Reading the BBC Premiership transfer guide (http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_prem/8433692.stm), it seems that there might be some good bargains to snap up from clubs. Brian Easton from Burnley is going to be allowed to go, and I think he would be great. He's versatile in the defence (plays centre back but can also play left back), strong, good in the air and he's only 20 or 21. Burnley got him from Hamilton in the summer, who had 3 great youngsters starring in their squad, who were James McCarthy, Brian Easton and James McArthur. I think any three of those are realistic and good targets, and although McCarthy is now at Wigan, he's only played 1 game so far so he could be willing to come on loan until the end of the season. McCarthy and McArthur are midfielders, McCarthy with a bit more flair and creativity and McArthur a bit more steely and in the Hammond mould. Wolves are also prepared to let Greg Halford go, I think he would make a fantastic signing as well. He's the epitome of versatility, he can literally play anywhere on the pitch. He's been linked with Sheffield United, but I reckon we could poach him if we put a bit of cash behind the deal. I've also mentioned this guy's name before, but I think Andy Jackson from St Johnstone would also be a fantastic signing. St Johnstone are my second team, and whenever I see them play and Jacko is playing, he changes the team completely. He's very skilful, and is a player in the mould of David Connolly. Although he had problems with injuries last season, I think he'd be a great addition to the squad, and would probably be relatively cheap as well. David Templeton and Eggert Jonsson from Hearts would also both be great signings. Templeton is 20 and Jonsson is 21, and both of them have impressed so far this season. Templeton is a really tricky striker, with electric pace and good technique, and Jonsson is a versatile centre back, defensive midfielder and full back on either side. Hearts may be reluctant to let them go, but i'm sure we could prise them away, or perhaps promise some of our youngsters a seasons loan up there. I also think Gary Glen from Hearts would be a great signing. He's a young striker (18 or 19 I think) who's just broken into the first team this season. I think he's got vast potential, and he's one of the most intelligent footballers in Scotland at the moment, his movement on the pitch is quality. Maybe we should take him on loan until the end of the season with an option to buy, because I think he'd be a quality signing but i'm wondering whether he could perhaps cope with the physical aspect of this league, because he's just a wee lad! Craig Thomson is also another Hearts youngster we should look at. He's an 18 year old right back who's just broken in to the first team and has already won a lot of praise, including an SPL Young Player of the Month trophy. He's also a set piece specialist, and he is supposedly brilliant at taking free kicks and corners and is a brilliant crosser of the ball. I think this is what we've been lacking in the side, and we certainly need someone who can take a decent corner. He also scored 12 goals in the U19 side last season for Hearts, which is pretty impressive from RB, and 10 of them were from set pieces! I think Thommo would be an amazing signing for us, and i've got half a mind to phone AP up and tell him to send a scout up there to take a look at him. Well, that's my 2 cents anyway. Basically all the players I suggested are from the Scottish leagues, but I think that the SPL is the closest to L1 in terms of player quality and style of play, so i'm sure these players could make an impact. I'd be happy if we signed any of these players, and i'm sure they probably wouldn't break the bank too much either. Value for money! Sign them up AP! I think I went a bit overboard on this post!

Very winnable imo, put a strong team out and really take 'em to town. Home advantage as well! COYR!

Well, I didn't go to the game, so I can't disagree with you, but what I gleamed from the commentary was that he made a couple of rash tackles and should've been carded. Maybe that was biased commentary, or maybe it was my own personal opinion. I still don't think he's good enough though, and I would've much preferred to see a semi-fit Connolly on the bench to come on for the last 10-15 minutes or Saga.
-
Patterson sounded awful when he came on, running around like a headless chicken and making rash challenges. I thought he seemed like a good prospect, but now I really do think his future lies elsewhere. Bye bye!

Too true, I think Islam4Uk just want to cause a bit of unrest in our society. Now, i'm not racist, and I do not tolerate racism in the slightest, but I really do think that some members of that group are just deluded. They go on about how British troops are killing their 'brothers', yet they're not out there fighting to protect them, instead they're sitting here in the UK living nice, comfortable lives. I just hope the OB have enough sense to shut the march down before something really kicks off and a very serious issue is brought up in our society.

Bloody nervy, Luton really took the game to us in the second half and it really sounded like we just couldn't be arsed. I think a new face to freshen things up within the next couple of days is needed.
-
Spot on. Very few players can come straight out of the youth team or reserves and make an instant impact on the team and become key players in the way that players such as Shearer, Walcott and Bale did, amongst others. Lancashire was dropped fully in the poo last season, and that's enough to wreck anyone's confidence. If you hadn't noticed Alpine, the whole of our team last season was pretty rubbish, and it would be unfair to exclude players to put in the 'uber rubbish' category. I think OL would suffice as a backup centre back, bearing in mind we still have Jaidi, Perry and Thomas, as well as Wotton who can fill in at CB if needed, and also the entire January transfer window to strengthen. People need to stop filling their nappies over such a minute thing as a loan being recalled, and focus on the bigger picture.

