  1. Ah, yes I am. Southampton is my #1 choice though, because the 'rents said they'd get me a season ticket if I got in there
  2. Southampton is a red brick Uni is it not?
  3. Well, it's coming from almost exactly the same production team that did the fantastic 'Band of Brothers' mini-series, so not that much can go wrong.
  4. That is one of the main reasons for my application there Not so sure about the course there though, prefer the Southampton course. And the grades that they expect from me would mean I would literally have to spend every single iota of my time studying to get them. Even then it's a long shot!
  5. Anthropology. Sounds like a great way to spend 3 or 4 years, and it's so broad that you can study pretty much anything to do with the human race. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anthropology
  6. Guessing i'm not the only person on here who's applying to University this year, so how are everyone else's applications going? So far i've got two offers from University of Sussex and University of Southampton (my #1 at the moment) but got a rejection through from University of Edinburgh this morning. Still waiting to hear back from Aberdeen and Goldsmiths. At the moment i'm thinking Aberdeen and Southampton will be my two favourites by the time it comes to narrowing my choices down. (Oh, and StuRomseySaint, you're not allowed to post on this thread!)
  7. Fair enough, i'll have to take your word for it because really I don't have a f*cking clue what i'm saying!
  8. Some people have foot fetishes, some people like pain, and others just like graphs and charts.
  9. Courtney
  10. I tried to make pancakes earlier. It didn't really work very well.
  11. Joensuu, I would suggest that you should get out of the house more mate!
  12. Well, i'm no expert on insolvency laws, but I would say that putting more burden on your finances when you're already trading as insolvent isn't looked upon fondly by the powers that be (HMRC in this case). They may not be illegal, but from reading this thread that's what I gleamed.
  13. Realistically, who thinks this would be a good idea? My Dad and I were discussing it in the car on the way home from the P*mpey game the other day and we both agreed that it would be a good idea. We were talking about how the Premier League is incredibly boring nowadays after I made the point that I much prefer watching L1 football to Prem football and how the title is pretty much always contested between Man Utd and Chelsea in the last few years. With the 'big' clubs in the ESL I think the Prem would be a lot more fun, because it would be a lot more even. You'd see teams like Everton, Aston Villa and Tottenham fighting for the title rather than Manure and Chelski like every other season. The ESL teams would be earning enough revenue to keep their rather large financial bubbles intact while smaller english teams would still be earning pretty sizeable amounts of money themselves in the Prem. But how would we decide who to put in the ESL? Would certain countries get more spots in the league (or leagues) than others as in the Champions League? It's certainly a tricky problem, but I think it could really rejuvinate english football as well as the football of other teams in Europe.
  14. Maybe we should ask for an FA grant so we can build a rocket to take us to the moon where we will build a 3,000,000 seater stadium as well. Basically, the chances are extremely slim of us getting reinstated. More likely option is Brum getting a bye. While the transfers were technically illegal, the FA still cleared them so it's their fault and really P*mpey's, much in the same way that the Jonathon Ross and Russell Brand scandal was technically the producer's fault for airing it.
  15. Quality player but lacks a good work ethic and has a touch of the Pulis's about him with regards to injuries. With Hammond back I think our midfield is fine now thanks.
  16. Loved the cinematic build up. 9/10
  17. True, but he was the player who it seemed to really hit hard. He is a Southampton lad and a Southampton fan though, so it's understandable. Didn't stop running for the entire game though, some lovely touches and passes and often a few perfectly timed tackles thrown in to an all action performance. If he continues to improve his game where he can play at that standard on a weekly basis (obviously he was giving that extra 10% because of it being the derby) then he will go very far in football.
  18. I had a huge grin on my face when I saw that on the big screen at SMS. Best part of the day imo!
  19. He was pretty much the only player on the pitch that looked truly upset that we'd lost. The rest were milling about swapping shirts.
  20. Special brew. (Nice to see the thread take off)
  21. Been without my internet connection since Saturday morning, so not had the chance to give my thoughts on the match. I was really, really gutted after the game, couldn't even muster the spirit to applaud the team off the pitch. I wouldn't have minded so much to lose 4-1 if we'd played really badly all game, more the fact that our first half performance was so good that I honestly thought that we had a great chance of beating the skates. However, that wasn't meant to be. We were brilliant in the first half. We kept the ball, passed it around nicely and we were unlucky not to go in 1 or 2 goals up at half time. They never really got a look in either apart from a few sparse counter attacks which never really tested Kelvin. When they scored their first goal in the second half though, you could see something switch off with our team. As Skatesmouth grew in confidence, we seemed to shrink back into our shells, and even though Rickie's goal gave us a bit of resurgence, it wasn't enough. I was incensed that our goal was ruled out for offside at the time, and also that P*rtsmouth's 3rd and 4th were allowed to stand, but having watched all the goals back I now see that the linesman and referee were spot on with their decisions. Ultimately it was an aging centre back pairing playing too high a line up the pitch against younger, pacier and fitter strikers who play two divisions up from us which cost us in the second half. Still, I can take some heart from the game, because if we play like we did in the first half more often, I have no doubt that we'll see a resurgence in the league and we may even make the play-offs if we're very, very lucky. COYR!
  22. The second one is a really beautiful song, helped along by the marvellous reading of the poem by Shane Koyczan, who also wrote the poem while Mangan wrote the music for it at a later date. If you're going for a CD i'd go ahead and get Postcards and Daydreaming (2007) which is a lovely album. He's also got various EPs and singles out, so if you're going to go the full hog get the Roboteering EP as well, which includes Tragic Turn of Events (the song you just heard). Would love to see him live sometime, but he doesn't come over to the UK very often although he was touring in early 2009 so I just missed him. Blast.
  23. That's way more than one word. You're out of the game hamster...
  24. Best one so far
