In which case, expect two defenders to arrive before tomorrow's deadline.
-
Will take at least £5m for Birmingham to even begin to entertain the idea of selling him. Won't come cheap.
-
Weird one, that. He was OK for us, but nothing more. Didn't stand out in League One, so unless he's improved considerably in a short space of time, the Premier League will be too much for him. Surely this one isn't true, is it!?

I'm told our interest in Davies is genuine, and has been since the tail end of last season. Club representatives had attended a number of Brum games, with Butland, Redmond and Davies all being monitored. Only surprise is that we haven't firmed up our interest sooner. Maybe he wasn't the number one defensive target? For what it's worth, I feel Davies would be a great addition and is exactly the type of player we need. If this move comes to fruition, wouldn't be surprised to see another defender join too.

One thing is for sure, neither Fonte or Hooiveld will be involved. With our current lack of depth in that position, we simply can't afford to risk either of them. If they were to pick up an injury or suspension, the Man Utd game would be . . . interesting?

Emmanuel Mayuka - Officially Signed on OS - Work Permit Confirmed
Bailey replied to S-Clarke's topic in The Saints
Having done a quick search on this lad, it seems he's very much a striker as opposed to the winger we so desperately desire. Although I suppose if he did sign, we'd be looking to use him on the wing? His pace and power could be a real threat going forward. -
Imagine if we signed Phillips, Ramirez, Yoshida and Kana Biyik before the window closes. Along with Davis, Rodriguez, Gazzaniga and Clyne, that would be pretty much the perfect window would it not?

Hi all. Due to a family illness, I have two, possibly three tickets available for Man City tomorrow. As it's so last minute, I will take £30 per ticket. Please note: - None of the tickets are seated together. - Two are in the upper tier, one is in the lower. - If interested, tickets MUST be collected from me in person from Ocean Village, Southampton at 5pm this evening. Please PM me ASAP or let me know on here if you are interested. Thanks.

Summer 2012 HCDAJFU Thread - Premier League Special Edition

Correct. However, he is equally as strong on the right. You can see why Adkins is so keen to bring him in. He fits into this new system perfectly. -
Enjoy it. I think the majority of us on here did! Don't get me wrong, I'm delighted to be back in the Prem, but you can't beat good ol' fashioned away days to places you'd otherwise never go near. There are some cracking lower league grounds with a great atmosphere too, and you get to witness some 'proper' football at that level. I for one will miss the Football League this season! Hopefully I miss it for many years to come, too.

I like Seaborne, but I just don't think he's of Premier League standard. Originally, I thought that we'd loan him out to a Champ side so he can get back playing regular football after his horror injury, but as the big kick-off draws ever closer, maybe he will be involved in some capacity? On the other hand, maybe there is something in that Sky article, and we're just waiting for replacements to be signed before letting him leave on a temporary basis? Personally, I'd like us to sign two defenders, allowing Seaborne to leave on loan until January. Then, we can review the situation.

Excited! How can you be anything but? This is, after all, what we've been working towards ever since Markus and Nicola took control of the club. Sure, we're not going to win the majority of our games as we have become accustomed to over the past two seasons, and yes, we will be on the receiving end of a mauling or two, but it's the best league in the world. Why wouldn't you want your team to be a part of it? The alternative, of course, would have been fans on here moaning about our failure to achieve promotion, berating the players for 'bottling it' and looking forward to visiting Huddersfield, Peterborough and Millwall. No disrespect to those clubs either!

Are people seriously criticising Kelvin based on Udinese's opening two goals? Two fantastic strikes, you've got to hold your hands up and say fair play. Granted, we could have been quicker to close the oppo down, but to blame Davis is ridiculous.
-
I get the impression that he's playing out there because we don't have any other options right now, bar maybe Puncheon. I'd imagine that that will change by the end of the window. Similarly, I predict that Rodriguez will end up playing as the central man in the 4-3-3 formation by the end of the season. When the opportunity arises to play 4-4-2, we have plenty of options with Lambert, Sharp, Rodriguez and Lee all capable of playing in different combinations.
-
Would love this one to happen, but unsure whether these claims will complicate any potential deal. Blackpool do not want to lose Phillips, and understandably so. He has pace in abundance, can play on either flank and is exactly what we need right now. Fingers crossed a deal can be struck, but based on these accusations, this one could get messy!

The next batch are being printed and sent out today, so the majority of people will have theirs in the next few days.

With respect to Bournemouth, he's better than where they are currently. Barnard is good enough to be playing Championship football, although he may well fancy being a key player for a side chasing promotion in League One. Wherever he goes next, I'll wish him well as he's been a great servant to Saints during his time here.
-
That's great, thanks. I'm OK. No world-beater, but not bad. I don't really know what the standard for the Senior League is so hard to comment.

Have you got an email address/phone number I can contact you on away from this forum? I can't PM you as you're not a full member.

Not ruling anything out at this point! Definitely of interest, happy to travel to Winchester as not too far for me. What sort of standard is it? Keen to find out more.

As I'm going to be down this way for the foreseeable future, I'm looking to get back into playing football on Sunday's. Does anyone know how to go about joining a local side? A quick Google search shows there are leagues up and running, but not too much information on those clubs in need of players. I'm a left-midfielder primarily, but have played upfront in the past as well. Any help greatly appreciated!

Harding was arguably one of our best players during his first season at the club. I seem to recall people on here saying that he was one of Pardew's best signings in terms of value, having joined on a free transfer. Similarly, he was a good player for us in the Championship, and although the arrival of Fox pushed him further down in the pecking order, he always did a job for us and was solid, if unspectacular. If Forest do sign him, they'll be getting a very good player for that level. I don't believe he's Premier League quality, but for where Forest are at this moment in time, they could do a lot worse. If DH does leave, I'll wish him all the best. He's served Saints very well up to now, and I'm sure that'll continue at whatever club he ends up at next.

Am told that Martin Olsson is an alternative to Buttner. Early stages at the moment, but interest is there. Worth mentioning that this has come from the same person who told me that Buttner had signed, so don't get too worked up over it!