Don't think they'll care if he's 'out' or not in prison
-
Forest spent a lot of money at the start of the season, and I expect that they'd keep the money flowing in the January window. They also seem to have a lot of strikers (off the top of my head, Tyson, DMG, Blackstock, Earnshaw, Adebola and Garner), so I reckon a reasonable bid for Tyson would tempt them. He's just the kind of player that we need playing off Rickie actually, he's pacy, got a good touch and his off the ball movement is great. He could be very good for us in L1. He did just sign a new deal in January until 2011, but i'm sure we could probably tempt him with a nice pay packet.

About #14. There were a lot of albums I could've easily put on there, but the top 10 are my most favourite favourites of 2000-2009
-
Similar idea to the Best Albums of 2009 fred. What are your top albums of the decade? My top ten was hard to create, but I think i've finally made a list that I don't have any issues with.. 1) Arcade Fire - Funeral (2004) 2) Radiohead - In Rainbows (2007) 3) The Libertines - Up The Bracket (2002) 4) Biffy Clyro - Puzzle (2007) 5) Rammstein - Mutter (2001) 6) The Strokes - Is This It? (2001) 7) Babyshambles - Down In Albion (2005) 8} Arctic Monkeys - Whatever People Say I Am... (2006) 9) The Maccabees - Colour It In (2007) 10) Kasabian - West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum (2009)

Odd, I could've sworn I read it in the Mirror but there's nothing I can find about it now. Oh well.
-
Mirror reported that he had his contract terminated with immediate effect by WGS the other day, and he's now on a free.

Megson has taken Bolton down from the top half side that they were under Big Sam and turned them into bottom half strugglers. He's tactically inept, no charisma, no personality and his players don't seem to have a shred of motivation left in them. I think they've been punching above their weight since Big Sam left, and unless they get a good manager in with a good premiership pedigree (i'm thinking David O'Leary), they'll find themselves a couple of divisions down before they know it. Here's hoping they appoint a new manager quickly before Wigley can do too much damage to their team though!

Pericard is absolutely gash. My gran is faster than him, and she's 74. I still remember watching him against Charlton last season. We were on the attack, he receives the ball, the defender comes in to challenge him, he goes down like he's been shot, the Charlton defenders pick up the ball and launch a counter attack which they nearly scored from while he's still down on the ground. He's f*cking useless. Carlisle are welcome to him as far as i'm concerned. P*mpey fans on that blog on the BBC Sport page keep going on about how superb he was in their CCC promotion season. I don't think 9 goals in 32 appearances is a fantastic return for a striker, considering Lallana has 12 from midfield, and Rickie Lambert has double Pericard's tally in 23 appearances. Pericard might be on a free transfer, but that doesn't make him any less awful. Jeremie Aliadiere is on a free as well, and he's 10x the player that Pericard is.

Heard from a Reading fan I know who is 'connected' at the club that they're in discussions with Alan Irvine, hence why he was sacked from Preston, like Ferguson was at P'boro earlier this season. Could be a decent appointment, Preston did well last season and maybe AI can turn Reading around..

Died at his home this morning from natural causes. Natural causes at 28 though? Anyway, RIP to one of the best drummers in recent times, you will be missed.
-
Looking forward to this so much - hope it lives up to expectations. I still maintain that no TV will ever top BoB, and I can only hope that The Pacific is anywhere near as good. Right, i'm going to watch the BoB box set now!

Good to see Holmes on the bench, would like to see him get a run out. I still firmly believe that he's a good player and deserves to at least be on the bench more often. He's probably on there as a precaution for Lallana though, seeing as he's just had a dead leg an' all. ---------------------Bart---------------------- -----Thomas--Trotman--Jaidi--Harding---------- Antonio--James--Schneiderlin--Hammond--Lallana -------------------Lambert---------------------

3-1 to the Super Saints!

Barnard would be great, but I originally posted that list on the Leeds match thread to show players like Beckford who we could get minus his attitude, wages and hefty transfer fee. And I reckon we could prise Easter away from MK Dons. We got Lambert from Bristol Rovers and Hammond from Colchester didn't we? He's not brilliant, but he would be good in this league. His finishing isn't the greatest, but his pace would tear up the slow defences, and he's built like a brick sh*thouse as well for a striker, so he wouldn't snap like a twiglet if he's on the receiving end of a nasty challenge. No harm on getting him in on loan until the end of the season to give us a few more options in attack. That's definitely the department we need to strengthen, because although RB and CB need strengthening too, we have relatively good cover for those positions. We don't really have that luxury for strikers. If Lambert or Connolly or both were to be injured, we'd be completely screwed. If James were to sustain an injury that would keep him out for a couple of weeks, we'd have Wayne Thomas to fill in at RB, or a fit Graeme Murty (but i'm not sure he'll ever be fit again). Same goes with Jaidi, we'd have a plethora of defenders to fill in for him.

This. Didn't like the last episode. Hopefully RTD isn't going to completely screw up the series before he leaves.
