Les Indigènes (Days of Glory) - 2007 French film about Algerian soldiers fighting to liberate France in World War II. Very powerful, very moving and very well directed. Much like Saving Private Ryan, but with less gore, so it may be easier to watch for squeamish people than the aforementioned. Starring: Jamel Debbouze, Samy Naceri, Samy Bouajila and Roschdy Zem. 8/10

Coxon still played on Think Tank though. Hopefully they will play Glasto, one of my favourite bands and I was too young to experience them at their height of fame in the mid to late 90's. Hopefully their performance won't turn out to be disappointing though.. Get Guillemots on the bill for Glasto too, they didn't play any festivals even with their new album out a month or two before the festivals were on. Fantastic live band.

Went on a bit of a birthday spending spree and bought some new albums: Biffy Clyro - The Vertigo of Bliss 7/10 Second album from the Scots, not their best but certainly a good album nonetheless. Bit more 'screamy' than the Puzzle stuff and some quite heavy riffs. Best Song: Toys, Toys, Toys, Choke, Toys, Toys, Toys Biffy Clyro - Blackened Sky 8/10 The band's first album. This album has got some of the band's best work ('57', 'Justboy' and 'Stress on the Sky' to name a few) on it, and some really good songs in between. Recommend you buy it. Best Song: 57 Biffy Clyro - Infinity Land 9/10 Rounding off my Biffy Clyro spending spree is this album. Their third album has got some really great songs on it, such as 'There's No Such Thing As A Jaggy Snake', 'Glitter & Trauma' and 'My Recovery Injection'. Really recommend this album too, it's a must have imo. Best Song: Glitter & Trauma Hot Club de Paris - Drop It Till It Pops 8/10 Frantic barbershop indie rock from Sunderland. Some great songs on here, not only a really great and quite innovative band but also fantastic live. The album loses pace a bit towards the middle, but it picks up towards the end and makes up for the dreary 'Snitches Get Stitches' and equally dreary 'Hello, I Wrote A Song For You Called "Welcome To The Jungle"'. Best Song: Sometimesitsbetternottostickbitsofeachotherineachotherforeachother Johnny Flynn & The Sussex Wit - A Larum 9/10 I fell in love with this band when I heard the demo of 'Tickle Me Pink' about a year and a half ago. I've waited with baited breath for the album and i'm not disappointed. The album is so charming, catchy and toe-tappingly brilliant. 'The Box' is a fantastic song and the aforementioned 'Tickle Me Pink' is magical. Awesome album, definately buy this! For fans of Laura Marling especially. Best Song: Tickle Me Pink Do let me know if anyone's taken my recommendations. Mind you, these are quite well known albums, so people have probably got them already.

Best XII out of our team (including injured/on loan players) -------------Davis-------------- Thomas--Perry--Pearce--Surman ---------Cork---Morgan--------- Lallana-------------------Holmes ---------Saga--John------------ Subs: Bart, Svensson, Skacel, BWP, DMG I'd love it if we were putting out a team like this in January (permitting the renewal of Cork and Pearce's loans and the expiry of Saga and John's). I think that, with a team like this, we could achieve a mid-table (10th-16th) position at the end of the season. The defence looks good to me, i'd prefer to play Surman at left-back because of the attacking capabilities he has, and Skacel has looked a little vulnerable at left back and I feel should be playing in a more attacking position. Perry and Pearce have looked like a good partnership when they've played together in the centre, and Thomas is a strong defender with good leadership qualities who could help sturdy the defence. I feel that Cork and Schneiderlin would work well in the middle of midfield together, playing off each other. They both seem to be quite creative too, and as they can also both play as centre backs, they ought to be a good first line of defence against attacks. Holmes really impressed me with his form at the start of the season, he seemed like a really bright prospect and hopefully he can carry on that form when he comes back in around 2 weeks' (according to the OS) time. Lallana, who I feel works better as a central attacking midfielder, would play on the right wing as he has to be a dead cert in the starting lineup. Saga and John up front then. Saga doesn't have the best goalscoring record, but he was quite a creative force last season, laying on quite a few goals for SJ and others. His work rate is very good, which I think should get him a place in the team, as lazy strikers (McGoldrick anyone?) aren't generally beneficial to a team. SJ's goals kept us up last season, and although he hasn't played much at all this season, his loan to Bristol City (providing he plays a bit more often) could help him regain his goalscoring form. That team is, of course, a 'dream team'. That team will probably never be played this season, because of astronomical appearance fees etc. and Saga will probably be shipped off on loan again when his loan to Aalborg expires. But I can always dream can't I?

I have to say I agree. KE are class, My Curse is a great song.

