  1. New Arctic Monkeys album 'Humbug' leaked today onto the internet - I suggest downloading it quickly before it disappears! On first listen it's quite good, I shall report back properly after a good listen through.
  2. TMS probably isn't the best place to post this tbh Hamster. My advice: Chloroform.
  3. There are some very good players available on frees if you know where to look. If you load all French players there are plenty of clubs in France with players on amateur contracts. 3 in 5 won't come to you, but there are still some quality players there that can DAGJFY in lower leagues! Some of the best players are Patrick Vaz, Yves Poulard, Mickael Maurice, Fabrice Mosa, Arnaud Ribas and Pape Seydou Diop (the brother of Papa Bouba). Those players will guarantee you automatic promotion. Use an attacking formation and tactic with wingers that can provide good service for your strikers. Play a quick game with either direct or short passing, it doesn't matter, because the teams in the lowest leagues can't cope with the speed of your game! Get some physically fit players in your team, pacy wingers and strong defenders work especially well. Get some strikers that can finish well too, because there are usually lots of chances created with this tactic, so you'll need someone to put them away. As the screeny shows above, i've got a GD of +37 after 20 games because i've got two strikers with decent composure and finishing. Also, loans! I've got Charlton as a parent club, get Darren Randolph on loan for goalie and Stuart Fleetwood too. Unfortunately for me, Fleetwood broke his leg in a pre-season friendly, so I sent him back and my strikers are doing well in his place. Good luck
  4. Just started a new game with AFC Wimbledon, i'm well chuffed with how we've started! I've not even cheated either. (You might need to zoom in on the picture to see properly)
  5. Still another year away, but i'd pick: GK Chris Kirkland Paul Robinson Ben Foster DEF Micah Richards Glen Johnson Ashley Cole Joleon Lescott Rio Ferdinand John Terry Phil Jagielka Michael Mancienne MID Ashley Young Theo Walcott Stewart Downing Steven Gerrard Frank Lampard Michael Carrick Gareth Barry Joe Cole FWD Wayne Rooney Michael Owen Jermaine Defoe Peter Crouch
  6. Watchmen Was a big fan of the graphic novel, so I was interested to see how this translated to the big screen. I was pleasantly surprised, while the film wasn't quite what I would've liked, it was still enjoyable and a good film to watch. It more than merits its 18 certificate though, so if you don't like rather graphic violence (and I mean GRAPHIC!) you'd best stay away. Jackie Earle Haley was great as Rorschach, and his portrayal was almost exactly how I pictured him from reading the comic. Synder's directing could be called into doubt at some points (notably the slightly ill-fitting soundtrack) but his trademark slo-mo wasn't used in the same frequency as it was in 300, so that was fine. Shame about no giant squid though 8.5/10
  7. I don't really know, or care, as long as we have a decent team in place before the Millwall game I will be happy. I am worried about the lack of signings, both in the playing and coaching staff. With the club running virtually on AP and a handful of coaches, I think our pre-season has been seriously harmed, not to mention the effect that the Pinnacle fiasco had on the club. However, as a lifelong Saints fan, i'd like to see 3 signings tomorrow please!
  8. Holy f*ck, I am stupid.
  9. Rory - St Johnstone to win the SPL? I'm a Saints fan (the blue ones) too and I think that we'd do well to stay up this season, not strenghtened the squad enough. Although Derek McInnes is a good manager, whether he's a miracle worker too is up for debate! My bets: Liverpool - 11/4 Newcastle - 6/1 Leeds - 2/1 Port Vale - 33/1 Celtic - 5/6 (Odds from Stan James)
  10. Agree about the penalty, at the time I was resigned to it because we'd been flirting with conceding a penalty all afternoon, but watching it back I think it was a little harsh. Heavy pressure is all, the player didn't go down, no shirt tugging, no protests from the victim... Maybe it was the straw that broke the proverbial camel's back?
  11. My bad then, the dugout was obscured from where I was sitting. No sign of him at the warm up though, hopefully he was on the phone trying to sign some bloody players!
  12. Not too sure about those photos Trousers, there's one of AP in there who wasn't even at the game as far as I could see!
