Christ, that pitch is awful. The officials really should be tougher on pitch quality, because that really is just bad, and I can see why we struggled a bit playing on that. It's like the Blackpool game last season where their pitch was 70% sand, 10% mud and 20% grass. It can suit a team like Exeter to have a pitch like that which they're accustomed to playing on while other teams struggle, and it can help them to pick up valuable points against teams. Probably how they've got this far in the first place tbh!

Scotland 9 France 18 FT Looks like another dross year for us Scots despite early promise. Can't see us beating Wales next week either if we play like that against bloody France. Only decent players were Paterson, Lamont and Beattie, rest of the team was seriously cack. The main problem with the Scottish team is that we haven't got any players capable of scoring tries on a regular basis, and all of our points come from Paterson. Defensively we're okay, it's just on the offence that we seriously struggle to make an impact. I just wish we had a player in the Delon Armitage mould who can take the ball and zip past opposition players with it. That's something Andy Robinson has to look at if we want to avoid coming last this year. Agreed, O'Leary is like an OAP in the scrum, but he took his chance well for the try and he's not got much experience internationally either. Let him build his confidence up a bit and I think he'll improve markedly on yesterday's performance. Paddy Wallace looked a lot better mainly because he's not as static as O'Leary, he's always wanting the ball and is involved in the passing game a lot more. Shame that Scotland didn't get the result against France today, and really the only game I can see us winning now if we perform like that is against Italy, and even then it might be a bit of a struggle.

I lol'd at the "small amount of money for us" statement, as many others already have judging by this thread! Personally I think it's great that we're giving them the tickets for free, it wouldn't be the same without the P*mpey fans there to give a bit of stick to and I think it's a really nice gesture by the club. Let's just hope that we can have something to cheer about come the end of the match on Saturday...

The form recently hasn't been great, but our aim for this season was survival, and without jinxing it, I think we've achieved that comfortably. We need to strengthen the team more in the summer transfer window in order to build a team that can go up to the CCC and be comfortable enough to stay up and maybe challenge for the play-offs. It'd be stupid to sack Pardew after one season, and after all, he's here for the long term. Cortese, Liebherr and Pardew all agree on that and I can't see him going if we don't make the play-offs.
-
See how that could've been misinterpreted. Was trying to make the point that we shouldn't be forced to pay for another league game if we want to get a ticket for P*mpey. It's hard for me to get down to SMS as I work on a Saturday and Sunday, and even then I only make £1600 a year (i'm a full-time college student), of which most has to go on car insurance, petrol money and travelling to universities for open days, amongst other things such as going out from time to time. What is left from that mostly goes to the club. I've seen Saints more times this season than I have in any other season (5 so far I think), and if I end up at Southampton University at the end of the year i'm buying a season ticket so i'll be there on a regular basis. I don't claim to be the best fan in the world, I know i'm definitely not, but I was just trying to make the point that I don't agree with the linked sales policy currently in operation with the ticket sales for the Portsmuff game. M'kay?

Supposedly we nearly signed Coventry City's Wade Elliot. Hmm.

Not the best start to the tournament, but Ireland played a seriously understrength 15 with the inclusion of a few star players (O'Gara, O'Driscoll, Wallace) and they ran the game. Paddy Wallace looked good when he came on too. England - Wales isn't shaping up to be that much better either. Hopefully Scotland - France tomorrow will be a good game, and I anticipate that it will be. Scotland have got a point to prove after only narrowly avoiding last place in 2009, and Andy Robinson has FINALLY included Chris Paterson in the squad, a player who Frank Hadden overlooked time and time again, yet is easily Scotland's best player imo. Just a shame i'm at work when it's on tomorrow!

Play-offs were never really realistic imo, said that from the start. We should concentrate on building up confidence now and the cup competitions.

Ireland 29 Italy 11 FT.

We need to build on a good last 10 minutes and put this one to bed. COYR!

Still don't understand why Puncheon is being played in the hole and Lallana is playing on the left when Lallana's best role is in the hole and Puncheon's best is on the left... Hopefully Pards will address this at half time because we really need a spark to get this game going, it'll be very disappointing if we don't come away from here with 3 points.
-
Ireland 23 Italy 8 HT Ireland really dominating today, can't look past them as winners this year tbh.
-
I'd like to see... -------------Davis--------------- Semi--S'bourne--Fonte----Harding Waigo--Morgan--James--Puncheon -------Barnard---Lallana---------- Subs: Bart, Thomas, Jaidi, Wotton, Holmes, Antonio, Lambert I know we won't line up like that, but I think we'll get the 3 points with a team like that. I'll be disappointed with anything less than 3 points today really, although I suspect that a Leeds style slip-up could be on the cards. Hope not though! COYR!

So, it's that time of year again. I'm not a huge rugby fan, but I love watching International games and I never miss a Scotland match if I can help it. I have a feeling that Ireland and Wales will be the two dominant teams again this year, they showed they were a step ahead of the other teams last year and I don't think it'll be any different this time around. Ireland to win it overall imo.

Milton Keynes rallying call :-) Shame

What awful fans, nobody turned up for the home leg and if that forum is to be believed, 300 sold is absolutely pathetic. If the FL have any sense they'd bust them down to their true level in the Conference and put AFC Wimbledon in L1, they're the ones with the true fans. -
Just got my MK Dons ticket, block 44, row MM, right slap bang next to the away 'fans'! Cracking! Linked sales is a crap idea though, good for the club, bad for the fans. I'm not going to pay for another league game now when i've already just bought an MK ticket and i'm about to pay for a P*mpey ticket... I'll try my luck on Wednesday!

Give the captaincy to Rooney imo, as per my thread on this board earlier this month. He seems to be the only player that actually gives a f*ck when he plays, and he's young enough to be captain for perhaps 10 years, whereas Terry will only really have another 3 or 4 years left in his international career with younger centre backs coming through the ranks.

Band Of Brothers - British miniseries version, ideas?
SuperMikey replied to Crab Lungs's topic in The Lounge
Yes, North Africa was certainly one of the largest conflicts for British forces, but also involved were many, many soldiers from other countries like Australia, New Zealand, India, South Africa, the 'free' French and Greece. What some people don't realise is the huge contribution that these other countries made to the Allied war effort, and thanks to Hollywood nowadays it's usually all focused on American exploits (not that they didn't help, they were just a wee bit late!). I think there's plenty of scope for a very interesting and entertaining series on this, as the African campaign lasted for pretty much the entirety of WWII. This is a fantastic read for anyone that's interested, in quite an easy to digest form (and for once on Wikipedia, it's actually accurate!) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mediterranean,_Middle_East_and_African_theatres_of_World_War_II#North_Africa -
Band Of Brothers - British miniseries version, ideas?

There's a huge story to tell, you could easily make another series as long as BoB out of any military campaign in WWII. Personally if they do decide to make another series in this style, i'd like to see one focusing on the conflict in North Africa. The European campaign is obviously the most famous one, liberating France, Holland etc and pushing into Germany, but not many seem to know about what happened in other places. I only really know about the North African conflict because my grandad fought in it, but even now I still don't know the half of what actually happened, and he's not around to ask anymore. There's a huge story to tell and i'd love to see something like that made. -
Great designs Gecko, as always. I'd be happy with any of those kits tbh, although I have to say that #1 is my favourite, nice and simple and the truest to our original kit.

If anyone has 2 spare tickets could they PM me please? Unable to get any tickets before and I CANNOT miss this game!