The Killers - Day & Age Guns N Roses - Chinese Democracy Day & Age is like the lovechild of Hot Fuss and Sam's Town, retaining the deep lyrical side of the latter and injecting a bit of the hot-blooded funk of the former (especially in opener Losing Touch). The combination is pretty damn good I have to say, it's an instantly likeable album but it's not vapid-pop as I had worried it would be after listening to first single Human (which has actually really grown on me). Really like this album. 8/10 Chinese Democracy however is a whole different ball game. It differs quite a lot from the older GNR stuff, which is good as the band need to appeal to a different audience now that music has moved on a bit. At first listen it sounds remarkably similar to the music that Velvet Revolver (the band that the rest of the former members of GNR went on to form when the band split) makes. The songs themselves aren't too great tbh, it's kind of an average album really. I have a feeling that this might be an album that people have differing views on, and i'm in the camp that thinks it's a bit crap really. Disappointing. 5/10

Weren't the FA going install Hawk-Eye technology into goalframes to help determine whether the ball has crossed the line or not and then pulled the plug at the last minute? I also heard that they were going to replace the plan by playing another official behind the goal. Personally I think that video-refereeing works extremely well and can definately help football progress as a sport.

The BNP f*cking disgust me. One of the things that I detest about this country is that the party even exists, let alone has members. I'm sickened by the fact that there are no less than 30 members of the BNP within 6 and a half miles of where I live, there's a member who lives 191 yards from me and another member just round the corner from me. F*cking scumbags the lot of them. Ought to use the list to deport the whole lot of them to countries ridden with poverty, then they'll see why people come over here to live. Tossers.

The Fat Controller, i'd prefer to keep Saga rather than cash him in for another youngster. Rasiak is a great player and reliable, but he's expensive and injury prone and doesn't often create goals either for himself or the team. John is also presumably quite expensive, and although his goals kept us up last season, I think his lack of work ethic could hinder the team. So that leaves us with Saga, who impressed us all in his first season here and racked up an impressive goal tally (10 in 13 wasn't it?). He had a poor season last season, but he showed at the end of last season that he can score goals, like his bundled goal against Sheffield. I feel that, partnered with someone who can play off him (McGoldrick? Patterson?) he could be very beneficial to the team, and goals is certainly where we're lacking. If he was given a promise of first team football week in, week out, i'm sure he'd agree to take a reasonable pay cut and sign a longer contract for stability. So, with Rasiak and John gone (and maybe £1.2m-£1.5m in the kitty from their transfers?) i'd sign Alex Pearce up too. He's a great prospect. Strong, good in the air and would work very well alongside Perry. He attacks the ball from a corner, which is what our players fail to do! 2 goals in 3/4 games isn't a bad return from a central defender! He's only 19 or 20 as well, so he wouldn't be an old head in the side, which would give him time to improve and further his game, which i'm sure Perry could help him with. I feel that Cork would be too expensive for us, i'm sure Chelsea would command quite a high fee for him, and if he continues to do well for us up until his loan expires, he could well be off to a smaller Prem club at the end of the season such as Wigan or Sunderland, who seem to build teams on younger players. The others (Smith, Robertson, Gasmi and Pekhart) haven't really shown enough to merit a transfer, although tbf Gasmi hasn't played yet and Smith hasn't had many games either. With most of our wingers probably going in January (Lallana, Surman, Skacel, Dyer?) players such as Gasmi and Smith could be very useful to us unless we bring in some more players in the transfer window.

F*CKING YESSSSSSSS! I'm bummed that I didn't go now!

WT was rubbish last season, very prone to making errors. However, he really impressed me when I saw him play against Basingstoke in pre-season. He kept the defence together and supported the younger players in the side (Jeffrey Imudia especially) who lacked confidence but grew in confidence and got better as the game went on mainly thanks to his praise and control. I'd play him alongside Pearce (or Perry if Pearce leaves permanently in January) when he's fit, because I don't think Killer will ever get back to the level of fitness where he could play week in, week out. As much as i'd like to see him back at the center of our defence, I just think that his time is up. Good news is though, that Wayne could be the man to step into his shoes. He's certainly experienced enough to be captain and he'd be first choice center back for me any day. Him alongside Pearce would work especially well imo.

I haven't played the full version, but the demo is sh*t. The money could be better spent down at the pub tbh.
-
I went to see Switch Transmission and MMT, it was worth the £5 that I spent. However, maybe I ought to think of a refund. Tiggs, can you hook that up for me?
-
Mmmm..they were kinda sh*t tbh. Left about halfway through!

SAGITTARIUS You are the romantic type, soft-hearted and a lover of the arts. You are likely to import Dutch pornography and sex toys. You thrive on incest. The first bit was accurate..not so much the second bit. The third bit really hit the metaphorical nail on the head though.

www.myspace.com/magicmonkeytheory A couple of my mates are in this band, they're supporting Flamboyant Bella at Joiners on the 11th of December. They played there in early November with Dekolta and Switch Transmission and the people who run the place liked them so much they offered them a slot with Flamboyant Bella plus a support slot of their choice for any band that's playing at Joiners in the forseeable future! That's pretty kick arse tbh.

I'd give anything to have the Svensson/Lundekvam partnership of yesteryear back However, I think we should play Wotton alongside Perry on Saturday. A bit of a slow lumpy pairing, but they ought to stop Reading's strikers (who are a bit flimsy according to my Reading supporting friends) with enough physical presence to be able to deal with set pieces. Cork--Wotton--Perry--Skacel Although nowhere near the best back four we can put out, it ought to be enough. We need to be solid in midfield and not give away possession which could put our defence under pressure. We need to keep the shape of the defence and not let defenders wander away which leaves gaps for their strikers to move into. And above all, we need to play with confidence. COYR!