  13. Just back from the game myself, bit of a bore tbh, but worth going to gauge some of the squad we have in reserve. Very young squad, played a 4-4-2 with Thomson and Gobern on the wings who looked good. Our defending was awful though, Saville had a bit of trouble with ex-Yeovil striker Kezie Ibe but Lancashire looked surprisingly solid at the back. Molyneux is rubbish at free kicks, as is Schneiderlin. Tafazoli gave away a sloppy penalty for holding back a player, then some more poor defending gave Farnborough a great chance which they took. Thomson's goal was brilliant though, very Beckham-esque. Keeper on the edge of his area marshalling the defence, Thomson picks up the ball just in front of the half way line and lobs him with precision. Worth the £5 I paid just for that! (Trousers, you got ripped off paying £7!) Bialkowski 6 - Looked solid, defence didn't pay any notice to him though. Argent 5 - Shocking challenge in 2nd half, lucky not to get sent off. Molyneux 5 - Bad marking gave the F'boro wingers some good chances, poor free kicks Lancashire © 6 - Not bad, seems to have improved on last season. Not very vocal for a captain though. Saville 4 - Pretty poor, strikers gave him a lot of trouble. Pulis 5 - Not very involved in the game, made a couple of passes (mostly sloppy and intercepted ones though) Schneiderlin 7 - Looked a lot better than last season, made a great sliding tackle and some good diagonal passing. Thomson 7 (MMotM) - Under-used on the wing but looked good when he had the ball. Decent crosses and quite pacy, although he didn't get much support. Gobern 6 - Bit quiet, came inside a lot and seemed to be a lot more comfortable in the middle of the park. Saganowski 6 - Quiet, marked closely all game, aerial service didn't compliment him and he didn't chase the ball as much as he should've done. White 5 - Bullied by the defenders, too lightweight, this could prove a problem if he wants to be playing for us in L1 with some of the brutes in the league. Subs: Tafazoli - Rubbish Keegan - Rubbish Boyle - Rubbish Scott - Rubbish McNish - Looked quite good.
  14. Anyone got any team news for tonight? FarnboroughFC, what sort of side are you going to be putting out too? I'm at the college just up the road so this is your chance to persuade me to leave this sorry lot and support you! It doesn't say Saints XI on the site, so hopefully we'll see quite a few first teamers running out there. For those worried about the walk, it's not that long really, about 20 minutes at most.
  15. Anyone know what ticket details are? I'm guessing it's pay-on-gate, and I can't see anything about prices on the site. Cheers guys!
  16. Okay, Inter seems to be taken, so i've applied for Lyon. Name is Michael Macdonald.
  17. Inter for me please!
  18. Perhaps this transfer deal may have deducted slightly from my argument, but I think he's underrated. He is consistent at league level, and the only reason that he doesn't impress at international level is because he is by far the best player in the team, and some players (ie Michael Owen) say that they play best when they're surrounded by quality, which is why Eto'o (who I think is quite overrated) did so well at Barca last season. Zlatan will prove his doubters wrong by scoring 25 goals this season, mark my words.
  19. People slate Jermaine Wright, but I think that he regularly produces performances much better than some of the crap our team were producing last season. Give him a pay-as-you-play contract here and i'm sure he'll prove his doubters wrong.
  20. Great to hear about John being offered a contract, he could be absolutely vital this season in keeping our promotion bid going. Shame about Saga and Rasiak going, but neither of their hearts were in it anymore, so might as well get rid. On another note, anyone got any news about Ode Thompson, that Nigerian/Belgian triallist who we took in? Didn't hear a thing about what the outcome of that was.
  21. This is teh lounge ffs.
  22. Club, definately. I don't really care about international games, would much rather see Saints win than Scotland (although it'd be nice to see both win for a change..)
  23. According to his Facebook, he's just been sentenced for 3-4 months in jail, going in tomorrow. If you see him, tell him to not drop the soap in the shower.
  24. Fill up a big pan/bucket with water, just when you're about to press the flush button, tip the water in the toilet. Works a treat.
  25. Didn't Therry Racon score that 'wonder goal' against us at SMS last season? Well, I thought it was pretty good anyway...sign him up! Dickson is an interesting one, couldn't get a game at Charlton but scored plenty on loan at Gillingham......sign him up! Max Gradel is a player that I vaguely know, mostly from Football Manager. He's a bit Nathan Dyer-like, very quick and good on the ball, but could be given a bit of trouble by the L1 bruisers. However.....sign him up! Lee Hendrie would be solid for us in the middle of the park, definately sign him up. Leon McKenzie...i'm not so sure. Hasn't really made that much of an impression on me when i've seen him play, but his versatility could prove to be useful as long as he's on sensible wages. Sign him up! Think Saga could be making a mistake by going to Blackpool though, he'll never get the level of football he wants up there. Would be better off either going back to Poland or wherever he was linked to or staying with us imo.
