  1. Might be a while before Theo is playing in the Isthmian League. Give it 30 years.
  2. Met Murty in Tesco in Hook quite a few times, nice chap and always happy to have a chat. Would be a fantastic player for us in L1 but I can't see him coming here.
  3. Kepa - ST Fernando Soriano - D/MRC Arzu - CB All three are transfer listed at the start of the game and are available for around £2m each. Kepa scores bucketloads, Soriano is an absolute beast in midfield and Arzu is a good CCC CB, but plays better at DM at Prem level. Those three alone won me the CCC when I played with QPR.
  4. Hey, what about Groundhog Day? It's relevant because the same thing seems to be happening over and over again.
  5. I already mentioned him, good solution to our LB dilemma.
  6. Really don't think we'd have any chance of attracting Coppell here. I think he'll either retire (the most likely option in my opinion) or go to a Prem club, could see him at Newcastle if they stay up. But really there is very little chance he'd come here. I'd prefer to appoint someone with a bit more youth and drive on his side, someone like Tisdale or perhaps Ince, seeing as he has experience at L1 level. Names which have been bandied about a lot, but realistic candidates imo.
  7. BUMP Couldn't find any other threads relevant to this, and this was the closest subject topic there was to my question (and being just a humble registered user I couldn't start my own thread...boohoo). So, i'm a 1st Year Sixth Form student, and i'm looking at Uni courses, and one that has struck me is a course at Edinburgh University. I was just wondering if anyone is/was at Edinburgh Uni and could tell me what it was like there, and also what the city is like in terms of nightlife. I've been to Edinburgh plenty of times and know the area quite well, but never really been 'out' in the city, so want to make sure there's quite a lot of good stuff to do seeing as i'll be a student, sitting on my arse in my bedsit all day. Cheers me dears.
  8. I have quite a few mates who are Reading 'fans'. Oh, the torture they will have to endure for the next couple of weeks..
  9. 14 players released by Brighton today - among them Chris Birchall (AMR) and Jason Jarrett (CM). Both CDDAJFU! Would love to see Jarrett here especially, he's never really settled at a club but is a consistent player and would do well in our midfield. Birchall might be a good L1 level replacement for Dyer as well, seeing as he's as good as gone.
  10. You're welcome to Rasiak, McGoldrick I would like to keep. Could be a good player for us in League 1, probably not so good for you lot in the CCC. But he would work well with Earnshaw to do all the work for him up front, even though he couldn't finish a sandwich.
  11. Reckon I could do one? Would be fun imo, and gives you all a chance to slag me off via my music taste.
  12. Pardon me, I meant Millwall. They played a good passing game and rightly got the 3 points out of it, while Leeds hoofed the ball up towards Beckford and hoped for the best. I don't like not having an edit button on my posts
  13. If you really want to see what L1 football is like, watch the end of the Leeds vs Millwall game on Sky Sports 1 now. Seems to be very physical, but Leeds seem to have done well with their sexy football this season, so maybe it's not all hoofball.
  14. Just to add to the list of Ipswich players, Matt Richards has not yet been offered a new contract and his runs out soon. IIRC he's quite a versatile left sided player, can play at LB or LM. Could be the type of player we need next season, and potentially the solution to our LB problem.
  15. I'm no Lowe luvvie, but obviously the board thought that we would be able to escape the -10 point deduction. But in retrospect, if there was a chance, why did they not just go in before the deadline? Stupendously stupid.
  16. Has Skacel signed yet?
  17. PHCDAJFU Goalies (if KD leaves, Bart leaves etc) Tom Heaton - Man Utd Darren Ward - Sunderland Defenders Danny Butterfield - RB (Crystal Palace) Phil Ifil - RB (Colchester?) Zesh Rehman - RB/CB (QPR) Sam Sodje - RB/CB (Reading?) Charlie Mulgrew - LB (Aberdeen) Gary Borrowdale - LB (Coventry?) Midfielders Matt Oakley - CM (Leicester) David Prutton - CM (Leeds) Steven McGarry - AMR/ST (Motherwell) Darren Smith - AMR/ST (Motherwell) Stephen Quinn - AML/CM (Sheff Utd) Strikers Lee Trundle - Bristol City Dele Adebola - Bristol City Colin Samuel - St Johnstone Dean Shiels - Hibernian Danny Haynes - Ipswich The ones in bold are the ones who I think CDDAJFU. Some of them may be a tad unrealistic, but are the type of players I think we should be aiming for.
