Watching the BBC Scotland coverage, Gordon Wilson causing trouble! All the pundits seem to think that this referendum has put forward a case for "balkanisation" of the UK though.

It is sad, and it gives opponents to Yes more ammunition with which to attack the campaign. Tbf though I think that kind of thing is fairly commonplace in our society now - if there's something of massive national importance like this it galvanizes people into performing reactionary acts. Look at all the EDL/BNP stuff previously where mosques and shops were being vandalised (and to an extent, still are). It's an unfortunate by-product of involving the whole populus in a campaign - a percentage of them will go out and do stupid things to show their support.

That was my first proper Saints game too, Pahars scored the goal IIRC. Sat in the Kingsland/Chapel corner right up in the gods - those stairs felt huge going up them! That was our first league win at SMS as well, so quite a history one for us to have seen!

Absolutely, but Galloway has been a national joke for years now. It's just funny that people seem to think he's somebody to listen to on this when he's been derided on pretty much all other matters. I'm just not sure what qualifies his opinion on this as worth listening to in comparison to some other comments he's made.

Do people think that Galloway has credibility now that he's aligned himself with the No campaign? They were very quick to dismiss what he had to say before this referendum.

I don't think automatically giving Scotland the worst deal gives the UK the best deal though. Would you rather have a doomed-to-fail country at the border or one that can actually give something back to the UK in terms of industry and trade in the future? The choices are there for both, but there's no point in being needlessly bullish when more reasonable terms could actually be in the UK's best interests going forward.

That's incredibly perspicacious of you. Why don't we wait and see a) if the vote passes and b) what the terms of independence are before deciding if it's going to be so painful.

I don't think that it's in anyone's best interests to "inflict the most pain we can" on Scotland should they vote for independence. Completely pointless and needlessly aggressive comment to make.

Barring injuries I would start with the same team as yesterday. VW is an absolute rock but Swansea have a very mobile and fluid midfield which I think Corky will be able to track more easily.

Fantastic performance, doesn't get much better than that. At the end of the match they had a shot of Newcastle supporters, and one of them lit a fag inside the stadium. Wonder how long his banning order will take to come through the post...
