and a brilliant motivator. If we still had him now we'd definately be in the Prem and we'd be pushing for a UEFA Cup place imo. Wishful thinking though
  13. Hopefully we'll be able to offload him soon, but until then he could come in handy as a striker. Might be able to bang in a few goals and if not he could be a good physical presence in the box for corners etc.

    Glasto 2009

£175+ is pretty damn expensive for a ticket, but it's so worth it. Seen as i'm too thrifty to fork out for a full membership, what's everyone's bets for headliners? I think: Friday Main - Blur Other - Franz Ferdinand Saturday Main - Oasis Other - Depeche Mode Sunday Main - Radiohead Other - Feeder Of course they're completely unrealistic, but i'd probably decorate my pants if that was the lineup.
  17. Friday - College during day, band practice in the evening. The latter wasn't so good. Saturday - Not much during the day, watched the footy on tv, saw Saints get hammered then went out babysitting. Got some monies for it. Sunday - Went swimming with my cousins. Pool was full of mongs and inbreds. It felt like home. 7/10

    Glasto 2009

Got the deposit down, lovely stuff. Not sure if I can go though due to having exams at roughly that time, so hopefully they'll be finished by Glasto time. I truly believe that Glastonbury is a fantastic festival. You can't compare it to other festivals like Reading and V Festival, because it's just got that something really special about it. I also like being able to get into the front of the Pyramid Stage for virtually any slot by timing your arrival right. Saw some great sets from down at the front this year. Gossip, Editors, Crowded House, Amy Winehouse.. it was all good. Looking forward to Glasto 2009 immensely!
  19. I seriously thought we had a chance to pick up 3 points today, or at least a draw. How wrong I was. Davis 7 - Kept us in the match, but even with a shaky defence, conceding 4 goals isn't good. Congrats for him saving the penalty though. James 5 - We seriously need to drop this guy. Surely we have other options in the squad who can play right back? Hatch? Mills 5 - Looked quite promising but his marking was very poor, he wandered around too much and didn't keep tight on the defenders. Did look quite good going forward though. Perry 7 - A cool head in defence. Bailed out James, Mills and Lancashire repeatedly and made some very good challenges. Lancashire 6 - Showed promise, worked well with Perry and improved as the game went on, but didn't keep tight on defenders and gave away a stupid penalty that could easily have seen us lose 5-1 were it not for Davis and a spot of luck on the shoddy penalty taking. Cork 6 - Had a quiet game. Better at RB imo. Wotton 7 - A bit of physical presence in the side, finally! Looked strong in midfield and we were a lot worse when he went off. Marshalled the passing and generally bossed the midfield. A very good captain. Surman 8 MOM - A good performance. Passed very well and linked up with the rest of the midfield extremely well. Why have we been playing him at LB when he can produce performances like this in midfield? Also scored a good goal which reduced the defecit slightly.. Lallana 7 - Didn't get much of a chance to shine. Was bullied by the Cov defence and tightly marked throughout the game. We lost the midfield sparkle when he went off injured (any injury news on him btw?) McGoldrick 6 - We need to drop him to the bench just for a game or two. He's not scoring and has a seriously bad attitude. He never passes and dribbles the ball until he loses possession. I'd like to see Jamie White play up front instead of him next week while he sorts himself out. Robertson 7 - Looked good on the ball but again given very little lease to perform by the Cov defence. Doesn't work well as a lone striker. Subs: Gillett 7 - A better performance. Didn't give away possession as much as he had previously and passed the ball around well. If he can improve his passing abilities he ought to be starting in midfield. BWP 7 - Looked good out on the wing, his pace scared the defence a bit and he made some nice touches. However, he seemed a bit lost and should've got into the box a bit more. He needs to be poaching goals but you can't do that when you're standing outside the box. Pekhart 6 - Looked slightly uncomfortable on the ball but linked up well with BWP and DMG nonetheless. Ought to start. One question: Where the f*ck is Stern John?! We need him up front because we simply don't look dangerous when we attack. His goals kept us up last season, maybe he can do the same this season. Team for next match: ---------Davis------------- Cork--Perry--L'shire--Skacel ----Wotton--Gillett--------- -White---Lallana---Surman-- ----------John------------- Subs: Bart, Mills, James, BWP, DMG
  20. After another 4-1 drubbing i've come to face the facts. We WILL be relegated. We WILL go into administration. We WILL be forced to sell our best youth players (Lallana, Surman etc). We WILL be in the Conference in 5 years time. Pessimisim is the underlying message there, just in case you missed it.
  21. From the link somebody posted earlier.. Maybe we ought to let Stern John put him on an intensive course?
  22. Slightly off-topic, but quite relevant nonetheless.. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/n/nottm_forest/7649361.stm While our youth academy is undoubtedly strong, the lack of quality of our youngsters sometimes shines through. Maybe we ought to be doing as Forest are and shopping around for good youngsters from Prem sides, they shouldn't be too expensive and most should be available on frees if they're not offered first team contracts when they turn 18. Either that or we should get some decent loans in, Norwich have loaned Leroy Lita for a month who is a top class striker and Wolves have loaned Carlos Edwards who is a fantastic winger. We need more strength in this team if we want to beat teams and not just record scrappy wins against low quality teams like Doncaster.
  23. I see..but i'm playing you twice in a row! That kinda sucks. Although i'll definately be going all out to beat you next time!
  24. Skacel to come on for a lacklustre DMG at half time and score twelve hat-tricks. You heard it here first.
  25. BUMP I hate you IOWSF! How come i'm scheduled to be playing you next as well? Thought the season finished today..