  18. Ah wait, he's out of contract isn't he? Heard on here that he had taken a rather substantial paycut in order to knock a year off his contract. If so, then he's off for free, but I reckon we could get a fee (not an entirely large one, around 250k-500k) if he has still got a contract left to run at SMS.
  19. The 2008/9 Squad 1. Kelvin Davis - Would love him to stay, but can't see it. Will go to a CCC or Prem club perhaps. 2. Chris Perry - Solid, but getting on a bit and ought to leave after his 1 year extension is up. 3. Wayne Thomas - CDAJFU, L1 would be his level if he can stay fit and injury free. 4. Marek Saganowski - Wants to leave, too expensive and inconsistent. G'bye. 5. Jan Paul Saeijs - Could potentially be excellent at L1 level, but wages and a fee could be a trouble, but would love him to stay. 6. Michael Svensson - Hope his contract is on a pay-as-you-play basis, otherwise he should seriously look at coaching, as fitness doesn't seem to be something he can maintain. 7. Rudi Skacel - Wants to go, we could get a decent fee for him and he's on relatively high wages. Off you pop. 8. Bradley Wright-Phillips - Could be a good player for us in L1 if he can sign a new contract with a large pay cut. 9. Gzregorz Rasiak - Looks like he's off. High wages, thinks he's a prem player and a bit injury prone. See ya. 10. Paul Wotton - If he stays fit, could be a great leader for us in L1. Bit of steel in the team. 11. Andrew Surman - As a Saints fan i'm sure he'd love to help us out, but this season hasn't been his best and he's attracted interest from Prem and CCC clubs, so really can't see him staying. 12. Lee Holmes - Looked good when he played this season, but spent a lot of time injured and that could be a hinderance. 13. Bart Bialkowski - Keep him, if Davis leaves he would be No.1 keeper 14. Stern John - Too expensive and out of contract. 15. Jason Euell - Out of contract (?) and probably too expensive. Otherwise, would like to keep him if he can agree some cheaper terms. 16. Romain Gasmi - Didn't see him play, but apparently he was sh*t. So bye. 17. David McGoldrick - If we can keep him he'll be good in L1. Showed some of his potential in the last few games, a few seasons at that level could help him find his confidence and goalscoring touch. 18. - 19. Morgan Schneiderlin - Doesn't seem to have merited his £1.2m fee, but with reported interest from Arsenal we could make a few bob from him (although I doubt Arsenal would want him after his poor performances) 20. Adam Lallana - Great potential but with interest from Fulham he could be on his way. 21. Jamie Hatch - Potential is there, doesn't seem to be ready for the first team yet though. Loan him to Bournemouth for the season with a recall clause. 22. Simon Gillett - Would like to keep him, showed some great spirit and would be good at L1 level. 23. Lloyd James - Definately try to keep him, he had a good season while the rest of the team performed poorly. If we can get a natural RB in I would like to see him play in midfield alongside someone like Wotton. 24. Oliver Lancashire - Potential, but not ready yet. Loan him to a smaller club or keep him as a backup. 25. 26. Jake Thomson - Would like to see him more involved with the first team next season, showed glimpses of promise and could be a good replacement for Dyer who will almost certainly go elsewhere.
  20. Los Campesinos! - Hold On Now, Youngster
  21. For anyone that doesn't know: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WGoi1MSGu64&feature=related Those are my personal faves
  22. Oh, so is it the second series being aired on BBC4 and not a re-run of the first? Hope it's the first one because i've only ever seen a few episodes. Pretty dang hilarious though
  23. Shame, he worked so hard for so long on returning to fitness but it never really paid off. I still believe that he's one of the best defenders ever to wear the shirt. Hope he stays at the club, he's got a lot of experience to pass on to the youngsters that they will certainly need next season.
